I thought it might be nice for there to be a thread where people can post drawing tips, and ask questions about drawing

I'll start...
I need to draw a character who's painfully skinny (he's sick, we don't know this til the end) but usually wears really baggy clothes. How can I draw it so he's wearing a big jersey, but you can still tell he's too thin?

What's this for, comic or are you just drawing him? How thin is painfully thin? Because if it's a comic you could just as easily foreshadow it somewhere in the story. It doesn't have to be too obvious in their design.
Illness or not it could reflect pretty much everywhere else, like their face, neck and hands.

It's sort of for a comic - I'm not gonna draw the whole thing, I'm writing it, but it's just to help me with visualizing some of the scenes so I can script it. Plus, (I think) some places that take script pitches want some visual representation, so I want something to show...

He's gonna be masked, so he can't have a gaunt face. I think I worked it out - the jersey is gonna be slightly too long, and the line at the bottom is gonna be jagged, so it looks baggy. If it's striped you can see where it's empty and where he's inside it. Plus as you said, skinny neck and limbs...

Don’t give him sausage fingers and make sure not to give him a double chin.

Look at images of people with eating disorders for reference. Many people with anorexia will wear baggy clothes to hide their condition and, from my own observations, the clothing does hang differently on their frame. For example, on a person of average weight, a slightly oversized sweater will still catch on the chest or hips or stomach, curving around that shape. When there's nothing to catch on, it just hangs like it's on a clothing hook, if that makes any sense. So draw nearly all loose fabric with only tension revealing the body shape probably at the shoulders alone.

for what you're talking about, the advice is simple: study drapery. get good at drawing cloth hanging off things (especially cylinders) and the rest is easy.

there are plenty of good tutorials out there for this specifically.

Is he losing his hair, too? You can show that he's losing his hair by making it thinner/more translucent so you can kind see outlines through it, especially of his scalp.
