I watched Dr Who for years but gave it up when they turned him into a woman.

Had misgivings about the replacement bloke but watched it for a few mins until the tranny singer appeared and then switched off.

I wanna see bad guys getting their arses kicked, not some fucking bimbo sitting them down and exploring their psyches with a cup of tea or giving trannie freaks screen time.

I just watched the Christmas special and I don't really have much to say but I liked it, and Ncuti Gatwa is a lot better than what I was expecting and the new companion Ruby Sunday is a little boring and generic but she could be worse.
The goblins singing about how they want to eat a baby was a little morbidly funny but not that hilarious and hearing the doctor and his companion sing was a little out of left field for me, but as an American this is the first time I've seen both Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson do I probably lack any context of their performances.

Overall the episode could have been worse but could have been better especially with a new actor at the helm.
7.5/10

though the part where the doctor impales the goblin king was pretty cool and brutal

I've never understood the Superwholock bullshit. I'm only vaguely aware of what Supernatural is and I don't understand how it fits into the other two shows.
Well a couple of things.
1) All 3 shows had a 'duo' structure. Doctor + Companion - Two Brothers - Detective + Sidekick.
2) All 3 shows had (apparently) super hot guys in them that made the entire tumblr website wetter than Niagara falls, so pairing all the husbandos together made a collective squeal that could be heard for miles.

RTD isn’t writing like he did in 2005. Had a talk about Who on Christmas with the family. His writing, style and structure is way different than it was.

If it was the same as ot was, I’d not be hating it.
It was definitely noticeable with the Tennant specials. Nctui's first episode felt less off because it wasn't trying to replicate something from 15 years ago.

Did anyone catch the "mavity" reference in the Christmas special? It might actually be a recurring thing.
Yeah, seems like that's going to be the Chekhov's Gun of this series. We'll get the big reveal in the last episode of how we ended up in the alternate timeline with 'mavity' and racially diverse Isaac Newton. (And it's going to be lame.)

I found the first 2 Tennant + Tate specials entertaining, woke cringe moments aside. The 3rd one - nope.
I haven't seen the original Celestial Toymaker story, but I would've thought a cosmic force of pure chaos should take more cunning and more than 1 episode to defeat. It felt like he was really sold short as a villain. Now that we know he's stowed in a box in UNIT HQ, hopefully they'll let him out at some stage so he can have a proper dance-off with the new Doctor.

And ok, the moral message in this episode was rather ham-fisted too. So video screens planted the seeds of hatred in humanity, and no-one was ever radicalised by preachers, pamphlets, or any other broadcast media that existed before television. Sure. Everyone's afflicted with the belief in their own rightness, but when the Doctor exposits angrily on how hateful technology has made us, he's definitely the one person who is actually right, and 100% justified in shooting down a global comms satellite with no preamble. Harsh, but being killed by that same laser was a kind of poetic justice.

In spite of that the "bi-generation" felt pretty sad. Imagine having all your friends forcibly persuading you to retire from what you love doing, and just leave it all to the younger, handsomer guy. And yet the franchise refuses to retire Tennant once and for all, sticking him into another contrived happy ending with another companion (after that one they gave to Rose way back when). It's not story-telling anymore, it's just indulgence.

I'll stop there and waffle about the Christmas special in another post.

Russell T. Davis' perspective on zoomers when he wrote the giggle (colorized 2023):

I have not watched this show since 13th's first season. I could really overlook a female Doctor - I like Jodie Whittaker - but Chibnall's godawful writing was even worse than Moffat's and I really have no desire to watch the show again. I don't care if RTD is back. I don't care if the Doctor is black. I won't watch it, because the well has already been poisoned.

Pottery. He's not really back though because as pozzed as RTD has always been, he's now super mega pozzed and openly shitting on the fans on Xitter.
I can overlook the Doctor being a black faggot. If they were going that route they should’ve just done Richard Ayoade, but whatever. But for some reason since around midway through Moffat’s term and straight through Chibnall quality control has been fucking nonexistent. It’s not even fun, or well written, and everyone is phoning it in. RTD, even in his glory days, couldn’t save this. No one can. Just hang it up and make a movie and come back in 2034 when all of the unimaginative losers in charge are done and retired.

One of the biggest problems, in my opinion, is that the writers and showrunners genuinely lack imagination and creativity and are just shitting out scripts because the Beeb wants to keep this shit on air.

It would actually have been a brave move to have a black Doctor in the '80s or '90s. Now it's just "oh another one of these." The most annoying thing about wokeshit is retards acting like they're being innovative by doing something that's been done over and over.
