FCC trying to ban all foreign drone components

Yeah, I liked Joshua Bardwell's take on this.

As you and likely others know, the FCC has a process for certifying the compliance of devices using radio frequencies. Any further certification of foreign devices is apparently suspended.

You're a HAM guy, so chances are you've either built or used equipment that wasn't FCC certified and it's perfectly legal. Of course, you can't violate the rules around band, power, and harmful interference but as long as you're operating within the boundaries of your license you aren't breaking the law/FCC rules.

Lots of items on the list aren't even radio devices, like motors or flight controllers (excepting those that have some kind of Bluetooth functionality, which again, can be perfectly legal to operate without certification).

I see the move they're attempting to make, but as is often the case, the administration has (as of the time I'm writing this) selected a questionable enforcement arm for at least part of the devices listed.

If we see FAA adopting some kind of clumsy new rules like this, then I suppose we'll be properly fucked.

Edit: It's also a shit time for the Dragon Link guy to have gone MIA, he could be raking it in now given he's local to Tucson, Arizona.

What are you currently flying? What's your FPV setup?
DJI Avata 2. People shit on DJI, but honestly, they put some thought behind the design.
I like that the batteries are akin to pistol mags and the holster is also the charging device.
I guess it is because of Geolocking.

How are you finding the Avata 2? Would you pick it over the 360? I got the Lito X1 recently and have been enjoying it and started getting into FPV. Have been using velocidrone before actually getting a fpv drone. I also see people shit on the Avata for being underpowered and not very repairable. I will probably get a tiny whoop and a 5 inch in the future but if I am going to end up buying DJI goggles 3 I'd probably get it in a combo with the Avata.

Does anyone have any input on Mavic 3 pro vs 4 pro? Looking at second hand currently and I can snag a 3 pro for less than $1000 dollarydoos or a 4 pro in the $2200-3K range. Worth the extra money for the 4 pro?

Anyone still love the design of the DJI Inspire 1/2? If v1.0 wasn't such a death trap I'd probably buy a used one to have a tinker with. You can rebuild the batteries which is super neat but probably time consuming
