So I'm slowly working my way through Ravenous 3...

I've expressed some opinions on this series as a whole so far, and will likely express a few more when I finish the last 2 stories in this one... However, while listening to Ravenous 3.1 earlier, they dropped some info that I couldn't help but comment on here and now. (Will spoiler appropriately)

As I've said before, 2 box sets into Ravenous and we barely even know what a "Ravenous" is. (Which isn't *necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think it's been handled well here.) To my knowledge, Big Finish still haven't released any official pictures of the Ravenous, and they were very light on verbal description during the like 5 minutes of 'screen' time they've gotten so far. This changed in 3.1, they do actually give a physical description of the Ravenous and...

Apparently the Ravenous look like clowns.
(Or rather, even more stupidly... clowns look like THEM.)

You can't make this shit up.

I did like 3.2 a lot better though.

So apparently an episode of the newt season had a Trump stand-in? Came across this video in my recommendations.

So Torchwood was mostly shit, and I've never liked Captain Jack as a character, but I am definitely getting this...

I think it's just one of 4 stories, but the cover depicts Captain Jack as the 6th doctor,
because Sixie apparently dies and Jack decides to wear his coat and pretend to be him for some reason.
Bad photoshop aside, that sounds absolutely batshit, but in a good way.

I thought Jack’s actor was an upstanding guy but he’s supported that genderqueer nonsense in the past (there’s videos of him at cons where he talks about it positively as part of LGBT topics) and it’s hard to respect him as much after that. He was enthusiastic about it so I wonder how informed he is about how bullshit being things like ‘nonbinary’ is. Or how much he could be lynched for saying the wrong thing as a cis gay man, but he’s a British actor so I guess he’s safe under the radar.

Depends what he means by it really. Honestly I have no problem in principle with people going around being enby or whatever, I just have no obligation to participate in your LARPing.

Err... you do know he's super gay irl, not just the character right?
Yeah of course I do? I said he was a gay man later in the paragraph. I get the whole ‘LGBT is together for solidarity and support in numbers thing in the past’, I just think having a well loved minor celebrity giving a big ol’ thumbs up to Milo Stewart types is not good for impressionable fans (but fandoms are a spergy lost cause anyway) and being a cool older gay guy doesn’t necessarily mean he’s good to listen to about matters of transsexualism (or the circus it’s become today). I hope he doesn’t step on Rat King shit.

For the record, you *didn't* really make it clear that you were aware that John Barrowman was gay, but I'll believe you knew it. He hasn't even remotely tried to hide it.

Even still, I'm just saying... it's a bit unrealistic to expect a gay celebrity, even in England (maybe especially in England, seeing how full social justard that country as a whole has fallen), to not act exactly the way that other social justards would expect a gay (especially a gay white male, who would otherwise need to check his privilege even harder were he not gay) to act.

Anyone LGB and older is already on thin ice just by existing and would instantly turn into problematic shit and be unpersoned if they said anything bad about God's chosen people the motherfucking troons.

When I was saying the ‘cis gay man’ thing I was referring to the actor, not the character, who’s bi or totally omnisexual for aliens anyway. And even if I didn’t know he was I would’ve found out by the time I watched the con where he gets a marine’s number.

jeezus hopping Christ, I hated the last season but this ... the guy that plays Graham is the only sane man left ...
Well that was pure cancer.

How about something a lot better....

Back to this thing.

I was wrong about the "Jack becomes Sixie" story in this being the first of 4 stories. In actuality, there are only 3 stories in this set. (And to be fair to me, the first box set in this line had 4 stories, and most other Big Finish Box sets do as well these days, I guess they got stingy.) But TBF, I only cared about the first story anyway..
Yeah it's probably odd for me to be giving a review of a series I haven't fully listened to yet, but I've already said... I don't particularly care about Captain Jack. I got this one for the episode with Sixie. If I had one complaint about the first story of "The Lives of Captain Jack: Volume 2," it's that it didn't get anywhere near as crazy as I was hoping it would...

It was really interesting to hear Barrowman doing an impression of Sixie+(imo 7+)Also Captain Jack, which I *think* makes sense in context... But it wasn't until like 3/4 of the way through story where Sixie (who didn't actually die because of something something) showed up as "Sixie mixed with Captain Jack"... I think... complete with a totally bullshit "American" accent that this became the exact kind of cheese I was hoping it would be.

To be clear, "Captain Jack as the Doctor" was great. Barrowman actually used a British accent that sounded enough like Sixie that I bought it, and he still also kept the level of horniness that Jack's always had... It makes sense in the story. He literally ends up fucking and "marrying" the (robotic but female) enemy of the first act. This is all hilarious. It's played as how Captain Jack would act if he were the Doctor, and I actually buy it. I'm selling the story short, because there are consequences (which I won't mention)

By the end, Sixie comes out as "Captain Jack", and tbh I have some problems with that... (A certain character who should recognize Colin Baker's likeness, because she saw him before he "died" as the Sixth Doctor doesn't recognize him when he comes back at the end as "Captain Jack"... with a hilariously bad western accent. But yeah... this story is still totally enjoyable to me.

I might talk about the other two stories in this set at some point, but not tonight.

So apparently the meme episode of Doctor Who will be playing in theaters next Wednesday, August 7. I don't remember if I've ever seen The End of Time in its entirety. I started watching Doctor Who during Smith's run and skipped around the RTD era because everything after Eccleson left was shit. I do recall a scene that felt like a backdoor pilot for RTD's other series, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Mysteries, but that's about it. Is it any good? Is it crap? Should anyone go to see this in theaters? Inquiring minds want to know.

there' a mega64 bit where the mexican shouts 'DOCTOR 'WHO' FUCKED MY DAUGHTER?" and everytime I read Dr. Who that's what I think of.
