The natural question to ask is if Drew was always like this. The answer is yes, of course.

Drew DeVault's Internet presence in the early 2010s included a project he started called KnightOS, an operating system for the Texas Instrument brand of calculators.

His OS was well-received in the niche community of calculator enthusiasts, and he and KnightOS eventually made their way to a calculator forum known as Omnimaga.

Under the username SirCmpwn, he even ascended the ranks and became one of the Coders of Tomorrow (an autistic term (archive) for Omnimaga's programming team).

But all good things must come to an end. Since this is a lolcow thread, that end comes in the form of a spergout on Drew's part.



You see, Drew DeVault is an enlightened atheist. He knows that all religions are bullshit, therefore he must say "Your religion offends me" and "I don't have to respect your religion - in fact, I don't."

For this and him allegedly posting porn links in the forum's IRC chat room, merely one day later, he was demoted from being a Coder of Tomorrow.

But not for long. Eventually he became staff again, and then got into a slapfight with another staff member in the IRC channel. He won the fight by banning everyone and shutting the room down.

If that wasn't enough, he also ragedeleted a thread dedicated to posting the releases of a calculator programming language known as Axe (archive).

As a result, his Omnimaga account was banned and deleted. But SirCmpwn wouldn't stay away from the site for long.

Two months later, he created another account named KnightOS, saying he would only use the account to talk about KnightOS things.




Some welcomed him back, but others brought up a history of him sending death threats (which I was unable to find).

Unfortunately, he would soon be rebanned, due to some unspecified incidents that took place on Omnimaga, and another calculator forum named Cemetech. Public information on these incidents are sparse.

Even as late as July 2017, there are allegations of SirCmpwn causing trouble on another calculator forum named CodeWalrus in November of 2015.

Politisperging​

As you can guess by now, Drew DeVault has political opinions, and he puts them everywhere, even in unrelated places.

A perfect example of this is when he likens "anti-Wayland activism" to "anti-vaxxers, flat earthers," and "9/11 truthers" and accuses them of harassment with no evidence.

For context, the windowing system that has been used in Linux for over 20 years is X11, while a new system called Wayland is slowly being adopted. Drew is mad that people aren't blindly accepting Wayland and are thinking for themselves whether to adopt it or stay on X. It's not hard to see why, considering Drew himself is the original author of a Wayland window manager named sway (archive).

This can be seen with how he runs SourceHut. Drew is the man behind SourceHut, a place to store code (if you've heard of GitHub, this is a competitor). He made SourceHut explicitly political, erroneously conflates white nationalism with Donald Trump, and says SourceHut will not do business with Trump supporters.

Hyprland is a compositor for Wayland. Don't worry about what a compositor is; for the purposes of this section just think of Hyprland as a Wayland thing.

On September 17, 2023, Drew DeVault published a hit piece against Hyprland, claiming it is "toxic" because people in its Discord server hold wrongthink opinions.



He says that moderators changed a tranny's pronouns from "they/she" to "who/cares", and sensationalizes this by calling it a """harassment campaign""".



He also takes issue with the project not adopting a Code of Conduct, which ironically itself would be a tool of harassment to exclude anybody with diverse opinions.



Note that this isn't even the first time DeVault has tried to get Hyprland to bend the knee. He privately talked to Vaxry, the creator of Hyprland, in February:



But it wasn't enough then, and it's not enough now, because for woke leftist tranny dick suckers like DeVault, it's never good enough.

He demands that the leadership take a "serious look in the mirror" (a demand he will never follow himself, of course):
