I'm so fucking sick of seeing the "could have solved world hunger" bullshit trotted out. None of these people care about world hunger. They only care that their hug box is being taken away.

Speaking as a Gen Xer, watching a lot of my fellow Gen Xers become hardcore doctrinaire SJWs in their old age (and utterly insufferable in the process) is kinda like the secular version of discovering Jesus in midlife and becoming "born again" but only in the most self-righteous obnoxious way. Gen X is very individualistic/selfish, but joining the woke church is like adopting a kind of faux morality for many of them. It's them pretending in their old age that they're at last doing something for anyone other than themselves and their own base motivations. It's a pretense of adulting from a generation that swore to never grow up.

Usually it's the younger gens that slurp up the SJW stuff, and it does further show that a lot of the woke of today would of joined the born again religious right of the 80s and 90s.

Edit: I had a ex and her gen x mom, who was somewhat hickish and didn't fallow politics and use to make black people jokes all the time went woke around 2020, and has became insufferable as well.

Slight powerlevelling: a couple of the people I am (barely) social with (anymore) on social media are Gen X IT/media professionals who were heavily involved with Encyclopaedia Dramatica during its inception, because back then they were using ED to track and document and of course ridicule Livejournal drama (for any zoomers reading along: Livejournal was the tumblr of it's era). Both these erstwhile ED shitlords have since turned into massively insufferable SJWs and woke cult true believers. I've seen them do these social media threads where they're pretending to repent for their sinful ways on ED, while reposting every fucking SJW themed news story that crosses their feed to virtue signal about how they've really changed, they're totally adulting now everyone. You can plainly tell that whatever relatively harmless or playful sadism had led them to ED still continues unabated during their SJW phase, they've just found themselves what they think are new and more seemingly legitimate/"adult" targets and, more egregiously, they now get to be in denial about their same old base impulses leading them to join various SJW cancellation campaigns. It's pathetic to me how these people, so hypocritically and completely un-self-aware, apparently have this strong craving for some kind of absolution in their old age, but there you have it.

All you can really do is try redistribute it, which means every home you obtain to help the homeless is a home whose residents need to move away or become homeless themselves.

It's not even necessarily scarcity. In some cities there's supervised housing availably but the fentanyl junkies outright refuse to accept it because it'll mean they'll be supervised and won't be able to commit wanton theft and assault.

Whatever the case I know it's an apples to oranges issue but if 80 billion to just reduce an issue affecting a rounding error of a single small nation's population results in that issue becoming measurably worse, you're off your gourd thinking that half that amount will magically sustain every man woman and child on earth until the end of time.

My point is the solutions to these problems are with reforms of laws and regulations that enable those problems to exist, not with throwing any amount of money to it. There is no such thing as enough money to solve the problem. It’s not a money question.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t throw reasonable amounts of money into reasonably effective social programs and such, but increasing spending much beyond that might not have impact at all.
