I'm watching TI to support Null's esport career, but just not feeling it this year. Then I noticed the posted prize pool is only $3.08 million, and thought it was a mistake. Turns out it's accurate, the Compendium really was that disastrous.

I haven't really paid attention to Dota since the big caster purge 3 years ago, so I didn't realize The International had fallen off so hard.

That might be the most dramatic decline in gaming since Heroes of the Storm.

Yeah, the battlepass funding TI this year is really lackluster. They however have put way more effort/money into non-TI related things this year so as a casual gamer its better overall.

Also RIP arteezy getting kicked out again lol

The bigger deal about the dramatic drop in TI's prize pool, is that Riot is crowdfunding part of their LoL Worlds prize pool this year, with the Worlds 2023 Pass and other stuff. That means that there's a chance that Worlds could have a larger prize pool than TI this year.

Going back to DOTA, China is guaranteed at least Top 3 and Top 6, so good news for them. But Tundra looked absolutely lost, after going 7-1 in the Group Stages, only to lose 4 games in a row to get eliminated. Skiter's Alchemist build in Game 2 against Entity was, I don't know what he was trying to do.

IMO DotA2 should distance from MOBA and try appealing to a casual/custom game market.

MOBAs/eSports failed hard and their era is pretty much over...

I blame Tencent for burning all the organic interest in MOBA games by saturating the market during the 2010s. League of Legends, Arena of Valor, Pokemon Unite (2021), Marvel Super War, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, etc.
The moment I saw HoN die, I knew the entire genre peaked by then companies tried to turn its users into addicts to retain its declining player base, cannibalizing each other ideas ASAP, or expand their IPs to not sink with the ship.

With TI wrapped up, congratulations to Team Spirit, for winning their 2nd TI, by beating Gaimin Gladiators in a 3-0 sweep. That makes the 3rd TI that ended in a 3-0 Grand Final. (Liquid 3-0'd Newbee in 2017, Tundra 3-0'd Secret in 2022, and now Spirit.) Spirit also joins OG as being the only two teams to win multiple TIs.

I was watching a lot of pro Dota earlier this year and GG was looking good, but was not able to really watch much in the buildup to TI. Quinn and crew got so close...

Didn't get to watch as much of the event as I'd like. Spirit for sure played the best doto at the tournament but GG had an impressive LB run, only dropping one game up until the finals. Sort of like last year though, I'm not sure how competitive the event was as a whole. China once again crumbling as soon as they face a decent team from any other region, though AR deserves credit for putting the nail in BB.

I guess they could try and push Arcade mode. While yeah, the genre isn't as hot as it was 4-5 years ago, but all esprot vidya has taken a hit. It'll bounce back.

>Release a battlepass with literally nothing that anyone would actually pay for whatsoever.
>no cosmetic items or arcanas to work toward by buying the pass.
>no whales to buy 600 levels immediately for arcanas.
>OOPS NO MONEY

Who genuinely thought this was a good idea?
Not to mention the western market is probably suffering from the fact that 99% of the teams are moonfaced koreans that nobody recognizes outside their home country instead of the OG champions from eastern europe and the US.

Might rejoin when next big update.

But I remember DotA2 being such a huge timesink.

And if I want to spend time in ranked to improve it's impossible. Game matches me with trash teammates and I have to waste 1h for a game that was lost in the selection screen.

Any of you coach?
