While we are on the topic of "being stuck in a game for an hour", does anyone have a game that was so terrible, it is still stuck in your memory?

My worst game ever was playing Anti Mage, then being told that my 4 team mates were premade russians, then realizing my support Rubick wanted to play roaming support so he was ganking mid and offlane while I was stuck at a weak little boy against offlane Lina and Mirana who would just bully me out of lane as soon as possible.

Mind you, this was when jungle/woods were still deadly and there was no iron talon yet and your team still only had one courier (which would just carry offlane's shit and mid's bottle the whole time). Since I was not getting any last hits or jungle camps for around the first 10 minutes of the game, I never really got to a point where I could stop farming. My items were so shit compared to the enemy carry and offlane that by the time I got my second item the game was already over, oh but being fucked over by my own team sure didn't stop them from flaming me the whole time.

Ten years ago I was a part of a five man team. I was playing OG straight up fucking broken Dark Seer. My friend played bounty Hunter. We would cheese lane with pokey orb + invis. We had a massive ten game win streak. He bought divine every single game.

One game was different. They bought wards. It was still in our favor but it was close. I told him not to buy divine this game. He did.

Got greedy, died, lost rapier to Lone Druid. His bear. We lost.

I was screaming at him, genuinely lost my shit, and none of us ever played together ever again.

Had a game a few years ago where I was playing CM Pos 5, the game was so bad that I ended up carrying the game since no one on either team had strong teamfight ultimates and BKB was still busted back then. It sounds like it'd be great but the game was a 70 minute slug fest where we came back from super creeps, I refuse to play pos 5 while I'm alone because that game was so stressful.

That sucks, man. On one hand, I can totally understand the frustration of a friend going against your wishes and actively throwing the game. On the other hand, it seems like you went pretty hard on him. I had a similar 5 stack situation. We had like an 80% winrate across around 20 games but once we lost a super close game our shotcaller basically went on a 10 minute rant, flaming every single member of our team and telling them what they did wrong. Then the group split into those who would tolerate his outbursts and who wouldn't, and it all went downhill from there.

Nowadays I play with 2-3 russian/german irl friends that have such drastic differences in skill that we never have balanced games. We either hit smurf squads most of the time, or dudes that play drunk or high or both. I think I only ever got mad at them once, but I was still nice enough to phrase it in a way to say "Of course having fun is important, but I want you to also understand the game better. No, Ogre Magi pos 5 rushing Midas into Aghs is shit. Please don't play it if we are laning together, I need an actual support when I play carry." and so on and so forth.

For pos 5 games I got my old reliable supports. Kotl to just piss off into jungle and either stack camps if the carry is somewhat competent, extra money for me when things go badly. Other than that Warlock is chill, WD is pretty relaxing, and if I am feeling extra confident I pick Oracle or Winter Waifu.

Oh yeah, I remember one more awful game that highlights how different pos 5 and pos 4 economy is nowadays. Sentry wards were bought in pairs for 150 gold iirc, and they had an infinite stock. Well, one game I was Kotl in a 5 stack and none of my mates wanted to buy detection against Clinkz, Bounty Hunter and Riki, so I had to buy and ward everything. I finished a 35 minute game with tranquil boots and magic wand, which, all things considered, wasn't unusual back then. Pos 5 rarely had a full inventory, unless of course you were just carrying around consumables and boots.

While not an hour, I'd highly recommend staying away from Turbo if you don't want to waste your time. Occasionally I'll get in the mood for it, use it to get 3 wins for the week, and it was the best game mode to farm the items for the event the last few months, but god damn, people playing it have no clue how to play, even those with thousands of games. It's not uncommon to get on a team with 4 support since people fight over fucking playing support. Meanwhile since Turbo is high xp, high gold, a team can go 3 carries and easily win. Also since it's fast and gold is dumped everywehrre, there's heroes like necro, monkey, brood, and slark that you don't want to play since they want a slow game and they fall off if the game goes too late or they fall behind. While heroes that go nuts with those conditions like bristle, PA, sniper, drow, ursa, and juggernaut stomp the game.

Did a game last week where our first 4 picks were kinda meh at best even with a good carry, and the carry was hovering over monkey king, told him not to pick it since MK is bad, did anyways and spent 20 mins getting stomped.

Had a similar game years ago. The enemy Riki out of the gate was perma roaming and shitting on everybody because nobody besides me wanted to buy sentry wards. To make matters worse our Visage thought he just didn't have to buy wards. By 15 minutes I was mentally checked out and just threw on a Youtube video to watch while I AFK'd in fountain to try and make the game end sooner.

Still remember how angry to this day I was about a game I was playing with an Axe and how much I hate position 5, an actual blight on the game of a position, and how I was feeling super happy because, and I know you aren't supposed to do this for many reasons but Idc, as an Undying main I had just been able to get this on my second roll:
Kino.jpg
The actual baboon would proxy solely to force me into a roaming playstyle as position 4, so we essentially had 2 positions 5's, and then he would die and shift blame, "My fault for leaving, the mid laners fault for not calling ss when he died to bot alone, the atmosphere for being too gaseous...." and then when everyone btfo'ed him after tolerating 40 min of his crying and moaning, he just dug himself into a hole in the middle of the jungle and went afk.

The game wasn't even lost, he was a retard and me and the other support where like level 14 at 50 min. but our mid could've carried.

Thanks, everyone. You got me in the mood to play. Joined a game and our first four heroes were meh that relied on a good carry. Carry picked faceless, which was great for our heroes. At level 6, we figured out that he went that fucking meme facet ult and we got stomped because of it.

Dunno why people think to choose that. Should I choose the ult that freezes all the enemies in place, or do I choose the ult that lets them walk out of my ult. Fucking Christ.

timezone is kinda good if you aren't the only carry though. Chrono obviously better for solo carry and assassinate plays. timezone is also a lot bigger.

Time Zone Void is good for being played as a greedy position 4. You can build bracer+wand for being bulky in lane, aggressively trading hits then using Time Walk to reverse the damage to zone out the enemy carry from last hitting. Time Zone then lets you gank other lanes and enable your cores to kill the enemy, and is great in teamfights. It's a terrible facet for being the carry, though.

what it takes to win apparently.
Picked Jugg, farmed my ass off as per Null's earlier tip, built both battlefury and mjolnir even though it felt redundant, literally oneshot 3+ people at once on R press.

We're so back.
Honestly this is the second time I have gone Maelstrom - Battlefury - Mjollnir on Jugg and you would think it'd be trash but it makes swiftslashes instakill supports and helps clear out creeps you don't want to jump on before they get targeted. As far as I can tell Battlefury does cleave even while in Omni.

Played since DotA on Warcraft 3 from around 2004 and quit 2 around 2016 or so. Had a (((professional))) team that played 4 hours per night every day of the week from like 2010->2015. Made it into a few prequals and regionals and placed in top five one once or twice. This was before there was even a prize pool for the full top 4.

iirc my Solo MMR was >7,400. I still play a game every once and a while on a smurf account for giggles and watch pro games and the TI. I still have a >75% winrate on Ogre Magi. He's the ultimate mid bonker against weak/greedy mids when you know they will gank/smoke/mid rotations. You can either play around ignite and harass them, or play positioning and go for ignite 1, wait for level 6, and then go instantly smoke gank rotate. OM can outbonk almost everyone prior to midgame. If they get ignited out of lane and go heal, you can go for early treads and bonk the tower down for rotations.

Crystal Maiden was my favorite support character though. If you learn to jungle with her using W you can give your carry all of the lane exp and farm and rotate mid or to deny large spawn jungle from their side to reduce their jungle's to 1 mob each spawn while bothering their jungler non-stop. CM wins games within the first 5-10 minutes. It's a great way to learn the map control and how to use creeps to find farm and/or push/pull lanes.

DotA was to me what Gamba is to The Bossman. Quitting was the best thing I ever did for my life.

Sadly I still have like 1,000 hours on my smurf account.

I still have a lot of my tournament merch (no I won't post it)

Unranked games are literally cancer, everyone just does stupid shit and runs around like headless chickens.

Ranked is calling to you Jersh. Embrace the MMR and become the degenerate you were always meant to be.

Edit: Also Jersh, the pitlord avatar is on point.

While I'm here...May I also bitch about how fucking retarded the current SK build is and how the hero is fucking unkillable. Literally gets bloodstone + euls and unironically can just go in and out of fights at will while tanking massive amounts of damage and outputting an absurd amount of aoe damage. If you fuck up you'll die, like if you get ganked by 4-5 heroes or get stunlocked prior to getting bloodstone off, but I hate any hero that requires that kind of commitment to kill. I would rather play against wind and luna every game than deal with SK in seemingly 75% of my games.

I will play ranked for the first time once I am back in the US and have a wired Internet connection. I have very stable Internet with Starlink but my ping is a bit crazy and unpredictable.

Right now the pool of heroes I feel comfortable playing competitively is literally just Underlord, so in that time I want to get up to at least 3. I think the reason I really liked Hoodwink is the same reason I like Underlord: they are both good passive farmers that can move around, clean a single wave up mid-lane, and then get out. Thinking of it, that is also how I played Nature's Prophet. Supposedly he's back in the meta now so I may look into it.
