What confuses me is that the same people who liked Eternal, a game that requires you to have critical thinking skills and was built around weapon variety, are now telling me that Dark Ages, a game that is stripped of all thought and actively punishes you for using multiple weapons, is somehow equally as good if not better. How are these people real? Are they just committed to the idea of being Doom fans, and will enjoy anything as long as it has Doom in the title?Normies love them some parryslop.
I uh Beg your pardon? What confuses me is that the same people who liked Eternal
I love Eternal and I think Doom TDA is probably (I have to play Doom 3 again) the worst doom game. What was unclear?
Unless we're talking strictly ID, TNT is way worse.I love Eternal and I think Doom TDA is probably (I have to play Doom 3 again) the worst doom game.
Doom 2016 is worth a shot, if you like that type of gameplay I would suggest playing Quake 1/2 as well and Serious Sam games. Other than that, Doom 64 is more or less just the oldschool games but looks better, the actual Doom 3 if you will. Doom 3/Eternal/TDA are too different in my opinion and should be considered experiments, be it ones that succeeded or failed they aren't really mainline material.I’ve only played Doom 1995 and that was a couple years ago but it’s definitely a fun game. Are the newer ones worth a play or should I just stick to Doom 1 and 2?
There's plenty of people like you or I that can recognize that Dark Ages does away with what makes Doom great and that it is a complete betrayal to the game design philosophy of previous entries. I'm referring to the TDA defense brigade, people who somehow believe that both Eternal and Dark Ages are great, this is an opinion I can not understand, how are people who enjoyed a game with the depth of Eternal satisfied by something as shallow as Dark Ages? These games are so far apart in quality that they feel like they were made by different people for a different playerbase. My point is, these people are niggercattle and will just consume whatever they are given as long as it has a Doom coat of paint.I love Eternal and I think Doom TDA is probably (I have to play Doom 3 again) the worst doom game.
Fandom effect. Id knew what they were doing when they started introducing a "Doom Universe". Channels like Midnight churn out 30 minutes of video every time Hugo spends 5 seconds hinting at additional story. Storyslop may not be enough to overcome the massive drop in gameplay quality but it offsets it a significant amount. There's plenty of people like you or I that can recognize that Dark Ages does away with what makes Doom great and that it is a complete betrayal to the game design philosophy of previous entries. Whatever happened to I just like the game? Why must you demonize those who enjoy it?There's plenty of people like you or I that can recognize that Dark Ages does away with what makes Doom great and that it is a complete betrayal to the game design philosophy of previous entries. Because they're annoying and act like they're better than people who were dissatisfied with the game. They respond to constructive criticisms of the game with reductive strawman arguments. Don't like em.Whatever happened to I just like the game? Why must you demonize those who enjoy it?
So where exactly do you see these people because I've yet to run into any?Because they're annoying and act like they're better than people who were dissatisfied with the game. They respond to constructive criticisms of the game with reductive strawman arguments. Don't like em.
and then everybody clappedWhenever a (nu)Doom fan gets uppity with me these days, I just remind them that Doom now has turret sections and and marvel cutscenes nobody gives a shit about. Boy, I haven't heard this much hollering in a long time!
To modify an old quote 'when your only tool is a shotgun, everything begins to look like a demon.'Whatever happened to I just like the game? Why must you demonize those who enjoy it?
In every place I've seen discussion of the game except for here.So where exactly do you see these people because I've yet to run into any?
Which is where? In every place I've seen discussion of the game except for here.
1994: There is no reason why doom should have city levels and an overpowered basic weaponry, It goes against DOOM's vision of out there space stations, careful balance, and labarynthine Hell. DOOM made fun of of normalcy in level design; this just shows that the devs have absolutely no clue what they're doing and that the old fanbase isn't their priority anymore, normalfags and casual gamers are.No, there is no universe where a Doom game should have turret sections, cinematic slop-pieces, marvel storylines and boring characters nobody gives a shit about. Doom 2016 made fun of half these things and even Doom 3 ended up incorporating story/characters in a way that wasn't intrusive. Dark Ages just shows that the devs have absolutely no clue what they're doing and that the old fanbase isn't their priority anymore, normalfags and casual gamers are.
Thats just me yelling at this retard, I don't think anyone else in this thread does thatBecause they're annoying and act like they're better than people who were dissatisfied with the game.
