Hello fellow Cat-Kiwis,
Back in late February I shared my woes regarding my 15 year old cat. The vet visit was less than stellar. I spent around 2k to find out she has a tumor on one of her nipples, it hasn't spread far since her lungs and heart look fine. Her white blood cell count was also strangely high, but I didn't get all the information as I was really going through it- Kinda just started tuning out after being told if it's removed she could have 2 years, if not, 1 year. The whole procedure would cost me 9k and with the economy the way it is, I couldn't do it without severely setting myself back.
I came home feeling defeated but, a week later she started to eat plenty again. I've given her new toys and beds which she has been making great use of and the with the weather warming up she's been enjoying her outings again. She spends most her days sleeping and when I'm home from work she tends to hang out with me. My biggest issue is just seeing that tumor whenever she rolls over, I also can't get her to stop licking it- and with how coarse her tongue is she keeps making it bleed which ends up dripping on the floor, bed, blankets, etc. It also occasionally releases a clear fluid. It's creating a stench on items and herself, it makes it hard to be near her. I've gotten her used to me cleaning the general area with peroxide to fight off the odor, I might also shave down the hair every few months. Her movements, behavior, bowel movements, and apatite are all normal, she oddly has been purring more loudly around me though, maybe she's just enjoying the more attention? I was given medicine to dull any pain she has but so far she hasn't displayed any pain. I plan to give her a comfortable life until she's ready to go.
Thanks for the comment months ago
