I can't keep doing this forever, especially with how terrible contemporary Who has gotten... But I've at least decided to drunkenly stumble my way across my originally stated finish line (The end of Series 2.) We still have more than one serious stinker to go... (And maybe a few good ones too)

For now? It's the Age of Steel.

Right off the bat, was "Delete Delete Delete," ever a Cyberman catch phrase before nu-Who? I admittedly haven't seen every episode of classic Who, but the Cyberman never said it in any of the classic episodes I've seen.

I do remember hearing that The Borg from TNG, 's catch phrase "resistance is futile" was more or less stolen from the Cybermen... who have apparently said both, "To struggle is futile" and "Resistance is useless." I also vaguely remember hearing the cybermen in nu-Who say some variation of "You will be assimilated," and it isn't like they didn't know.

Back from the opening credits, and 10 is using err... *something* to make a Cyberman outright dissolve. I originally thought it was his sonic, and I was about to say how stupid that was, but the transcript page I'm also reading says it was a TARDIS power cell. If that was set up in the first episode, then I don't remember it.

alt-Pete just found out that his wife, alt-Jackie is probably dead. He seems to be upset about this. Why?
Alternatively, Rose doesn't seem to give a shit about her alt-mom being dead. Lol, why not? (I'm asking because of how much she originally cared about going to see her alt-dad)

The blonde dyke from the first Matrix movie pulls up in a bus to rescue everybody. Right on.

Ricky actually seems to have some balls, as he wants to kill Pete for working with Lumic. (alt-Pete isn't actually working for Lumic, he's a double agent.)

I actually kind of like Ricky. If I didn't know how this was going to end, I would be hoping that he accidentally ends up going back to the prime universe with 10 and Rose, while leaving Mickey in the off-brand universe. Sadly, only half of that ends up happening. Until 10 doesn't want to go that is...

Like I said, it looks like alt-Pete is a double agent. Right on. And he even makes the Scooby Doo joke I was literally just about to make, haha. (Mickey is still the Tin Scooby)

LMFAO, I don't remember Ricky saying he was London's most wanted in the first part. (I don't watch these sober), but Mickey was backing him up even and he's apparently "most wanted" for parking tickets. TFW Ricky literally could have watched television without paying for a loisence and been more wanted. (I still like Ricky though. Britbongastan is just a joke even in the alternate universe.)

I love how alt-Pete is still dismissing Rose for having the same name as his dog, and being a member of the catering staff. lol.

Lumic's earpods being able to arbitrarily control everybody's behavior ends up being a dangerous thing. Who would have guessed it? Oh right... Everybody did. It is weird that Lumic still didn't choose the upgrade though...

I don't like the look of the "nu" Cybermen now, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I thought they looked cool when they were the only version I was familiar with... In retrospect though, they aren't so great.

I'm gonna give Noel Clarke some credit here... When he's directly playing off of himself, I genuinely believe that Mickey and Ricky are two different characters. That isn't easy to do.

Lol, uh oh... Mickey and Ricky just split up and then one of them got electrocuted and caught and killed by the cybermen. I wonder which one it was...

Lumic's butler(?) just tried to kill him lol. Guess he's getting that upgrade after all. Right on.

HAHAHA they're playing it as a mystery for a second, which version is still alive? Ricky's boyfriend and Mickey's (exe) girlfriend both ask "is it you." Ah well at least Mickey gets a token hug from his exe girlfriend.

Ricky's boyfriend hates him for now though.

That hate lasts about 2 seconds though. Mickey isn't going to be anybody's tin dog anymore. I think Jake (Ricky's boyfriend) is attracted to that, because he's like 'ok'.

Rose embraces 10 much closer than she did Mickey and he sees that.

Good god man, are you finally starting to realize that she just isn't that into you? Right on mate.

10 and the blond dyke are walking down a pathway of inert cybermen. I sure hope that they don't come to life soon.

Rose has no reason not to tell alt-Pete why she is trying to be so close to him. I know he isn't actually her dad, but what's he going to do if she tells him that he is in an alternate universe? Not much I wager. She did almost the exact opposite when she met her real dad in the past and it *did* actually matter. Dumbass Rose Tyler.

10 just got the blonde dyke to tell him her life story. I totally bet that she lives through this. lol.

uh oh.. the inert Cybermen are coming to life, nobody could have possibly guessed that. lol.

Pete and Rose (oh dammit, I just realized that's a reference to Pete Rose, like how Jack and Rose was a reference to Titanic, right?) are trying to save alt-Jackie. I guess they failed though because she's a Cyberman now. lol. I guess she just became a lot less evil.

10 just unscrewed a cyberman's chest plate and pulled out a handful of gooey white shit that the blonde dyke called "flesh". This is either fantastic foreshadowing to season 6's "The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People" or... 10 just stuck his hand into a cyberman's chest and pulled out some oddly-placed cum.

Lol, that Cyberman was actually a woman. My guess is some dude fucked her chest hole.

Oh no! Blonde dyke just died.

LMFAO> Lumic got designated as the newest "Cyber Controller" but he's still stuck in a chair and unable to walk. There's no good reason for this, except as a joke. I for one think it's hilarious.

Mickey just tricked a Cyberman into punching a transmitter and saving a shit ton of people from voluntarily walking into their cyber-converted deaths. Mickey has now officially saved more people than Rose Tyler ever did.

I like that Mickey is the one who ultimately shuts down the Cybermen here, but I don't like the fact that 10 feels the need to *still* call Mickey an idiot multiple times while encouraging him/telling him how to do it. Mickey has clearly and repeatedly proven himself to be smarter than Rose Tyler ever was... And 10 never calls *her* an idiot.

Likewise, I also liked it when 10 threw his sonic to alt-Pete to be the one to ultimately stop the Cyberman from climbing up a rope ladder, saving them all (even if it didn't make much sense. How did the sonic cut through a rope ladder? Oh well, guess it doesn't matter!)

I knew this was coming, but it's still funny. Mickey decides that he wants to become the new Ricky. Why the fuck is Rose pretending to cry here? I've seen every other episode of this show so far. It's clear that she doesn't give a shit about Mickey.

I guess he's stuck in this parallel universe "forever" (lol, or at least until RTD decides that he should be randomly paired up with the only other black character in the show at the time when 10 needed to regenerate.)

To end the episode, Mickey tells Jake that he isn't trying to replace Ricky, but they should still take out the Cybermen on a date in Paris.
Ricky was clearly gay for Jake. I don't think Mickey was, he ended up with Marfa after all... But I still wouldn't be at all surprised if they ended up being butt buddies at least once. Especially since RTD was writing things.

I don't remember anything at all about the next episode "The Idiot's Lantern". Idk if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

The video gives too much credence to the "Cartmel Masterplan" being key to season 27.

Season 27 was going to be a transition year by all accounts: Ace would be written out/sent to the Time Lord Academy, the Doctor would pick up a lady thief sidekick and her father as a new supporting cast, and Ice Warriors would have come back after being MIA for ages.

The big arc for the season would have been the thief lady character: after dropping off Ace on Gallifrey, the Doctor would go to Earth in the 1960s and help a morally ambiguous gangster's wife give birth to a daughter. The following episode would have a cold opening sequence where the daughter (now a grown woman/cat burglar) at a fancy party, sneaking off to open a safe and finding the Doctor waiting for her, to effectively "collect her" to be his new companion per a deal he made with her father (now a legit businessman) with the idea of the Doctor being summoned by the dad to help convince his daughter that it was better to do good than be a thief.

Final episode would have most likely been the introduction of the Eighth Doctor assuming a deal to get McCoy locked down for a couple of extra seasons fell through.

Big Finish made audios of that season and they're actually pretty good. The thief character is interesting and the plots are pretty good.
Tragically, she was never used outside of that range other than a 4-part special that introduced the Alex Macqueen Master. IDK if that was a thing with Andrew Cartmel (who wrote the 7th Doctor Lost Stories for BF) or if someone had a hard-on for Ace (who wasn't even supposed to be there for most of them) or what.

Didn’t BF also give 6 an actual regeneration story to pass the torch to 7 after how Colin Baker got screwed out of one?
It's the last one of the current, terrible era with the broad who can't act.
That’s THIS Sunday? I thought it’d be later in the year.

Yeah they did. I've heard it's good but never listened to it.

Check out audiobookbay for Big Finish stuff if you're interested.

I can't muster up any excitement for tomorrow's finale. There doesn't even seem to be a decent lead-in to it like with the other regeneration specials, it's just "there's a lot of enemies and here's some cameos".

As if it hasn't suffered enough...

Dr Who in Magic: the Gathering.
Which "it"

Neither have really been in a good place for a while, this seems like a perfect marriage of awful currentdayness.
