Wow, great work as always, Markass. This guy seems like a complete fucking loser.

The mistake most Linux desktop users make is not running Debian and KDE. The only time Debian has ever disappointed me was when it adopted systemd. Even with that handicap, however, it remains the most stable and reliable distribution available.I am very glad that the GNU/Linux community does it's best to successfully deter me from ever switching to Linux. Not only is their software as stable and reliable as Windows Me, they'll also have zero inhibitions to sabotage it because of ideological reasons. Might as well daily drive a car with a planted remotely controlled bomb.
They put the fag flag right on the taskbar during fag month this year, made it non-trivial to disable or remove and (naturally) silenced/banned anybody who dared ask how to get rid of it.I haven't noticed this. I know they put in assloads of adware the likes of which would have prompted one to reinstall the whole system in the 2000s, but I've never encountered any outright wokisms in new windows and I've been using it for work for many years.
They hired Lennart Poettering a couple years back. That's right -- the asshole who gave us Pulse Audio and systemd is literally a Microsoft employee now. Make of that what you will.I bet Microsoft is actually funding these fuckers specifically to wreck Open Source's reputation and make sure it doesn't get industry adoption.
Definitely not enough. Somehow the natural order has been inverted. This shithead shouldn't be in the position to gatekeep anything. He should have been gatekept out of the hobby and industry a long time ago. If he'd tried pulling this shit in the 80's or 90's they'd have hounded him off usenet and banned him from every computer lab in a heartbeat. The most heartbreaking thing of my career has been watching this industry letting all the wrong people take control of the vital organs of the industry, and then watching them fuck it all up.I can't tell whether Drew got too many wedgies or not quite enough.
It's because the mentality throughout the community is basically people going "I can do it better" and they end up fragmenting themselves even further and further. A classic case of trying to create a standard and now there are 15 standards.I've said this a million times but the whole package ecosystem is a complete joke by design. Any sane operating system would've had a standard system for creating compatible software binaries and here we are 30 years later and Linux is still forcing you to manually recompile everything for your specific permutation of the OS.
I know there's shit like Appimage and Flatpak but there's still drawbacks to be aware of. Both Mac and Android seem to handle things completely fine despite still being Unix. (Detached from Apple's draconian developer policies)
Yup, his Twitter used to be @sircmpwn but then he baleeted it in 2017 for an account on his own Mastodon instance, @sir@cmpwn.com, and then he baleeted his own instance (which other people used!) for some reason (seems to be a recurring pattern...). He's jumped around a few Mastodon instances before arriving at Fosstodon in the present day.
Drew once worked for Microsoft:I bet Microsoft is actually funding these fuckers specifically to wreck Open Source's reputation and make sure it doesn't get industry adoption.
He was flown out to Redmond HQ:I work with everything in .NET that you can think of, but especially with Silverlight, XNA, and WP7. I'm a Microsoft Student Insider, and work a lot with TI calculators as a hobby.
He also worked for SpaceX.I was recently in Redmond (Microsoft HQ), hanging out with the rest of the Microsoft Student Insiders. Microsoft was kind enough to pay for my flights, hotel, and other expenses, which was great.
Proof it's him: pullpush (archive)I did the same thing, coming out as atheist early on. My personal age of reason was much lower than most, like yours.
However, it was a pretty big source of tension. They didn't quite kick me out, but suffice to say that I left two days after turning 18. It's probably a good idea to keep your atheism to yourself in a highly religious family until you know you can support yourself.
(on a side note: my little sister came out to me privately, and I'm incredibly proud of her! If my parents kick her out when she works up the guts to tell them, she's sure to have a place to stay with me)
Proof: pullpush (archive)Well, I'm only 18. I recently chose to move out of my parent's house because we were not compatible with each other's beliefs, and once I was 18 we both wanted each other out. I chose a lot of things:
So I kind of just do what feels right, logically. I still don't have a car, but I'm buying one tomorrow. Without it, my life would be much more difficult, and breaking the law to learn how to drive without a permit (in a safe, controlled manner) seems acceptable. I had a one night stand with a nice girl who I got to know a bit beforehand. I didn't pick her up from a bar or anything, and I used a condom. She has birth control. I don't think I really need to explain the "good" moral choices. I've been without religion for almost 10 years, so I'm pretty sure it has had little effect in shaping my moral compass.
- To illegally learn to drive so I could take a test and get a license
- To have sex in a one-night stand These were somewhat questionable moral choices. But I also chose to:
- Take up a friend in my apartment for a few days when his parents were being troublesome
- Donate to a number of causes (including doctors without borders)
- Continue to go to work and be a participating member of society, even doing good enough work to advance my raise schedule quite a bit
- Become a certified professional in two different fields
Proof: pullpush (archive)I'm often told that I am very intelligent and I produce quality work for my job, but school never interested me and I didn't make good grades. What means of proving my intellectual integrity are strong enough to realistically substitute for grades? My unweighted GPA was 2.54, and weighted was 2.63.
Proof it's him: pullpush (archive)So you're using IE or Safari, then. What are you doing on /r/osdev?
Lol I was wondering what a "Microsoft Student Insider" was and found somebody else's blog post explaining (a):Drew once worked for Microsoft:
Although:As of today, I am officially a Microsoft Student Insider. What is that you ask? Essentially, it is an unpaid job to blog about various topics that they would like me to blog about.
Still though, he did it for freeWhile I will be writing a minimum of 15 blog posts for Microsoft over the next year, I am also being sent, all expenses paid, to whatever conferences they want to send me to cover.
He used to work for Microsoft. Imagine my shock. He still does, even if he's now doing it for free, which I am skeptical about.Drew once worked for Microsoft:
Goddamn that was a good line of calculators too. Used to have a TI-83.He also has an account on this TI-84 website.
Barely into the OP and already off to a great start. Surprised I didn't see any ranting about carbrains under politispergingAmerican expat...based in the Netherlands.
Everything is political and we have to punch fascists both offline and rhetorically in the cyber realm.But today, in the year of our lord 2023, the tech scene is filled with turbo autistic soydevs who can't not politisperg even if it meant life or death;
And don't forget the LITERAL GENOCIDE happening against LGBTQPZ+.with a considerable portion of them being trannies or degenerates in general.
We need to punch THEM into the Shadow Realm.Everything is political and we have to punch fascists both offline and rhetorically in the cyber realm.
I always thought this was funny as well. I have been using Linux for many years, I play games on it, and do everything else. Eventually I did end up using Hyprland and keep as much interface as possible in the command line, because it is just easier and faster that way. Linux is based on UNIX in its design, and UNIX was designed for a very different environment of multi-user systems. Back when computers, or mainframes as they were called, cost a gorillion dollars. I don't think that makes Linux fundamentally unsuitable for single-user systems, as me and many other people around the world do it just fine, but the problem I feel is how everything is trying to be shoehorned into the Windows template.Linux was never designed to be a GUI OS and Windows was never designed to be a CLI OS.
I wouldn't count the Microsoft Student Insiders thing as working for Microsoft because the only work seems to be writing a blog post. I would categorize it as an outreach program.Drew once worked for Microsoft:
