I don't care which side of the aisle you fall on, there's something particularly perverse about using children, the most innocent members of our society, to prove a political point - any political point. Keep the children out of it. I feel the same way about parents who bring their children to drag queen story hour as I do the parents who bring their children to protest outside the abortion clinic. I don't give a shit what your beliefs are, some things are just not appropriate subject matter for children, and using kids as political semaphore is really fucking low.

Other than the fact that they're fucking pedophiles, here's another theory:

The sunk cost theory. They can observe that the conservatives, even the christian fundies, were 100% right about the gay menace, and where normalization of homosexuality would lead. They can see it in real time. But they absolutely must virtue-signal by sacrificing their children to various crossdressing priests and prophets of Baal, because otherwise they'd be forced to admit that their hated political enemies were right.

I forget who said it, but that's the wrong question. The real question is why do troons need to perform in fetish gear and twerk in front of children? And the answer is obvious.

Then when the degenerates start circumventing the bans and holding them anyway?...mhh that's when you get the support to break out the "heavy artillery. " if you get my meaning....

AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 7, Chapter 51, Part 14, relative to adult-oriented performances.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 7-51-1401, is amended by adding the following language as a new subdivision:

"Adult cabaret performance" means a performance in a location other than an adult cabaret that features topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to a prurient interest, or similar entertainers, regardless of whether or not performed for consideration;

SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 7-51-1407, is amended by adding the following language as a new subsection:

(c) (1) It is an offense for a person to engage in an adult cabaret performance:
(A) On public property; or
(B) In a location where the adult cabaret performance could be viewed by a person who is not an adult.

(2) Notwithstanding § 7-51-1406, this subsection (c) expressly:
(A) Preempts an ordinance, regulation, restriction, or license that was lawfully adopted or issued by a political subdivision prior to the effective date of this act that is in conflict with this subsection (c); and - 2 - 000187
(B) Prevents or preempts a political subdivision from enacting and enforcing in the future other ordinances, regulations, restrictions, or licenses that are in conflict with this subsection (c).
(3) A first offense for a violation of subdivision (c)(1) is a Class A misdemeanor, and a second or subsequent such offense is a Class E felony.

SECTION 3. This act takes effect July 1, 2023, the public welfare requiring it, and applies to prohibited conduct occurring on or after that date.

It doesn't even prohibit drag in front of children as long as it isn't for "prurient purposes," something which would have to be interpreted to comport with the First Amendment, which generally does prohibit regulating such material in the case of minors.

So you probably couldn't ban drag for the purpose of humor or some other non-sexual purpose, but this business of child molesters twerking and groping horrified kids needs to stop. Calling it "family safe" is bullshit.

Is it weird to anyone else that teachers are almost universally twentysomething women and genderspecials with bubblegum hair and atrocious fashion?

I'm not even that old and when I was a kid most of my teachers were retirees trying a second career or church ladies.

I guess I should be thankful that I didn't grow up in the era of every fucking teacher trying to see my butthole and convincingly me to chop my bits off.

I think everyone else has too much self-respect to enter K-12 education now. The hours and salary are terrible, most schools are dismally underfunded, and you have to deal with all kinds of quasipolitical bullshit like whether little Aizyleighe is a troon.
