Dorkly’s YouTube channel is ending

What if Mario swore and was in other video game

I used to really enjoy their stuff back in the old days. Then they decided to pull a CollegeHumor and decided that they wanted to put politics into their videos. Because obviously the most qualified person to get on a soapbox and preach to you about politics is some faggot talking about how big Peach's tits are canonically.

I think I stopped watching them after they released one completely insufferable episode where they bitched about how manga was all sexist because it had a problem with "objectification" not in the traditional sense of the word but literally the manga trope of an inanimate objection coming to life was sexist and problematic. They went on a tirade about how it was problematic to women and how manga like chobits was "deeply rooted in misogyny" because as everybody knows robot girls are truly the epitome of sexism in modern society.

I think what gets me the most is just how fucking pathetic the guy hosting the episode looks.

yeah, they stopped being remotely watchable when they started making WatchMojo videos

They were okay back in the day, before the whole "nerd culture" epidemic took shape. These days, there are far more content creators that do what they do, but better, so there was almost no reason to keep up with them anyway.

The fact that they blame people for not giving them money and not themselves for not making something worth paying for is rich.

No you don’t understand, they’re just soooo thoughtful. They know their audience is made up of underemployed losers drowning in debt that are fucking broke and sad excuses for human beings because they are fucking stupid dumb dumbs that smell because of how much they suck. How thoughtful.
When you have a channel with millions of subscribers, you only need a small percentage of them to donate a couple bucks each to get by. That’s just basic mathematics.

So does this mean that R rated Mario parody will stop showing up in my suggested videos?

I actually looked up their oldest video out of curiosity.
I mean, it... exists.
I only watched one more of their older videos because that epic gamer comedy was starting to overload my brain.
On the bright side, it made me reinstall Doodle Jump, so that counts for something.
I don’t know what to say about it other than it had a simple “joke” it wanted to tell, and achieved it.

I was under the impression that they were one of the unhealthy lifestyle choices that lead to the cancer developing.

How is it that all these dying channels that always fill themselves with SJW nonsense at some point in the past somehow retain millions of subscribers?
Because SJW are the human equivalent of styrofoam - they exist and they fill up space, but have very little use other than pollute the environment... okay, it's a bit of a stretched metaphor, but whatever.

In any case Dorkly/Collegehumor is a casebook study for nerd culture necrosis. All the nerds they pandered to have either grown up/ grown out of the nerd culture, got pissed off by their pandering and have moved onto other venues, or mutated into smug, penniless assholes which have no skill set other than to bitch about Trump and whine online about their anxiety and their depression.

A huge part of the collapse of college humor according to former employee Adam Conover, from the series "Adam ruins everything" is because college humor didn't understand the internet and believed the incredible numbers they were getting on facebook weren't rigged. Because apparently having 20 million views and 50-100 comments is totally fucking normal and doesn't set up red flags what so ever. So they decided to go all in on facebook rather than seeing the money revenue or using common sense.

WTF? I love facebook now!

I dunno, I found a couple of the animations funny. That's about it, though.

Also he's really just blowing past the "my former employer" part - apparently when "talent" breaks out they can't retain them for some reason, which will also kill a business dead near instantly.

Online comedy was never a thriving business on Youtube or Facebook - that's why there aren't a ton of "comedians" anymore, they have to become podcasters, talk show hosts, actors, writers, show creators/runners, and so on. Also, on what fucking planet does Adam think he lives on where you can survive online and not shift to video in 2020 (or even 2010, jesus). Video is the absolute, 100% king of media right now to a point where there are nearly a billion people who watch podcasts. Just ask Fark/Something Awful/YTMND how the whole "not pivoting to video" thing is going.

Pivoting to Video was 100% the right decision - a lack of talent acquisition, a lack of talent retention, an inability to monetize and an inability to make a brand sustainable were what killed CollegeHumor, not a bloated Facebook report. They tried in late-2018 to launch a subscription service, but it was already way too fucking late (also lmao at $5.99/month for CollegeHumor shit).

Adam is a dipshit, take anything he says with a grain of salt. CollegeHumor had tons of issues beyond pivoting to Facebook, and I didn't even know they did that because from what I remember they were still releasing YouTube skits.
