Pre-2020: Beginnings
Karlyn Rita Borysenko (née Morissette) was born on April 12, 1981 in Vermont, growing up in Williamstown. Little is known about her childhood except that her first presence online was when she was 16 years old in order to “ridicule a boy she went to school with” according to an old blog post of hers.
She graduated from Williamstown High School in 1999, claiming that she was co-valedictorian of her class. In 2003, Karlyn graduated from Boston College with a BS in Communication and Public Relations and an MBA from Norwich University in 2007.
In 2011, Karlyn moved to Merrimack, New Hampshire during which she met her mover, Ukrainian immigrant and green card holder Victor Borysenko. The two got married in November of that year.
In September 2012, she founded Zen Workplace (A), a worker consulting business, and released an accompanying book. She has previously worked as adjunct faculty at Champlain College, the Director of Social Media at Southern New Hampshire University, and at Dartmouth College. In 2017, Karlyn obtained her PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Capella University. Capella is a for-profit university and has been argued to be a diploma mill by some, making the legitimacy of her PhD questionable. Her dissertation is about bullying in the workplace, and she herself claims that she is a victim of workplace bullying. Her dissertation can be found in this post (credit: @Palla Strozzi).
2020-2021: Rise to Prominence and Early Controversies
Karlyn blew up in February 2020 when she wrote an article on The Medium, discussing her story of how she attended a Trump rally as a Democrat, starting to become disassociated with the party altogether after experiencing the hate coming from the online knitting community, appalled by the fact that she shared the same politics as many of her peers. She made the interview and podcast rounds, and later got featured on PragerU.
Karlyn would gain a sizable following from this, and hit it off with a fellow ex-Democrat knitter named Keri Smith, who would appear on a couple streams with her.
Upon joining Brandon Straka’s #WalkAway movement, Karlyn would be a panelist at an event in Milwaukee’s Ingleside Hotel that August. She got evicted and made a video claiming she got kicked out for wearing a MAGA mask.
However, the hotel itself would come out with a statement telling a different story, saying that she (not referring to her by name) refused to put on her wristband to the water park, cursed at staff, and banged on the doors of other guests. They also made clear that the eviction was not political in nature, as they had held conservative speakers in the past.
A couple eyewitness accounts also said what they saw.
Keri Smith would later cut all ties with her that November.
In February 2021, Karlyn would make an appearance on Fox News to discuss a story she broke on how Coca-Cola created a diversity training video for their staff with advice such as “try to be less white.”
The “woke Coke” story would steer Karlyn into investigative journalism, and research critical race theory and stream her findings to her audience, as well as reacting to DEI trainings. However, she would adamantly demand her audience to not call CRT anti-white because she wouldn’t want to parrot what white nationalists were saying. She would take this to a degree so extreme that she would outright block anyone who said it.
Later in 2021, Karlyn would espouse new spiritual beliefs in which fetuses chose to be aborted in the so-called spirit realm. On December 4th, she would proclaim in an argument with a Twitter user that Hitler went to heaven with her reasoning being that victims of the Holocaust chose to die in the Holocaust before they were born in order to experience oppression. This tweet went viral, got deleted, and PragerU privated their video featuring her.
On the 11th, Karlyn’s former friend and fellow #WalkAway member Mike Harlow released a video explaining his experiences with her, her behavior of picking fights, smearing, and manipulating people, and brought the Ingleside Hotel story to a wider audience.
Around this time, Karlyn joined The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire, infamous for its vulgarity and unhinged nature. Karlyn and several other LPNH members traveled to a Timberlane Regional School District school board meeting on the 16th to protest CRT being taught there. She would audibly shout “We know where you live!” and get in the faces of people that confronted her group.
2022: Gubernatorial Run and Bigger Scandals
2022 was the year in which Karlyn launched her bid for Governor of New Hampshire as the Libertarian nominee, polling at 8% at her peak (archive of her candidate website).
It was also the year in which she proclaimed that grooming children is protected speech.
On March 20th, Karlyn created the YouTube channel Actively Unwoke (A), a now inactive secondary channel that was used as a podcast and livestreams for watching and discussing DEI trainings. She released a book of the same name on April 26th and also became the name of her general brand.
On April 11, a young journalist from England that Karlyn struck a friendship with named Kieran White unveiled a series of DMs she sent to him on her tenth wedding anniversary five months earlier. In them, she heavily implied that she wanted to pursue a sexual relationship with Kieran despite being married and him being much younger, and sent suggestive pictures to him. She was set to meet up with him in London and after it was cancelled she said she would want the NH state police to arrest him if he steps foot on the state.

On June 6th, Karlyn made a livestream where she suicide baited due to all the “harassment” she was receiving and that her book was not selling well. She also said that she would take a break from all social media. This break would last less than 24 hours.
I, Hypocrite later came out with a video highlighting how Karlyn is a tough guy yet also plays the victim.
On July 22nd, Jesse Singal and Katie Herzog from the Blocked and Reported podcast made an episode on Karlyn, bringing her past controversies to a wider audience, adding a story in which she got fired from New Hampshire Public Radio for allegedly throwing a binder at a boss so hard that it dented the wall. Karlyn took notice of this and shared Katie’s email, where she and her followers would spam it.
On July 29th, Mike Harlow made a tweet exposing that Karlyn was in a relationship with a convicted child pornographer by the name of Aaron Campbell Brown when she went to Boston College, and maintained a friendship while he was in prison.
In the 90s, Aaron and a friend set up a web hosting company which hosted multiple child pornography websites and in 2007 pleaded guilty to “one count of conspiracy to sell, transport, reproduce, distribute and receive child pornography, and one count of money laundering.” He was sentenced to “between 108 and 135 months in prison, faces a fine of $250,000 and a period of supervised release up to the remainder of his life.” The tweet gained quite a bit of traction, and Karlyn would maintain the belief that Aaron was innocent.
On October 16th, LPNH members protested an NH Republican Senate candidate Don Bolduc rally and Karlyn was seen shouting at the candidate’s supporters.
At another protest on November 3rd, a man filmed Karlyn aggressively approaching him and he posted it to YouTube, showing unflattering angles of her (apologies for it being lopsided).
Election Day of November 8th came with Karlyn polling in dead last at 0.4%, even behind the second, unofficial Libertarian candidate.
On November 23rd, Karlyn created a Substack titled, Surviving Keri Smith (A), chronicling how she received nonexistent harassment from Keri, and claiming she was obsessed with her. At some point she also emailed Keri’s pastor so the two could appear on her channel for a “healing conversation” but got no response.
DETOUR: Surviving Keri Smith
The Surviving Keri Smith Substack is an important facet in Karlyn's story. In it, she makes herself look like the victim in many of the things she's guilty of. Covered in this section are some of the most important parts of it. As mentioned awhile back, Keri cut ties with Karlyn after the Ingleside Hotel incident in 2020. Keri also blocked her on all social media. Later, in Karlyn's words:
Karlyn later received an email in which she claimed was from Keri due to the language used.
She later accuses Keri of smearing her via quote tweets, threads, and replies.
Keri also took to her dog's Instagram account to message Karlyn one last time.
Karlyn accuses Keri of inserting herself in unrelated drama to spread lies about her such as, once again, taking to replies.
Karlyn makes note of an a-log parody account. Over the years there have been three in total, with the most recent one becoming inactive in 2024.
Karlyn accuses Keri of creating a "stalking horde" (alternatively "bullying horde") formed from the people in the replies. When no, stalker child, it is clearly you stalking Keri.
To show how obsessed Karlyn was with Keri, a-log @BeeGrrl created "The Obsession Scroll," comparing how many times Karlyn mentioned Keri on her profile vs. the other way around.
Karlyn also refers to Mike Harlow as Keri's "attack dog" and somehow thinks Kieran is part of the "mob" because he denounced her after the Hitler tweet, and ropes in Deb Fillman, host of The Reason We Learn podcast.
2023: Karlyn Enters The Sektur
One of the biggest things Karlyn was known for was advocating for cameras to be put in classrooms so people can see exactly what kids are being taught. On January 18th, she proclaimed that Matt Walsh and The Daily Wire “stole her work” in regards to this.
On January 21st, she started running in defense of Eliza Bleu, who gained notoriety for faking a story about being human trafficked and using it as a grift.
On March 7th, Karlyn said that it is intrusive to keep kids away from pedophiles.
On March 15th, Karlyn claimed she knew the contents of a video that her pedophile ex, his friend, and a 14-year-old child were in. Apologies for the low quality.
On March 19th, she wrote a Substack (A) in defense of Dylan Mulvaney using female pronouns to describe him. She also discusses drama happening within LPNH.
Sometime in March, the Mises Caucus (the group in the Libertarian Party that has been influencing them to move farther right) kicked out everyone in LPNH, including Karlyn.
The Mises Causes kicked Karlyn out due to past comments about her spiritual beliefs, calling it "bad for our brand."
She left the Libertarians following this and on the 24th wrote a Substack (A) detailing what happened.
On April 26th, Karlyn wrote a Substack (A) discussing her thoughts about Nick Fuentes. It wasn’t particularly in defense of him - she argued that he was failed by conservatives.
On October 4th, Karlyn tagged Nick in response to a tweet from Cassandra MacDonald asking, “Who do you want to see IRL in the next few months?”
On October 10th, Karlyn praised Nick for comments he made in the wake of the October 7th attacks.
On October 14th, Nick said that he “fell in love” with Karlyn in response to a superchatter during his show.
Her love affair with the Groypers would start bumpy, as on October 22nd, Wurzelroot stream sniped her, causing fellow Groypers to disrupt her stream and making her cry.
In the days following, Karlyn went on Beardson’s show and Politically Provoked to discuss the incident with Wurzelroot and made amends with him on the latter show.

In early November, Karlyn’s tweets would start to become more and more anti-Jew, attracting more positive attention from Groypers.
On November 13th, Karlyn created a Substack called Nick & I (A), in which she chronicles Nick’s experiences with cancel culture and how it reflects her own.
On her Nick & I Substack, Karlyn wrote an article (A) about
Ethan Ralph on November 28th, talking about how he got kicked off Cozy. This would gain the attention of the Ralphamale himself and he would fling shit towards her on Twitter on December 4th.
On December 5th, James Lindsay blocked Karlyn with her believing that it was due to past drama she had with Moms For Liberty. She also would say that she’s better than him at teaching about the left. James will become very important later.
On December 10th, Ralph infiltrated a Twitter space Karlyn was in and attempted to confront her about her pedo ex.
On Christmas Day, Karlyn would announce that former Killstream cohost BigTech is her “new online boyfriend” and show a clip of the two of them stream sniping each other. She and streamer Stardust also got into a slapfight.

On December 30th, Karlyn accused Poetrypainter of being a pedophile, in a comment below a photo of her with her nephews. Poetrypainter is a former friend of Karlyn’s and former moderator of r/conservatives, which hosted an AMA with her.
2024: BigTech, Big Problems
2024 began with a disastrous debate with Grace Thorp on why her father Ben is a narcissist.

In the days following, Karlyn agreed to a debate with Ben but cancelled it after a back-and-forth with him on Twitter in which she claimed he threatened to drive to her house and kill her.
Starting in February, Karlyn and her followers began harassing James Lindsay, saying that he’s incorrect in his “teachings,” particularly focusing on how he won’t say “whiteness means capitalism.” Karlyn also once said that she stole his work.
One particular tweet that gained attention on March 1st was a photoshop of Karlyn as a dominatrix to a submissive James.
In the coming months one of her followers even created fan fiction of Karlyn and James in BDSM situations. (1, A) (2)
On May 25th, shortly after Nick Rekieta got arrested, Karlyn acknowledged Kiwi Farms for what appears to be the first time by saying that we were to blame for Rekieta’s downfall.
Null commented on this.
A day later in a stream in which she watched Metokur’s Rekieta stream, she would make further comments about the Farms in response to chatters.
On May 27th, it was announced that Karlyn would be a VIP at AFPAC IV.
AFPAC IV happened on June 15th and was a disaster, barely lasting a day. Karlyn went live the next day talking about her experience.
She explained that a few Groypers walked her around, and referred to them as her “managers.”
She called many of them adorable and would date half of them if she was 20 years younger. Chief Trumpster and Not Racist Groyper are singled out.
According to Wurzelroot, Karlyn was in Chief Trumpster's lap (2:00).
She also said she got a hug from Nick.
On the 22nd, BigTech released DMs between him and Karlyn before AFPAC, showing that she asked him if he wanted to go with her days prior and thirst pics she sent to him a couple months prior.
Karlyn later released DMs in which BigTech warned her about the Groypers and attempted to spin it by saying that he was seething about her having a good time with them.
On the 26th, BigTech showed more DMs on his stream, in which the two argued over a video and she wanted him to get on a call with her.
Another DM included Karlyn saying she was meeting with her "gay faggot psychic." This is in reference to her longtime personal psychic, Joshua MacGuire, a homosexual man, who would do weekly livestreams with her. He stopped appearing on streams after this and their streams together were privated, suggesting this caused a fallout between the two.
BigTech showed more DMs on a stream on the 28th in which Karlyn attempted to blackmail him. This marked their last private communication.
On July 19th, Karlyn announced that she started identifying as a fascist.
On Election Day November 5th, Karlyn wrote in Nick Fuentes for President and Chief Trumpster for Vice President.
On the 10th, Karlyn went on a road trip out west with literally who wigger Groyper Ciggy.
Karlyn described in a Twitter space on the 17th that their stint in Vegas didn’t go well, as there was an incident in which Ciggy got aggressively drunk and almost left her there.
In early December, Karlyn rebranded Actively Unwoke to Better Discourses, an obvious jab at James Lindsay’s New Discourses.
2025-present: Karlyn Today
In 2025, Karlyn rebranded Better Discourses to Decode The Left, which remains the current name of her organization.
In January, James Lindsay’s estranged stepdaughter was found on Twitter, who claimed that James was in a one-sided open marriage with her mother (thus only James was seeking out other partners).
Karlyn had a field day with this and released DMs she had with the stepdaughter. The stepdaughter went dark not long after.
Karlyn released a couple new books a month apart from each other. This was possible because she used AI to help write and research them.
On September 18th, Karlyn went on Fox to discuss Antifa being designated a domestic terrorist organization. This gave her many new subscribers due to her exposure to numerous boomers and her streams briefly got a bump in live viewers, with her streams on Antifa reaching over 1k.
On October 24th, Karlyn went to Portland to attempt to document Antifa. Later in the night she posted a video that she was attacked by “two MAGA retards.”
This was later revealed to be a narrative she created to make it look like she was the victim, also posting a faraway two-second clip of her hand getting slapped.
Andy Ngo later posted new footage showing that she was the aggressor, getting in the face of one of the men and getting her hand slapped away because she shoved her middle finger in his face.
The man who slapped her confirmed that she was aggressive and he only made contact with her hand.

After this, she declared war on Andy Ngo for presenting clips “out of context.”
As of 2026, Karlyn’s audience has dwindled to having 300 or less viewers per stream. Her current content mainly consists of “teachings” of what far-left groups are getting up to and sniping their trainings, and still gets into fights on Twitter.
