I can't tell whether or not it's Chibby's fault for telling Jodie Whittaker to act like all the worst bits of 10 mixed with all the worst bits or 11, mixed with "muh vagina", or Jodie herself's fault for being a fucking trash actress (I don't know that for a fact, but her tenure on Doctor Who is my first exposure to her, and so far I'm not impressed.) I'll just split the difference and say they both appear to be pretty bad to me.

This Doctor is so unlikable that I *loved* it when she got knocked down a few pegs this week, and I'm not entirely sure I was supposed to. Yeah it sucks when people patronize you, doesn't it Doctor? Maybe you'll stop doing it to other people? Like, when they're trying to defend themselves from evil aliens? Yeah, I thought not.

Graham and Ryan were both great in this episode. I feel like I've said that every week, but it's still true. Graham in particular in that stupid hat was great.

Yaz continues to be a mostly non-character, despite having more episodes dedicated to her than everyone else combined... However, the part that *isn't* a non-character is really just awful. Jesus Christ, quit playing the victim. You got a job that you have more than proven over the course of this series that you were wholly unqualified for to begin with, and yet you still wanted more.

As others have said, Alan Cumming as King James was fucking amazing. I get he was supposed to be *yet another* "evil white male", but I think it backfired. More please.

Aside from that, this wasn't a bad episode, but it was really clearly trying to be, lol. Is there a prize for failing at failing?

Regardless, I dedicate this song to the Doctor pleading (and failing) to convince King James that she wasn't a witch:

Nobody has commented on this week's episode yet.. I feel you all. It was probably the worst episode in... several series. They brought terrible black grandma back... and made her a ridiculous frog to boot, That was so dumb. I'm more embarrassed to still be a doctor who fan than I have been in many years. And yeah this is the worst Doctor since Tennant and Rose brought out the worst in eachother.

Haven’t seen it yet. Might do so this evening.

I’m going to respectfully disagree here. Anti-gun bullshit notwithstanding, Whitaker’s actually my second favourite modern Doctor after Christopher Eccleston and I’ve enjoyed this series a lot more than the shitfest that was Series 10, although it would probably be middling in my rankings of all the NuWho series so far.

Respectfully disagree is right. I think we are at just about opposite ends about what makes a "good" doctor. For one thing, I can usually separate a doctor from the (usually terrible) people writing for them. Smith and Capaldi were both way better than Tennant and Eccleston, but the writing of the show in general let them both down. (Which is ironic, because RTD himself was a pretty terrible writer.. Guess he just knew enough to surround himself with better writers) Moffat did not do that, and Chibby thought so much about himself (despite his previous episodes being mostly terrible) that he's given himself a writing credit for almost every dumb episode this series. (Even Moffat didn't do that)

Disagree about Eccleston. Without him I wouldn’t have gotten into the show. He didn’t play the Doctor as an overly quirky character (while he did have quirks, Doctors need quirks). He was more human, more down to earth, and had rules. He also had my favorite regeneration out of all of the Doctors because of the optimism it ends on. This guy who survived a war, regretted his actions and is learning how to enjoy life and adventure again. If it was Matt Smith being quirky and everything is “cool” I wouldn’t have gotten into it.

I don't give Eccleston the props some (like you) do. In retrospect, id rank him among the worst of all Doctors (not as bad as Davidson though). I truly think the only reason so many people rank him so high is because he was their first Doctor. In general, I'm not a RTD fan, and while RTD's stupid shit got a lot worse with Tennant, it was definately there with Eccleston.

I was not a fan of that episode. It just kept throwing shit at you and expecting you to think them as being awesome twists. The only reason the girl was blind was so that there could be a lame twist about there being no monster, the nature of the other world was far from interesting, and why the fuck was black granny a frog? It just reeks of QuIrKy HuMoUr for the sake of it.

It was alright, but it was more like three interesting ideas mashed together that didn't match the sum of its parts.

I do like the adorable fleshmoths- they strip the BONE. I like how you briefly see one crawl out of the skull socket.

Watched last week's episode and the finale almost back-to-back.

I wanted to like last week's episode more than I actually did. There were some interesting ideas and Norway's a good setting, but the fucking talking frog at the end was absolutely laughable. I don't know how anyone looked at that and thought that was a good idea. Bradley Walsh stole the show and elevated the episode above "Arachnids in the UK" and I'd say I enjoyed it more than "The Tsuranga Conundrum" too.

This week's episode... could've been a bit more epic. It didn't really feel like a series finale. It's cool that they brought the Stenza back to finish what he started and the shrinking planets plot was a decent callback to "The Pirate Planet". I'll admit I was rolling my eyes when the Doctor was telling Graham he couldn't kill the Stenza and I was anticipating he'd do it and then be kicked out of the TARDIS like the other Doctor was in "Journey's End". Glad to see they didn't go that way. The life imprisonment thing was actually more satisfying, although I'm not ruling out the Stenza may be making another appearance down the line.

I just feel like this series could've done with a stronger story arc. We had the thing about "the Time Child" which is still unanswered and I've only just remembered Graham had cancer in the first episode. I don't remember them ever bringing that up again, which is weird because I thought it was going to play a big role in the series.

Overall, I stand by what I said earlier about this being a fairly middling series. Not bad, but not great either, and nowhere near the tour de force that was Matt Smith's first series. "The Woman Who Fell to Earth", "Rosa", "Demons of the Punjab" and "The Witchfinders" were my favourite episodes, with everything else falling into the okay to less than okay category. Still really like Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor and I hope she stays for one more series at least, or if not Big Finish snaps her up.

Guess it's just the wait for the New Year's special now.

So they're making a New Year's special instead? Jesus they are trying too hard to be PC, just air it on the 25th and call it a "holiday special" if you don't wanna offend the large minority audience Doctor Who clearly has.

Because we all know if it's one thing Muslims love, it's watching a show with a woman as the lead.

You know, at this point I would prefer they just go full social justard, and make specials for Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and whatever Muslim Christmas is called. There could actually be some unintentional lulz that way.

Edit: Also apparently there won't be any Doctor Who in 2019. Good riddance.

Maybe more time to write it. I still need to catch up on last week’s and I figured the tooth fairy would be back.

As for the non-killing thing I remember in Human Nature didn’t 10 go nuts and give all the members of the family horrible eternal punishments? I like that!

I've procured this week's episode, but I haven't watched it yet. (@TheImportantFart 's summary didn't exactly endear me to it... I'll probably watch it tomorrow.)

I know I have gotten something of a reputation on here for being a "hater" of current Who.. But I really, *really*, don't want to dislike Doctor Who.

Deep lore here, I was somewhat late to becoming a fan of Doctor Who- My first exposure to it was the Paul McGann TV movie, back in '96... and despite being a huge fan of Sci-Fi in general, even when I was that young, that movie left me mostly confused... (because that movie failed to do anything to set up the history of the show, and was frankly kind of bad...)

Skip ahead almost a decade, and RTD shat out his version of Doctor Who... Yeah, I kind of liked it.. the first series at least (oddly enough, the episodes that RTD himself wrote were basically shit.. and that never actually improved) -and the second series was so awful that I almost stopped watching the show entirely... But Series 3 was better, and Series 4 was even better than that, but by then Sci-Fi (or as it's now known, Sy-Fy) had stopped playing it... I went back later and saw all that I had missed, but I didn't see "Doctor Who" again until Series 5 with Matt Smith, which is to this day my favorite series as a whole.

For what it's worth, Series 5 is the first in New Who to have an *actual* story arc.. i.e. all (or at least most) of the stories in the series actually added something to the whole of the story. (In contrast, RTD's definition of a "story arc" is to have a single word or phrase repeated every other episode, which means nothing to anyone watching it until the series finale wherein it suddenly means something completely stupid) - Bad Wolf, Torchwood, Mr. Saxon, He will knock four times, yeah fuck all that shit.

Edit: Chibby's definition of a "story arc" is even worse than both of the previous show runners- a random phrase ("Timeless Child") gets said in an early episode, it's never brought up again, and even by the end of the series, it still means nothing to anyone watching. Yeah fuck this shit.

I have no feelings towards that last episode. It left me with exactly no impression except for how the teeth stuff was still a really bad idea from a costuming perspective
