DOTA 2

Is there a place (i.e website, Discord server...) where I can find people to play unranked with?
Like just casual and chill people, not even have to be good at the game.
A few LFG places that I found so far are infested with pro e-sport wannabe that only want super serious ranked 5 stack games.

Mana boots needed to be nerfed. Nothing was worse in lane than having a support and a core/carry and they could endlessly harrass with high impact spells. Veno, ogre, hoodwinked, and zeus have always been the worst when it came to this.

don't you take away my superior mana boot build up. I can give you at least 2 reasons why it's more balanced than before.

1. They no longer give you an increase to total mana. It makes a lot of these spam heroes much more limited in how long they can keep up an assault since they only have say 400 mana plus one boot pop instead of 600 mana plus one boot pop.
2. They can no longer be disassembled which means a support has to be committed/cannot quickly transition into an aether lens or other more aggressive item.

Other things to consider is that they promote a more diverse pool building them now since they provide flat mana regen for the team rather than a very independent boost to your own mana pool. I've found myself building them on lich and cm more since the tranquil doesn't provide that team boost.

I could see them raising the cooldown a hair? Outside of that it was a great change and I feel like more supports are committing to using the mana boot instead of building tranqs and leaving your team dry, or power treads because *they* don't need mana.

I don't think mana boots needs to go back to it's old version.

I think a fair compromise to fix the current mana boot problems currently would be to

1)Undo the Ring of Basilius nerf and return to .5 mana/sec
2)Switch the recipe requirement over to a robe of the magi (450g) (6 intel)
3)Change the active to only restore 75 mana, same as Arcane Ring neutral, instead of the currently 175/150.

This would make it to so the aura is still helpful, but not broken since it's only 30 mana/min. The nerf to the active stops sudden bursts of spells out of no where from a lane. The +6 Intel would then provide 72 mana and .30 extra mana regen to the owner (and a tiny bit of magic resist), which makes up for the active nerf, making it better for the owner.

making it better for the owner.
But I dont want it better for the owner. I’m a support player primarily who wants other support players to actually play support. It is a team game and buying support items should be rewarded. It’s the Eternal shroud vs Pipe of Insight. Most offlaners are building shroud now because the benefits to them are superior than to the team with pipe. I do like the Robe for recipe change, but the overall active should be better than a neutral. If it was on par then you would see most people ignoring the boot entirely if they manage to get 3 rings in the neutrals.

Right now the item that needs love is Vlads. I get it the upgrade broke the game for a bit but it’s time they find an upgrade for it or make the base item more incentivizing

Add like +4 all stats to it, increase its price to ~2500, and make it build into helm of the overlord again. Alternatively, some upgrade that boosts its aura effectiveness with summoned/dominated units could make for cool shit like corelock. I like zoo heroes so I'm biased.

I don't love the solution of "just throw a crown on it" since there is 25% of the hero pool that benefits from that 3x as hard as everyone else, but it might be the thing that needs to happen. The spirit vessel was the big example of that. It was a hair too good. I do like mixing it with helm of the overlord. i'm not into micromanagement so i don't build it at all but something like that might encourage more people picking it up.

I've always wanted to see some other items get defensive benefits as well as offensive benefits, like Euls self casting and wind waker being usable on allies. I always thought a neat one would be rod of atos+mekansm: you can use it on an enemy to reduce their armor or use on an ally to restore a boosted mek heal, and instead of rooting it provides a purge to debuffs. To balance it you just make it so it can't be used on yourself, and don't have it be affected by mekansm healing sickness. put it on double the cooldown if you use it on an ally as well.

I guess just to prompt conversation...

Favorite hero currently?
Favorite item?

Right now I've been addicted to abaddon. There is something so satisfying of preventing an ally from dying for 30 seconds as an enemy team just lays into them, then popping your ult when they decide to attack the source of the healing. I've noticed that I play a little stupider as Abaddon. I'll purposely position myself for an enemy team to initiate and then tell my team to just be ready to back me up. 6/10 they maybe break my ult and all die, 3/10 they kill me but my team erases them, and 1/10 my team doesn't show up after i tell them 30 seconds in advance what's gonna happen. I've noticed that because of this my positioning has been a little poor on other heroes (i play a lot of Treant so positioning is something I'm acutely aware of).

And for an item: Solar Crest. It's just so satisfying to give a team mate a bunch of "physical" physical protection. So many people waddle out of position in an effort to remove the shield. It's also fun to just throw it on your core as they're punching towers so they take it twice as fast.

My favorite hero is Clockwerk because he does nothing but look for fights and win them from level 1. Power Cogs and a Blood Grenade for first blood with your team, Cogs and Battery Assault for fighting in lane or catching the enemy support alone in the jungle, Flares and Hookshot for initiating or cleaning up stragglers. You build a blademail so you can trap cores in cogs with you and either they try to leave and get bounced around or they hit you and kill themselves. Fuck lasthitting and fuck farming, I just wanna kill.

I go on holiday and I come back to see Josh has found the secret of Fun-derlord
And I think the mana boot nerf is good anyone suggesting otherwise is incorrect and my opinion is the right one

There are plenty but this is the farms and nobody sane is going to share their personal info here when freaks stalk threads for victims to harass.
You're always free to share your own steam ID and see if fatrick messages you about prison though.

Can Clockwerk pos3? What items does he build? My Doom pick is dead right now and I need some pos3s that can teamfight well.

Theoretically but he's not as good at it as the traditional big fat idiot pos3 heroes. Especially with the recent nerf to Bracer/Wraith/Null. Typically you'd get two Bracers and Phase Boots so you can chase people down and trap them in Cogs without using Hookshot if they try to lane against you, then build whatever item lets you teamfight and kill the enemy's draft. Maybe Aghs for the crazy good Overclocking ability, maybe Pipe for teamfight aura, maybe Orchid to jump on supports and silence them so they can't stun you, maybe Shivas for more AoE magical damage and healcut. Clockwerk can build pretty much any utility or aura item.

Is Dota 2 a fun game if you're just now getting into mobas? I've been wanting to get into it for a while.
Ehhhh that depends on your attitude and if you end up liking the Moba genre
Getting into it is a bit of a wall and if you aren't ready to climb it to learn how to play you will prolly not enjoy

It is not dissimilar from trying to learn fighting games at this point. The average skill level of most moba players today is honestly really high compared to what it was 10 years ago and if you are even somewhat good now you would have been considered a pro back then. You are going to have to learn a lot of concepts and why they are important. Frankly starting from scratch today would probably take you 6 month to a year of dedicated learning just to be able to play at an average level. It's up to you if that kind of dedication is fun.

I just want to pop into this thread to say fuck Marci and phantom assassin combo. I hate their stupid fucking wombo combo the moment I get close to any of the towers.

I had quit dota before Marci came out, but when I realized that this character was added because they were in some stupid dota anime I resolved to never play again. OC Donut Steel added character based on an anime. How far dota has fallen since the WC3 days.
It's even worse because of how out of place her character design is. Just an obnoxious character. She has no lines, if you play her she just whistles fucking constantly.
