I jumped well clear of the doctor who bandwagon back in 2014 after that fuckin moon episode but after reading up on this shit I get the feeling there is a new uncontested king for the title of "shittest doctor who episode in human history" and thats before you factor in what others have said about the the plotline being ripped off from KANGZ conspiracy theories about how everyone of any note in history was achtchully black but this was covered up/black children being murdered and harvested by white elites for their precious black melanin
Also, let us reflect in amusement that chibnall, in his infinite wisdom, decided to unironically destroy the shows continuity and retcon everything in the shows history, solely so he could engage in the biggest woke baiting diversity enforcement imaginable, which in itself is entirely due to a cynical desire to get fawning media writeups and to wallpaper over his own laziness and mediocrity by spinning his bullshit as stunning and bravely important and being conspired against by evil bigots who hate the show for having wammen and ethnic people.

I'm glad that Moffat killed my ability to enjoy the series years ago with his inability to move his head anywhere but ever further up his own arse, so that I can now enjoy the absolute fucking travesty it has turned into since. This is now just a straight bunfight between Chibnall and Kurtzman to see who can do the most damage to their respective long-standing sci-fi property.
So far, Chibbers has the lead as Kurtzman has only ruined continuity, setting and several major characters, whilst Chibnall has ruined everyone and everything basically barring UNIT, as far as I know?

I'll be honest, I've watched most of Dr What this season and only one thing really came out of it.
Sacha Dawan's performance of The Master was great. He went about chewing that scenery to the point his whole mouth was filled with plywood splinters and paint chips and it was clear he was having way too much fun. It's exactly what was needed even if the script was boring.
He pulled off a way better performance than the (still rather talented) Michelle Gomez just couldn't quite manage.

Also I just realised another ultra-cynical reason chibnall made the realtrueoriginal doctor black.

Barrowman's character was quite interesting through its entire run, but Davis got bored of Torchwood very very quickly and kept cutting down whatever he offered to the BBC when they went to him for a new season.
Torchwood's the only TV show I honestly know of which goes from 13 episodes on a channel barely anyone watched (BBC Three) to 4 episodes on BBC One. Normally the BBC does the exact opposite, expanding the budget and episode numbers the higher up the channels you went.
EDIT: I'd also like to add I'd watch the absolute shit out of a Jo Martin run as female Doctor with a competent writing team because she's a good actress and seemed to bring actual gravitas to the role of an immortal Time God. She'd kill it as a motherly Doctor treating her companions more like kids.

I always thought it was one of those established rules that the Doctor's origins would remain a mystery...Not even Moffat was arrogant enough to draw back the curtain on that one. I wonder if this is some sort of ploy by the BBC to get people to take interest in the show again, although it'd be a bit like setting your shop on fire to make it more eye-catching.

I’ve been avoiding this thread because I wanted to try and watch this series in a vacuum and judge it for myself. But I’ve just watched that last episode and... Jesus.
Do you know why John Nathan Turner kicked The Other storyline into the long grass and it ended up being restricted to sources that were ambiguously canon? Because he rightly recognised that it would destroy the mystique of the Doctor, which is integral to the show. People have given JNT a lot of shit over the years, but he was right on the money with that one.
But you know what? The Other storyline has nothing on this. Even with the Other, they were still just nudging and winking, and going “Maybe this happened, maybe it didn’t, who knows?” It was an intriguing (and plausible) explanation for who the Doctor really was, while still leaving some room for debate as to whether it was true or not. And being the third mysterious founder of Time Lord society is a hell of a lot more impressive than the person they nicked the regeneration gene from.
The woke aspect of this is actually the least of its problems. I literally couldn’t have cared less about that. It’s just fucking dumb in general. The Hartnell line of doctors reached the end of their regenerative line with Matt Smith. But apparently the Timeless Child can regenerate ad infinitum. So did the Time Lords grant the Doctor a new set of regenerations unnecessarily? Does the Timeless Child get a new cycle of regenerations with every mindwipe? I don’t fucking know.
At least with stuff like “Love and Monsters” or “Orphan 55” they were just bad episodes. You could forget about them and move on. But this? Even if I go back and watch Classic Who now (which I was planning to do this evening), I’m going to have this hunk of shit rattling round my head the whole time. And Big Finish aren’t going to ignore this because they take their marching orders from the BBC. I can’t believe the Doctor isn’t even a fucking Time Lord anymore.
I wanted to give Chibnall the benefit of the doubt, I really did, but he’s spat in my face at every turn. The female doctor isn’t the problem here. That could’ve worked just fine. It’s the shitty writing that’s the problem, and it’s reached a new floor with this. As bad as Series 11 was, its worst crime was that it was boring. At least it kept its hands off the Doctor’s backstory. As others have said, even Moffat was never dumb enough to attempt this. I’d take muddled story arcs and irritating Mary Sue companions over this any day.
The one good thing I can say about this series is that as @Ponderous Pillock said, Sacha Dhawan is bloody brilliant as the Master. He’s better than Simm and Gomez put together in my eyes and I dearly wish I didn’t forever have to associate him with this nonsense. Jo Martin is also a really likeable Doctor, and again, I wish I didn’t have to associate her with this.
The only way they can possibly get around this is by saying that it was a vicious lie the Master made up to troll the Doctor, but as others have pointed out, they probably won’t do that for fear of being called racist. I know Doctor Who continuity makes absolutely no sense if you really look at it, but you shouldn’t fuck with the basics.

It's a big shame because a Martin/Dhawan Dr Who run would've played out really well, especially with his Cyber Time Lords cropping up here and there as an entourage, mocking everything they once stood for as their corpses moved about fucking things up.
You'd be able to kill them for a bit and force them to regenerate which puts them still in the "holy shit dangerous" category while still not being quite as retarded as the Dalek's became.
It just feels wasteful for the woke points rather than bringing us something that would've been amazing.
