God damn, I wish I played Gohan's campaign since I got spoiled by my friends on Black Gohan. The sad thing is that it is an infinitely better idea than Black Goku in every conceivable way.

I remain surprised that I've yet to see any memes or shitposts about Gohan Negro but hopefully they'll start trickling in with time.

I never played a Budokai games so I mostly feel like I'm running away, charging ki and spamming strong attacks since I'm unsure on how normal fisticuffs should be handled and I'm too much of a lazy fuck to go through the training missions. Gameplay... ain't getting much love from me, but I am having fun with the branching scenarios. Goku only for now but it is neat to see Goku and his buddies repelling the saiyans and Freeza going to earth instead of Namek.

As for the Super sperging... was alright. It's the most blatant fanservice I've seen, but I enjoy seeing Tien, Krilin and Roshi be relevant again, so I ignore power scales and try to enjoy it for what it is. But I've never been that invested in Dragon Ball to get pissed about it and am one of those "classic kid Goku dragon balls is the best Dragon ball", so take that as you will.

Rewatching Z, its filler is also surprisingly better than I remember it being in a lot of cases.

Also kind of fucked up a whole entire mini-saga can be skipped over when it also had some neat shit in it.
Out of every anime I've ever seen I legitimately think original Dragon Ball has the best filler. Z's non battle filler is good too, but a lot of fight filler is people just standing around wasting time that drags it down. DB though the filler is all good character stuff, or world building, or things like what Goku was up to during the multiple time skips. It also helps it never goes on too long.

It's always like 4 episodes here and there of Goku just helping a few people, or what happened to Nam when he went home, backstory on Roshi/Shen/Mutaio, or extra what are the bad guys doing when they're off screen. stuff like that. most of the time filler is boring and useless but in og DB it really helps flesh out the world and character's personalities in ways that I think is never actually detrimental. It's the only anime off top I can think of that whenever I've watched it I've never been like fuck can we get back to the main plot? when Z isn't doing battle filler it has this too to some extent like Vegeta during his planets explosion, Gohan and Piccolo during the year before Nappa and Vegeta, the days before the cell games, etc.

Are you talking about Sparking Zero or you talking about the old school Budokai games that came before the Sparking/Budokai Tenkaichi series came through?

I liked that Namekians were changed back to being demons. It always felt a bit weird how these green niggas from a random shithole planet had magic so powerful that they could create the dragon balls.

This has undoubtedly been the best change Daima has made so far, it makes so much more sense for them to be magical entities that entered into the Z Fighter Universe than just random magic aliens. If you go back and watch Dragonball it's not like Demon King Piccolo had Namekians fighting for him, he was summoning the same kinds of demons you'd see in other Dragonball episodes. In an earlier episode Goku entered the Demon Realm to save a princess and the demons had similar designs to Piccolo's minions. That could be a coincidence due to Toriyama's art style but it felt very intentional and played into the established Humans, Beasts and Demons dynamic of their world. They obviously went away from this theme with the introduction of Saiyans but within universe humans, beasts and demons are still very much real and on Earth. It feels nice that they're acknowledging the roots of the series while also still doing a lot of the Sci-Fi stuff that made Z fun.

On a different topic I think this series is really gonna hinge on how good/bad the new characters are because it seems like Goku/Vegeta are gonna be spending a lot of the series just traveling with them. A lot of people didn't like GT (or the traveling to Namek episodes in Z) so if this is an exploration-heavy series the characters have to be super likable. Pan and Giru are still controversial to this day so they've got to be careful this go around.

Oh! didn't know there was possible confusion. I'm talking about Sparking Zero. Also, is there anything more ballbusting than having to fight all of the Gyniu force in a single fight? I ended up lowering the difficulty and spamming spirit bombs like a pussy, but it cost me more than I'd like to admit and I hope there aren't more "gank" fights in the future to dread.

That's the second worst fight in the game.

Piccolo vs 17 made me fucking rage with how stupid the time needed to kill Cell before absorbing 17. Even if you "kill" Cell, you still have to finish the fight with 17 and cell can STILL ABSORB HIM EVEN WHEN HIS DEAD!

That kind of confusion is becuase the Sparking games before Sparking Zero were localized as Budokai Tenkaichi overseas because of the popularity the Budokai name had there (Japan only called the original 3 Budokai games Dragon Ball Z like the anime and the sequels had the respective number at the end to denote them), it's when you sit down to play the two series where you see that they have almost nothing in common with each other.

Thank you gentlemen for the information.

On the topic of Sparking Zero, can the capsule buff items be used in story missions or is that only for versus and online?

After spending some more time demoing Sparking, it ain't for me and that sucks but ih well. Beautiful game but I just cannot get the hang of the controls. No matter the control scheme or how I set the layout. Just doesn't feel good in my hands.

According to my Google abilities, no.

Old school Z fan. Daima popped up on Hulu for me, is it worth watching? GT had a few cool moments, but was mostly annoying, IMO. Thought Super was decent.

I got to say, Goku being so happy in Daima is pretty heartwarming. Makes me think he was sick of power level bullshit and just wants good old adventuring.

I managed to get through most of the what ifs in the stories. Piccolo I mastered, but the others aren't as easy for me.

Goku's what-if during Saiyan Saga was honestly really good. Especially since there's two paths you can take, depending on what you say to Piccolo.

When you're the hero of earth, you don't have time for adventure.
