Do people really use animated backgrounds or is this a meme?
I do.
I'm on Linux, and KDE has this really great plugin that lets you use any shader you want as a wallpaper, for example the ones on shadertoy.com. So I wrote a shader and that's my wallpaper. And my lock screen. And my login screen.

It's just some bubbles floating around with a very faint scanline effect to get rid of gradient banding, but I've been really happy with it. I tinker with it every now and then, GLSL programming is fairly easy and quite fun, I'm currently on version 3.

Until I find a way to add animated wallpapers in Linux Mint Cinnamon 22, I'm stuck with the default option.

i'm retarded.

"Made" a Metokur wallpaper from his "stream starting soon" screen. It was also low quality so I put it through a web-based image upscaler It turned out really well though it still has some artifacts. Not too bad for me though.

I've been really feeling the Windows XP tulip wallpaper lately.
