First impressions
  • Naga, Wind are no longer unplayable, nice
  • Drow got a nice buff, mana-free gust feels great
  • Mireska buffs because why not, aghs moonshard is now core, fuck you if you go euls
  • PA buffed but her items nerfed, especially Battlefury, still unsure what to build on her. Maybe go deso into sange now that abyssal blade builds on sange
  • Bristle and Bloodseeker are now right click carries
  • Jugger dumpstered again, poor guy has been garbage for 5 years, make carries great again
  • Seeing flowing water makes my jungle farming more relaxing
  • Some of the rivers are unnecessary
  • The new neutral system is fantastic
  • Roshan on the river warms my heart
  • DK is a dumb meat wall nigger retard, he's allowed to do shittons of right click damage while being tanky as fuck, make AGI great again and kill this nigga
  • Jakiro stuns for SIX SECONDS at level 1, Auroth fucks hard with her new ult, total dragon victory in general
  • Except Viper, he's fucked lategame because he can't turn universal
  • Gleipnir doesn't build from mael anymore lmfao
  • Skitter legs are great but should be tier 4
  • Invoker rework looks interesting but I don't play him
  • Spirit Breaker can now permabash you to death with good positioning without items
  • The puns on the facet names are great
7/10, unironically too much water on the map

I'm reading the patch notes now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but can Bristle no longer lifesteal off his passive quills now?

Holy shit they fucked up

This applies fully to towers for some reason.

I was a league guy in high school and haven't touched league since season 5. Should I pick up dota or am I too old for this now?
Just play the chill heroes that require little actual knowledge of the hero itself to get a feeling for the game and its systems.

Also, no matter how much you think you can prepare in advance, you will probably get your shit kicked in for the first 10-15 games until the game starts matching you with other newbies or bad players.

Whelp, here are my thoughts

-You can tell that they really wanted to gut late game damage. There's so many heroes especially universal heros that lost a massive chunk of their late game damage.
-PA looks like she finally got gutted. Wish they'd do the same to sniper.
-I don't understand who the abyssal blade change is for. Bristle and PA might be the only hero that wants sange on there. Maybe tide and centaur if they really need the stun.
-While I welcome the cooldown nerf on phylactery and Khanda, getting rid of crit on khanda feels weird. While I welcome more breaks in game since I've seen games where people were arguing over getting a silver's edge till it was too late, gutting PA and bristle really cut down on the uses of breaks.
-Orb of Venom is gonna be toxic for early game harassment. I expect to see it nerfed within a month.
-Glad to see ring of giants is gone. That was a must pick 99% of the time neutral item.
-I wish they'd just fucking remove that shitty time zone facet from faceless. Picking that should be considered griefing and reportable. In fact, I end up reporting those fuckers and they almost always have action taken against them.
-Glad to see Lich's ice spire is now gonna take damage from orb bounces.
-Also they got rid of hoodwink treebouncing acorn, so that cuts down on a lot of early game damage.
-Jakiro looks like he's gonna be a real menace now that he can cast fire and frost whenever he wants.
-Pugna got raped. The fact that his ult no only restores mana really kills him for prolonging pushes.
-Nyx is back to burning mana. Really interested to see how he'll do now since he can no longer quick jungle with mind flare.
-Silencer also appears to back to how he was a few years ago, back to last word silencing and his ult.
-You can tell that they had enough of the Pudge ulting allies away in fights and got rid of that.
-I think Razor is gonna be extremely dangerous since his static link with shard is now gonna steal movement speed at the same rate as damage.
-Wind might also be dangerous depending on how good that tangled facet turns out.
-I wish they'd stop fucking trying to do stuff with Viper's nethertoxin. The abilty is shit mid to late game and buffing the radius and other shit ain't gonna do crap.
-Witchdoctor meme facet is gone! No more games getting ruined cause a witchdoctor wants to buy radiance!
-Also, who the fuck is gonna want the new revenant's brooch? Can't think off the top of my head a hero that wants 'crit' and spell lifesteal. Winter Wyvern damage? Ogre damage?

I'm always amazed at how they can breath life into this old ass game.

The new neutral item system I think is a much more interesting system now than "Token drop - pick it up - choose". Although we will see if it stays interesting or what the meta is set as.
Universal heroes got a nerf and the amount of them lowered by quite a lot. There were way too many of those fuckers I thought.
Just played a game of Darkseer and he felt good - finally.

Roshan finally in a relevant part of the map again!!

Slardar gang rise up

Glad I got one final BB game in before he got gutted. It was admittedly deserved, but also I dicked over a Kez in my last 7.37e game so I'm sad to see it go. Really digging the new neutral system.

You should be able to. The most jarring thing for new players is turn speed and abilities having high mana costs. I'd say look up a beginner's guid to supporting as it's probably the easiest role to do but requires some study to get the nuances (ward spots, stacking and pulling neutrals, smoke ganking). For Dota I can say this with absolute certainty: The lows are the lowest, but the highs are incomparable.

I'd disagree. The age-old advice to new players of "just start with support because it's the lowest risk" is outdated, imo. I think it's much more beneficial in the long run for a potential new player to learn what the different roles and heroes do and find one that fits their individual personality/gameplay preferences.

am I too old for this now?
The one thing about Dota is that it's a lot more strategic and based around zoning your opponent, that's why the best Dota players are older and not zoomers on ritalin with hyper reflexes, they have better game sense

It's bugged right now, it makes PL illusions do full damage when procing. Have fun.

I still wont come back, deadlock is my dedicated love hate relationship nowdays.

I've played a few matches now. I think this new jungle layout is down right miserable and leading to every game being a stomp. You can no longer safely jungle on your own side of the map since the layout is so broken up and hidden.

Most games on new patches are stomps in my experience.

Also I think people need to just re figure out safe farming patterns and the games will naturally slow down a bit.

Yeah this tends to be the case.
Alotta people trying stuff out, other stuff being either useless or broken
Tis the cycle of new patch
