Looks like they're just doing Tegan again with a splash of Molly from Dark Eyes for the companion.
I quite enjoyed that one. Marred only by "love saves the day" Deus Ex Machinae ending. But the Dalek's plan is clever enough for what it's worth and they actually get away successfully having achieved their goal. You also get the silly-but-plausible comedy of Matt Smith battering a dalek with a giant wrench whilst it asks him "You do not require teaaaa?"Victory of the Daleks - Pretty sure most people don't even like this one. I remember it as being mostly meh, one of the worst episodes of series 5, which I otherwise liked a lot. I didn't hate it, but it gave us the Mighty Morphin' Dalek Rangers meme...
Which were thankfully forgotten quickly.
This was a favourite. Clara before she devolved into the final maudlin character and with some good character moments for her. An Ice Warrior as an actual threat. Callbacks to Classic Who like the Hazdaz system or whatever it was called. That bloke who played Brutus in HBO's Rome. Strong episode all around. Matt Smith era is my favourite of NuWho era. The arcs weren't great but the individual episodes were often fantastic and next to Troughton, Smith is my favourite Doctor.Cold War - I actually did like this one. Using the Ice Warriors as an allegory for the "Cold War" worked well for me. It helps that David Warner is always fantastic, and I like Duran Duran to boot.
This one sent Gallifrey Base into fits (online DW fan forum. No idea if it's still there). The Doctor snogged a girl without permission and they all went into a meltdown about consent. The Crimson Horror - I didn't even remember that Gay-tis wrote this one. I do remember that the lesbian lizard lady abuses her "wife" pretty much any time that they're on screen together (even though that relationship doesn't even remotely make sense in the Victorian era, not really Gay-tis's fault, but this was another boring episode.)
He has the right dapper look and the bowler is a nice touch.Looks like they're just doing Tegan again with a splash of Molly from Dark Eyes for the companion.
It'd probably be held in higher regard if the "part 2" that followed it wasn't complete god awful dogshit. Not gonna lie, I believe "Heaven Sent" is overrated. Not a bad episode by any means, (and infinitely better than what passes for this garbage show these days, but that goes without saying.) but I don't think it would have been remembered nearly as fondly in a better series/era of the show...
I could not agree more, and should have said as much before, my bad. What good is even a perfect setup (which for the record, I do not believe that "Heaven Sent" was.. But it was still pretty good), when it ends with the wet fart that was "Hell Bent"?It'd probably be held in higher regard if the "part 2" that followed it wasn't complete god awful dogshit.
Its a mystery but it doesn't play fair because it doesn't conserve mass. Things like the extra set of clothes, the mountain of skulls etc mean that the early loops were very different from the later ones, but we never got to see those because then the mystery would have been impossible to maintain. Not gonna lie, I believe "Heaven Sent" is overrated. But the only reason that retarded two-parter happened was because Karen Gillen (and wossface) were moving on to greener pastures. Unfortunately the Moffat era had power crept the Doctor to a point where he was impossible for the plot to contain without author fiat. The good ending would have actually been The Doctor creates the very cracks in space time in his future so he can go to see Amy and Rory. Which loops right back round to the fact that the cracks were the very reason he met them in the first place.
Reminds me of that bit from The Impossible Astronaut:Clara: "She wouldn't!"
Doctor: "She would!"
Sure. My point was I’m surprised the series ending with the doctor going to meet Amy and Rory by doing the very thing that caused him to meet them in the first place and start a plot that lasted his entire run not only did not happened but wasn’t planned out from the start. But the only reason that retarded two-parter happened was because Karen Gillen (and wossface) were moving on to greener pastures
A Moffat ending that isn't a cluster fuck? Sorry, not a thing. It’s the most Moffat of endings whilst also not being a clusterfuck.
Does anyone even watch this shit anymore?
Series 5 worked fine. He can totally do them.A Moffat ending that isn't a cluster fuck? Sorry, not a thing.
I'm pretty sure it's some kind of rights issue. So Tubi apparently has all the seasons of the Classic Doctors all 7 of them. They should add 9 and 10 cause I dunno why BBC wants to keep that exclusively for Disney + but whatever. HOWEVER for some fucking reason BBC has edited the First Doctor's episodes to start from the Daleks saga totally omitting the earliest episodes focused on time traveling history instead of Sci Fi. This completely ignores the set up of niece Susan and the teachers Barbara and Ian's companion origins. Did BBC do this because the early episodes were kinda retconned the Doctor's origins? Or is this some Timeless Children political bullshit? So weird they included the reconstructed Second Doctor's lost episodes with animated ones but omitted the 1st ones. I know they ain't lost I remember them being on PBS back in the day. I want to marathon Classic Who but gotta start with the series looking elsewhere SMH.
Yeah, the son of the screenwriter for Unearthly Child and the BBC are engaged in a legal battle over the story. I believe part of it is that he's owed royalties because he says is father invented the TARDIS. I don't understand British copyright law, although I think it's a bit like how Terry Nation's estate owns rights to the Daleks and Philip Martin has rights to the character Sil from Venegance on Varos. The dispute is goin on for a while now, but as result the first Doctor Who story is not on streaming t the moment.I'm pretty sure it's some kind of rights issue.
