I heard that they also barely help people out, despite being advertised as a hub of knowledge related to Doom modding. Not sure if that's 100 % true, just heard it from people.
This applies to many corners of the modern day internet it seems. people tend to give joke answers, or never give follow up answers/replies to close a problem with a solution. You'd think that the internet would be a hub of knowledge, but it seems it is a cycle of biased knowledge, slop wikipedia articles, or slop reddit/forum threads for a problem that is never solved. The average person will tend to source and get most information from a wiki. That unfortunately is hard to change, as a centralized website for knowledge on a certain topic can be invaluable.

The amount of times I've had issues with a game, and tried to look up a fix online, I was only met with stupidity and lack of answers or even the question being posed to begin with, and had to fix it myself through trial and error.
 
I find the creature in the bottom left corner disturbing, especially with how its eyes seem to move independently and/or lag behind.

PS: Huh, I don't think I've ever seen a snowy environment in Doom... Something I'd expect in Hexen or maybe even DN3D, but not Doom.

Snowy environments are nothing new or special, as the default Doom color palette easily supports gray and white textures. If you look at Doomer Boards projects for example, you'll find quite a few Christmas and snow themes.

I'll have to take a look. I have not played Doom mods (other than the moonman one) at all before the KF2 project... Looks like I've been missing out.

EDIT: Since uselessly I'm yapp-blogging like a retard here, let me ask something more useful too: is there any list of KF endorsed Doom/Hexen/Heretic mods and maps?
I think I remember someone mentioning that, or maybe asking about that in some other thread, but I don't recall the answer...

Dark7. Play that instead, it has some really good music too. Plus Dark7 mission pack.

There are still good wads out there, but most are old. Most recent ones that come to mind are Eviternity 1 & 2.
1 has a series of snow levels in chapter 3. Eviternity has a more gothic/fantasy style.

bonus: If you want some hell on earth action, play Extermination Day by Sergeant_Mark_IV. Get the vanilla finalized for the best experience. It takes place on Mars, Earth and finally Hell. Playing on GZDoom with Brutal v22 will produce heavy lag once you get to the hell levels. So I recommend using Zandronum for your sourceport. Brutal Doom Platinum has no issues running on GZDoom however.

edit: Also, if you want a doomgirl, bd platinum has a hud option for that. And it looks like an actual woman, not some freakish hellspawn.

That's impressive, really. Doom's data structures are so lean that the entirety of the level should fit inside the L3 cache of a modern CPU, and a modern GPU can draw 200 polygons in a billionth of a second. They must have really worked hard to come up with a way to represent a list of 200 sprites that would cause a modern machine to shit its pants.
If I'm remembering right, part of the reason is that the engine insists on bleeding edge renderers but can only run off of one core. The internals of DECORATE are also a Frankensteined pastiche of Build, Quake, and basically all DOOM engine variants with the structures hastily taped on top of the OG's assembly. It's a bit of a fucking mess to put it mildly and the primary maintainers of the engine turn spastic at the mere suggestion of optimizing for modern hardware.

CountryCide is pretty good and it's a prologue to a work-in progress mod called "Trenchfoot" which takes place in a Dieselpunk pseudo-warhammer world war 1 horror themed universe, it's in very early Alpha but still cool.

I need to stop being a lazy nigger and stop playing BF6 for a sec to go through my wad library for the list for October I wanted to make.
