One can certainly hope so, but between LLM-slop and troon-slop, I think the futures of both GZDoom and UTroon are looking bleak. Perhaps I'm just pessimistic.
There's also vkDoom, yet another GZDoom fork but this one is focused purely on Vulkan, it's being worked on by that indonesian weirdo Nash, and it's part of the reason for the current GZDoom shitstorm, because despite vkDoom being a GZDoom fork, Nash didn't wanted Graf to use his theme detection code for GZDoom (despite said code being taken from another project that both GZD and vkD use), so in the end the latter had to use AI to generate a solution for the Linux version of GZDoom, which led to the current tranny spergout.

It's an exaggeration to even call it that because what they were getting their panties in a twist about was 50 lines of boilerplate Linux compatibility code that he would've just copied from Stackoverflow or some other site had ChatGPT not existed. The outrage blows the issue up to the point where they are acting as if half the codebase was AI generated, which is obviously not the case.

In fact, this kind of thing is the exact kind of bullshit busywork that you *should* use AI for. Because it's not actual creative or interesting stuff to code.

As a result, you now get to enjoy UZTroon with long sought-after features, such as having a free entry field for your favorite pronouns, buttplug controller integration, and unremovable "trans rights" MOTD spam in the console, among other desperately needed features that the greater Doom community was dying to see.
 
Why do we need the sourceports to keep being "developed", it's for a 30 year old game, the sourceports should have been feature complete over 10 years ago.
Autists keep pushing for new modding features, and running older versions of source-ports on modern Windows can cause it's own set of issues, i wouldn't have a problem with that if GZDoom itself didn't ran like absolute crap whenever it's not running the vanilla maps, and then you have said devs sperging out when called out on GZDoom's bad performance.

There was a thread about the GZDoom/UZDoom shitstorm on Doomworld but it got quickly locked up, there was some gravedancing towards GZDoom before the lock, most noteworthy is one of the vkDoom devs (Nash, the same one who indirectly led go Graf using AI code as a quick fix) being involved with UZDoom, and them already planning the code coup from their Discord server, before the shitstorm began.

I remember his big WolfenDoom-style maps had a lot of annoying rooms with enemies while searching for the keys to progress. Weirdos dominating the Doom modding scene shouldn't surprise me anymore at this point.

I mean, just because you despise some of the UZDoom people doesn't mean that you should defend Graf's maliciously autocratic behavior. It's not just the things he has done lately, but he has also been responsible for a lot of unnecessary and unpopular decisions, and changes, that broke many mods and some maps.

On one hand, I applaud him for not pozzing GZDoom with political retardation and I saw him reject the suggestion for more pronouns in the player options. In UZDoom I can expect that to not happen even with Nash being Indonesian, as someone above said he's a weirdo despite hailing from a country that's full of muslims. Hell they're already talking about removing Randy Heit's deadname. On the other hand, I also find Graf getting screwed over funny as hell and pissing off others because he's a pretentious faggot who tends to be a contrarian and is the kind of autist that you'd shove down inside lockers. And Doom troons getting absolutely pissed is never not funny.

Well, he's an open source developer, sooooo... But jokes aside, I'm not gonna be the guy who's gonna tell others, "Yeah, it runs at half the frame rate and has some notoriously uncomfortable features I need to work around every single time, but at least, it doesn't have Randy Heit's deadname erased from some document I've never cared to read."

I doubt the discrepancy is going to be that big, I'd just rather not play tranny DOOM. It's not a hard choice if they're basically the same.

Oh i am not defending Graf's idiocy, a lot of the current state of GZDoom can be blamed on him, but stuff like the port's performance over the last decade is more of the blame of the coders behind the code coup (ZScript interpreter and new renderer features like PBR textures or real-time shadows, that came with the renderer re-write), Graf has been slowly distancing himself from the port's development since the lilith.pk3 incident, the older versions of the GZDoom renderer (the one that gets used on Zandronum and LZDoom) were more of his work, and for all of Graf's faults, those versions of the renderer run way better than the bloated mess that is GZDoom nowadays, and i don't expect the new management to fix the performance, specially when they were the ones reacting at any criticism about the performance, and not Graf (tbf he did sperged out about AMD users having performance issues, but that was 15 years ago and AMD's OpenGL support has been historically shit).

So people being optimistic about UZDoom's future because they disabled an option i only touch whenever i wipe my computer and reinstall Windows, is a bit baffling to me.
