DOOM

I never heard of a way the super shotgun figured into that though, as far as I knew you just ran around the map spamming gauss cannon alt fire.
Aside from maybe barons, everything in the game could be killed with a two shotgun blasts and a siege mode hit. The combo I described was mentioned in an interview with hugo martin during eternal's life cycle as a major reason they cut down ammo IIRC

Two Russian developers converted the original DOOM into a Fallout game.

Now you get to experience the first Fallout games, primarily Fallout 1 and 2, as a DOOM role-playing game, featuring the late 1990s graphics and UI (including the Combat Message Log) of these games in the GZDoom engine, an enhanced version of the original DOOM engine.

The release date of the game is to be announced, but the developers hope it to be released before or on 2027, with completion of the game at 60%. The game will be free, with the developers not monetizing anything related to the game besides fundraising as a show of support.
  • Development completion: 60%
    • Creatures: 30%
    • Walls/Tiles: 80%
    • Scenery: 80%
    • Weapons/UI: 50%
Welcome to Fallout: Bakersfield.

Here is a prototype that was released 5 years before the trailer of the game.

There is probably a good chance that the dev's next project is converting DOOM into an Arcanum-like game.

Fallout: Bakersfield looks fantastic, iirc it's from the same duo who made Sonora and Olympus, so it should be fantastic.
Love that the New Blood dudes are actually supporting this mod even though it's taking time away from the CRPG these guys were making with them

It’s embarrassing how much more interesting this looks than STALKER 2, which was a terrible game that had millions upon millions in funding.

Can they dmca this if it's not being made for profit? Can they call a fundraiser for support financial gain from the project? Honestly the New Blood support is scary and idk how litigious microsoft is with this kind of stuff. I know nintendo lawyers have said before in Japan that the worst thing that could happen is that they learn about your project, because then they have to do what they were hired for.

This same question was asked about the other fallout game that was trying to do first person, he was personally shouted out by Bethesda themselves, though it was a subsidiary he was still shouted out. Not to mention he takes donations for his project and still hasn't been dmca'd I'd say its pretty safe to say now that Bethesda couldn't give less of a fuck towards fallout 1 and 2 with how much success they have had alone with just using the groundwork to make several games including a live service game under their studio and a TV show to boot.

I don't get it, why are people not making OC instead of leeching of others franchises? This looks so kino and distinct enough it could stand on its own legs with some design tweaks.

For visibility would be my guess. If they came up with their own, cool unique name, it’d probably be lost in the vast sea of mostly shitty Doom wads. I’m hoping this is a case of “hey check out this Fallout mod we made for Doom, but check out our other cool and original shit” and they achieve success from it.

It’s a really impressive trailer. Excited to give this a whirl when it drops.

Because they're proper Fallout fans who love the franchise, not the joke that the western side of the fanbase became after Fallout 3. Making a tribute to something you like is normal, much better than releasing something like The Frontier in any case.
Of course, the publicity will also help in any of their upcoming projects.

If I had to guess I'd say they just like fallout.

Not true.
If you think of "fan fiction" as in low effort tumbler posts written up by autists with self inserts and shit, you might be right.

If you have a BROADER look, as any fiction based on something, made BY a fan (doom2016 and eternal count, as NOBODY from the original ID worked here IIRC) then of course fan fiction can be good.

The fans are the only ones capable of doing it right, even if some die on really retarded hills that cost them their project(s).
