I can't defend the fag-ification of dota, but really it is just one hero and like <10 skins
But I will attest to the importance of good sound design. Its like a bell curve, you only really notice sound design when it fucking sucks or is fucking amazing.
And minus a couple small sounds you can close your eyes and have a pretty good idea what went on in a team fight :D

But yeah, everytime I play another competitive game it just makes me mad and I end up launching dota and breathing fresh air again. It sucks, I don't wanna be an elitist but all the new stuff is just so fucking bad (LIke Marvel Rivals). It surely can't be hard to make a competitive multiplayer game that is fun
 
all large mainstream competitive games are designed primarily to be live service product vying for "most profitable media franchise" a la GTA5, milking cows for years, instead of actually making a good product. good product is second to making sure that you sell skins. marvel rivals is literally a fucking TPS instead of a FPS so you can stare at your character's ass more. makes selling those booty skins easier.
 
Oh yeah of course, of course this is true across gaming in general.
But despite the mountains of shit, there are some gold nuggets out there, I try to be as optimistic as possible
but nothing out there scratches the competitive itch and isn't terrible.
So i'll have to keep taking dota, with or without its many flaws :(

And hopefully we will have an update soon, surely buffs will only come to my heroes and nerfs to the ones I don't like..... right?
 
I miss the days when Valve updated old, janky models without forcing you to pay $300+. Also, fuck the persona skins. They're all shit.

Old Dota and even pre-2014 LoL were full of American nerdy things. Since Monkey King or 7.00, there's almost nothing nerdy now.

Hot take: Almost every new character since Monkey King is Lol-design trash. Primal Beast is the closest thing to a Dota-type design, and that ain't saying much. PB is the only new character I like, and I don't even play Dota anymore (7.00 just ruined it for me). Kez is a giant faggot, and his sjw voice actor is an unlikable cunt.

Chi Long Qua taught me that Peruvian Mental Attitude wins games. Make sure to tell your teammates, and the enemy team, that you engaged in PMA during your gameplay; it'll let the other dogshit players know that you kept a good PMA in the game.

Kez is quite based, if you learn him, you will win games easily. He has a built in harpoon, and can go invis if needed to escape; plus his ultimate lifesteals (a lot of players don't realize the ult lifesteals). Granted he'll probably get nerfed at the next patch.

Edit: This silencer build has won me 3x games in a row as silencer, getting double silence (plus your damage over time Arcane Curse spell is applied with aghs), just makes retards rage hard; also go for the right side of the skill tree to get global silence cooldown lowered at lvl 15, and 2x Arcane Curse. First item you build is aghs, with wizardary staff for increased int/mana; then boots, refresher, octarine, and after those, whatever you like. The big advantage is that once you get aghs, as long as your Arcane Curse is applied from the global silence, you can get that stolen intelligence (3 stolen per kill with the shard); just farm hard as your team is fighting, while popping aghs during team fights.

I have 300 games as nature's prophet, and I have not played him in maybe ten years except once or twice. After admiral bulldog ratdoto'd TI1, ratting underwent a series of roundabout nerfs while NP received no serious attention. Nobody should play him.
 
As someone who never played ranked but fucked around for 100s of hours in Dota 2 after its realease up until around I think the release of the dumb portal cube Io skin, is it even worth trying to get back into the game? Are ranked or unranked playable as a solo casual?
 
I haven’t played dota since 2019 with 1.4k hours logged. The standard for a skin was whether the hero could be identified at a glance during a team fight, I vaguely remember a mini controversy over a Nyx/Sand king skin looking too much like the other.

ive been looking for these easily as long as you have i used to watch his streams i watched all of these live back in the day gonna DL and watch all this shit shame that guy uploaded his full name the college he graduated from and clips of him dropping Ns and spooked him off streaming
 
finally found time to play a game and it was so horrific that i am cured from wanting to play again
