way i see it whatever information is public is fine. if someone is upset that their info is being posted here or elsewhere there are ways to get it taken down. not just from here but from other sites as well. on the other hand if someone is being a tad bit too obsessive and gathering info on someone via illegal means that stuff should stay on other sites like doxbin but not here. whatever info that is posted here is usually only done so to properly verify an lolcow since there are plenty of people out there with identical names. it should also be noted these rules go out the window if the info is related to someone who is a pedo or a zoophile.

Doxing is just a convenient weapon against KF. Just look at something that is illegal and not allowed, like swatting. KF is blamed for every swatting despite the forum culture being extremely anti-swatting. The accusation is that swatting is something we do behind closed doors, or swatters use doxes from KF. If doxing was banned, the goal posts would just be moved a little. They would then say that we defame and lie about lolcows, which creates hatred against them and leads to a-logs doxing them off-site or in secret forum groups. That secret doxing then leads to swattings, and KF is still ultimately to blame for all swattings again, somehow.

Tommie Tooter once asked to be allowed to moderate his own sub-forum and I think that would be the next goal post, to allow lolcows to delete "misinformation" and clean up their own threads. When that isn't good enough, they will demand the right to delete their threads and ban discussion. They will never stop until KF is dead, so fuck them. As long as it's legal, it should be allowed on the Farms.

If the information can be gotten from either the cow or an internet search, it's fine - and that constitutes 99.9% of what's considered doxing anyway, not just here. Those TikTok videos of women tracking down the identity of some guy who leaves mean comments on their videos - just as legal, just as much doxing, more likely to inspire actual harassment.

When 'they' do it, it's 'holding people accountable'. The Farms are just holding people accountable they like, so we're evil. If it's legally acquired information, it should be fine, simple as.

Personally, I don't think family members need to have the same level of detail unless they're involved in the lolcow's business, so addresses and Facebooks are fine but I don't really need to know where they work, their addresses or phone numbers unless it's relevant - but that's just my preference, and again, nothing illegal being done to get the information means it's fine.

There's also edge cases - Chris, obviously, but people who have other trolls like Cyraxx and Pat Tomlinson. Pat is the most blurred lines of all the lolcows I follow, because he has an entire other forum that fucks with him, and there's both membership overlap and a lot of his thread's humour comes from them actually messing with him. I think he's a 'depends on the lolcow' case, though, because so much of what makes him a cow is how he can't stop responding to even the slightest provocation, for years and years and with absolutely no attempt to mitigate it by changing his number or just ignoring it. And again, I'm pretty sure all the information about him out there is legal (with a little subterfuge in a couple of cases like his grades from high school) and neither group is responsible for swatting him. He even attacks anyone who tries to help.

And as for the pedophiles and zoosadists, fuck them they get what's coming to them. And really, same with anyone who actively comes for the site, especially because they are inevitably using illegal means to do so.

So much of what is called doxing is just people not taking accountability for what they put about themselves online, and not knowing how much that leaves a recognisable footprint of information other sites collect. These are people upset that they're in the phone book pretending that means their lives are in danger. It isn't what makes the Farms 'look bad' - that's the nono words and pointing out lies and delusions and making fun of them. I'm not so fond of the blast radius effect, but again it's all legal, publicly available information.

And none of the people on the site would be posted about if they didn't draw attention in the first place by what they put online. Sharing on the internet is not a necessity, it's a choice. If it's your source of income, you cannot reasonably expect to only ever have positive responses and not any negative ones. Despite what they say, we're not a harassment site - you never have to come here to read about yourself if you don't want to.

Tl;dr: It's legal, it's not immoral and it's based on public information. Be mad at Google and the government, not the Farms, if you're concerned about doxing.

If you answer yes to either of these things, you are either lying or a retard. No points for figuring out which.

Surely no one wants to have a thread about themselves here, but almost all the information ever gathered is open source information just lying around by people who are careless. I say almost because I cannot say 100% that someone hasn't at some point done something naughty to gather some vital information. For example (and I may be wrong here), DSP's bank statements. But then again, he is a long established lolcow with a HUGE following of detractors who span well beyond the farms.

In most cases, in order to get a thread here, someone has to be funny enough and draw enough attention to themselves for people to start giving a shit. These people usually freely share personal information, either due to a lack of awareness or a lack of common sense.
Many cases it's literally as simple as someone using the same username on every site. And from what I have seen, this information is pretty much only used to uncover funny things they may say or do.

If you use Facebook, you can technically be doxed. When social media and the Internet at large demands so much personal information, and encourages the thoughtless sharing of every waking detail of your life, and discourages having alter egos or even to consider the information you share online and how it might spread... How is it so bad that a site catalogs information that others freely share almost every day? Especially in the interest of archival or morbid curiosity?

There's a difference between doxing and life ruination. And believe it or not, the harassment campaigns, swatting, shit like this, if it happens, it doesn't come from the site. I don't ever see it happen, do you? And the people who think this is some underground trolling gang where you organize l33t epic raids against lolcows are usually laughed off the site pretty quick, it happens every now and then and that in itself can be funny to watch if you're into the occasional in site shitstorm.

It's been a staple of the site since forever, as long as it's not illegal, I don't personally think it's a problem.

And to the argument that this site facilitates behavior such as harassment by having full dox easily accessible... What prevents someone insane and dedicated enough to pull up that information themselves or from another, more shady site? Kiwifarms is targeted because it's the most popular forum of its kind. It's a bit foolish to believe that if dox on the Farms was to suddenly go away, that there would be no more mean Internet bullies and the Internet would magically be safe for even the most drooling of retards.

Hypothetically, if the farms was to go down forever and it's game over... The people most dedicated to its destruction will likely move on to something less morally ambiguous, all in the name of shutting down any and all criticism of them and theirs.
