Flip's tolerable for me purely because I find Lisa Greenwood kind of cute. The character herself is actually pretty grating. Constance is too bland for me to recall, but she is played by the same chick who played Tallulah in "Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks" ("Whadya dun wi' Layzlow?") so that's another mark against her.
 
I don't have it anymore but I loved the Big Finish where Six returned to the Land of Fiction with Zoe and Jamie. I gather it was the end of a trilogy? Or something? One of my favourite Docs with two of my favourite companions was gold, especially as it referenced one of my favourite older stories!

Having the Cybs convert Moby Dick was bonkers, as was having the Artful Dodger - Oliver Twist is probably like the "British Moby Dick", in that everyone knows it and "has" to read it, and it's engrained in culture.
(that's just my perception as someone with a parent from each, maybe others think differently)

That's Legend of the Cybermen, one of the best Big Finish stories ever. It is the end of a trilogy which also contains City of Spires and The Wreck of the Titan. The first two stories in the trilogy are pretty good and worth a listen for additional context, but Legend of the Cybermen blows them out of the water. The ending wrecks me every time.

Yeah that's the one! I could tell from the beginning it wasn't their first adventure together, and that they were also not permanently in Six's team (Jamie didn't remember the Land of Fiction) but I never really looked into getting the previous stories.

It seems like they're trying to meet in the middle here. This "audiobook" seems like it's being marketed as an already released 4 part audiodrama (And that's probably the case, I bet the scripts for these were written before Baxter died) that was repackaged as an audio book.
Just like the classic Jago and Litefoot releases, it does seem like this is broken up into 4 different stories... Except each one is going to be read by a different person.

Don't get me wrong, I'm at least glad that all of these 4 narrators have at least some tie to the rest of the series, but...

Part 1 will be narrated by Jamie Newall. Longtime J&L fans might recognize him as the guy who played "Aubrey" - Technically three different characters, all with the same name and voice. (The first was a random side character who first showed up when Jago and Litefoot were accidentally dropped into the 1960's in Series 5. The second was his apparent ancestor who randomly showed up when they went back to their own time in series 9. The third was an alternate universe version of the second character, who randomly paired up with another ancillary character to be the alternate universe version of Jago and Litefoot in series 13.

Part 2 will be narrated by Duncan Wisbey. I actually liked the character he played in J&L, he was a buffoonish shittier version of Litefoot, but they killed him off in Series 2. I guess they felt bad about that, because they brought the actor back to play his character's detective descendant when J&L were accidentally dropped off in the 1960's- again in series 5. That was like 8 years ago. He hasn't shown up in Jago and Litefoot since then.

Part 3 will be narrated by Lisa Bowerman. And I have nothing against that on principle. Not only did she play one of the 2 main characters of the Jago and Litefoot series who weren't the two titular characters. (Speaking of which, Conrad Asquith as *Inspector* Quick should have been one of the narrators of this. My lazy google search says he may have retired though, so eh if that's the case...) She also directed the vast majority of the Jago and Litefoot series, and as such she has my respect.
She's also the official Big Finish voice for Bernice Summerfield, a character I don't really like all that much... even though that has nothing to do with this. I don't know why I brought that up.

Part 4 will be narrated by Christopher Benjamin, Henry Gordon Jago himself. If this whole thing *had* to be a narration read by a person, instead of acted out as an entire audio play, I would have preferred he did the whole damn thing himself. I don't know why he didn't.

I have no choice though, I will be getting this. I hope it's good.

Agreed. Jago and Litefoot was my favorite Big Finish range. They should just recast and restart the range.
 
@TheImportantFart Well I listened to Peri and Piscon Paradox. It was as good as you said. The first half was a lot of fun but in the second half when it all comes together it's brilliant. It was surprisingly sad in places, but at other times had me genuinely laughing out loud. I didn't anticipate the "twist" of the second half and I enjoyed every minute of it. Even if "follow that carp" may be the worst pun I have ever heard. Clever, in-character, and the format worked well for me - Peri's a good character and Nicola Bryant has a very easy listening voice. It's nice that someone so pneumatic is still appealing on radio as well. Thanks for the recommendation. Probably listening to the Mahogany Murders, next.

I didn't know he wrote Kingmaker as well but it has the same genuinely clever (not over-complicated pretending to be clever) plotting. And he's dating Nicola Bryant? Talented and lucky! I'm a little envious! :D
 
I don't hate Peri, just her terrible American accent.

Here's a fun fact that will probably blow your mind - Peter Davison is (very technically speaking) the first non-white Doctor.

To elaborate on that bombshell, Pete's Dad was a part Afro-Guyanese immigrant from British Guiana with (and I quote) "dark skin and hair, West Indian accent, and gold tooth". Pete got all his Mum's Caucasian genes (this isn't unheard of with mixed race children - I had a friend at school who was half Indian and he was white as a sheet), which is why you'd never know from looking at him.

It is slightly surreal to me to find out that the whitest Doctor ever is actually the least white from a genetic standpoint.

He was actually a good Doctor. He started out strong in Castrovalva and it was more John Nathan-Turner's alcoholic deterioration that fucked up the end of his run (and the subsequent disastrous Colin Baker run).

I have a soft spot for Five because he was my first classic Doctor, but I also understand people who think he's a complete wet blanket.

I also partly liked him because it just amused me that Tristan Farnan from All Creatures Great and Small was suddenly the Doctor, and doing a pretty good job of it.
 
Apparently there are rumours floating about that Olly Alexander is gonna replace Whittaker as the Doctor.

It doesn’t seem to have been confirmed at all as of right now, but a few of the news outlets are banging on about it. He’s gay so even though the doctor’s a man again they’ll still look woke if they really do cast him.

She spent almost her whole life avoiding association with DW because of how raw a deal she got, although I do remember she popped up to celebrate the 50th back in 2013, which was a big deal to the oldheads since it showed that she wasn't too bitter. I hope that meant she lived a largely happy and fulfilling life away from the showbiz spotlight. RIP

Appearance wise, this guy looks really fucking weird, so I could definitely buy him as an alien, as opposed to Whittaker, who looks like a mom that tries to match outfits with her 4 year old daughter
