Hello. I am kind of crossposting from the BigBunjee thread over to this one. Unusual crossover but I'll do my best to explain - Bunjee released a review on Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor run, in true Bunjee fashion he doesn't hold back and made lots of off color jokes at the show in general since it's chock full of "diversity" garbage.

So here's the shot, as they say...

And here comes the chaser.

A disabled Dr Who "fan" reacts to the video and it's a really terrible reaction. To condense my rants on the Bunjee thread, these are the main things Mr Wheelchair Cyberman does in his reaction:

1. He takes offense to every joke Bunjee makes - almost like he's actively refusing to let himself be entertained which, as some people may forget, is the point of a review video.

2. He contests, misinteprets and straight up strawmans every criticism made by Bunjee - it's the "leftists pretend not to understand anything, making any discussion impossible" meme personified

3. He acts smug about being able to predict the clips Bunjee uses as examples of bad writing in the Nu-Who series, including the 60th Anniversary specials and the Fifteenth Doctor run. So what if you know what clips people have a problem with - what's your actual defense of the writing in those clips? What about the charade of figuring out genderless Meep's pronouns, for instance, fits into the ethos of Dr Who as a series? He doesn't actually answer that question.

All in all a very pathetic display of "fandom" from Wheelchair Cyberman. I guess I'd just like to ask this thread - what did you think of Bunjee's review? What did you think of Fat Cripple's reaction? I don't watch Dr. Who (though I am interested now thanks to Bunjee) so I want to see what the Whovians think.

I've been watching through the show starting from Troughton's era, and it was quite cathartic to see the "obstinate facility leader gets in the way of everything out of pure ego" plot eventually mature into Inferno, which was probably about as good as you can make that story.

Every other episode from the end of Troughton into early Pertwee had this plot, to the point that when I started Inferno I groaned, but they actually made it work. If you watched Inferno in a vacuum, it might even be better.

I just started Season 8 and they had the same character archetype in The Mind of Evil but killed him off halfway into the first episode, which gives me hope that they've decided to sunset this particular cliche, at least for the time being.

I always thought, if they wanted a non briton to play the role, they should have cast Idris Elba. He's an actually passable doctor candidate, he has a fatherly vibe, and he can do gravitas.

Nucti was a dogshit choice for the role british or not.

If you told me at any point between 2008-2016 that Elba would be a future doctor I (And I think most people) would reply with "Yeah that checks out actually."

Its probably too late now but a Rowan Atkinson and Idris Elba doctors would have saved the show imo.

Seems unlikely, but they might have given that trait to The Corsair who had a snake tattoo in every regeneration. Sort of a nod to Pertwee's own.

I mean I know its the thing everyone brings up about him but im pretty sure he could turn up the vibes from this interview and make a good doctor.

The real thing is that people might complain about a female or black doctor but if they hired a good actor and the show was good then people would just accept it. The problem is nobody who already has a successful career wants to do it.
You can fantasy cast as much as you like but everyone you pick has better things to do or is just completely uninterested.

1. Disney pretty much turned on the show the moment season one flopped. It was dead after that and everyone realized season three wasn't happening, hence the last minute reshoot with Gatwa turning into Billie Piper, do e solely to frun up publicity to get the show renewed.

2. Gatwa also jumped rather than was pushed, as he didn't want to be tied down to the show when season three was indefinitely delayed.

3. BBC wanted Tennent/14 back full time but while RTD reluctantly agreed, Tennent won't come back full time to the show and RTD himself apparently has full on trolls remorse on setting up a "spare" Doctor out there, living with Donna and her family.

4. RTD shot down the BBC pitching Doctor Who moving to a theatrical film format to him.

5. The only reason for the Christmas special is that the BBC want to pretty much wipe the slate clean for when season three finally happens. Supposedly, besides featuring the Daleks, it will also resolve the Timeless Child arc and Tennent has been approached about at least appearing in said special in some shape or form, so they can do a huge grand finale of sorts to the entire RTD era of Who.

6. The BBC pretty much wants season three to be a clean slate restart and have mentioned the start of the Matt Smith era as what they want out of a post RTD era Who. With the idea of locking in a young unknown actor long term for the role.

7. But the big one, is that the BBC wants a new creative team with ZERO ties to the RTD clique running the show going forward and have made it clear that whoever takes over will not have RTD/Moffatt/Chinball's carde blanche creative freedom to do whatever they want. And who does BBC supposedly want running Dr Who? The guy behind the infamous incel fear porn show Adolescence, Jack Thorne! Which posses RTD off because Thorne is not tied to him in any way, meaning that the gay mafia's 35+ year run stranglehold over the franchise is over....
