I feel like I should be clear. When I called Jodie’s doctor a grandma, it might feel like a compliment because the first doctor‘a deal was literally being a granpa.

It’s not a compliment. I don’t mean that she channeled William Hartnell and portrayed a stern yet powerful female figure., like Maggie Smith can do. Someone that is mature and wiser than any human hope to be.

I mean in the sense that she is like añ obnoxious grandma that sounds super cringe by copying young people slang (or tennant performance’s in this case), and trying way too hard for kids to like her. She is that kind of grandma. I, unironically, wouldn’t be surprised if her doctor knitted sweaters for her “fam.”

There are rumours he's leaving after the second season he's filmed.

So the rumors say that he has already filmed season 2 and he is already left. But also that the new companion was just fired for being a diva from season 1 and she will be replaced by the yet to be filmed season 2?

Which one is it?

If anything the new companion announcement makes him leaving far less credible given he still has episodes to film and they could change their minds.

Doctor Who, like Star Wars, is just a hot-bed of gossip that frankly, everyone should be ignoring the fuck out of.

Watch the episode, comment if you like (I'm talking about YouTubers), and shut up about whatever rumors are flying.

I think the second series has filmed or is filming now. People are just finding out about the situation so information gets messy.

I'm sure there's exceptions for really, really bad Doctors or ones that were ruined by bad writing.
The only one that comes to mind is Colin Baker and that's more because the director was fucking his wife iirc. I'm not saying it's impossible for the same thing to happen, but knowing Nctui it would be highly unlikely.

I've barely watched Doctor Who since the end of Twelve where I was starting to drop out already. Who are these people and why is DW a "hell of a drug? One on the left looks alright to me. Maybe slightly crazy eyes.

Not really. McCoy had probably the worst writing of any of the Classic era and lasted a good long while. Colin Baker got three seasons and he got some pretty bad writing poor guy (he's phenomenal on the Big Finish audios). Meanwhile Christopher Ecclestone was a good actor and starting to hit his stride by the end and got his only one season. The reason being something quite separate from his ability or the writing. Politics and connections seem more to do with it than quality to me.

The author Lawrence Miles attempted to do justice to the Time War. It was filled with bizarre concepts and the fact that it wasn't even clear who the enemy was. It wasn't the Daleks. It was something altogether more sinister.
Can you elaborate?

Willingly, but I have already done so earlier and I think was just missed.
Earlier post.

Regarding "The Enemy" specifically, as I said it wasn't the Daleks or if it was not in an obvious form. The Book of the War talked about how the Great Houses (i.e. the Time Lords) were the ultimate conservative principle of the universe in that they're essentially trying to preserve a coherent pattern that has progressed steadily from the beginnings of time and that the "Enemy" was as much a principal as a species, though they did apparently have a leader. The Great Houses avoided granting the Enemy a name because any name would effectively take away from real understanding of the enemy which was better described as a process. I seem to recall that the Enemy had come from the far end of Timem perhaps its end, and seemed to have some sort of goal of unravelling the existing pattern of Time's events and sequences. It's been a long time.

And either the Master or the Doctor (or possibly the War Lord) was made interim leader of the Time Lords as best suited for war. I think it was also said that there was some defect in the looms that produced a generation of Time Lords which is why you suddenly had several renegades all occur in one go (the Doctor, the Master, the Rani...)

Had misgivings about the replacement bloke but watched it for a few mins until the tranny singer appeared and then switched off.
What are you talking about? At first I thought it was about nucti and the troon, but the troon appears way before nucti and I don't think it sings.

The new trailer looks whatever really. Definitely more promising than anything 13th had but Russell T. Davies didn't even give the audience a breathing room before returning to his "The most important companion of all time" schtick he used every season. Seeing the Doctor and his really special companions save the world again and again got old.

Visually this new season looks like it will be actually good unlike the last two seasons and TARDIS looks great again but RTD is where I have some questions.
