The biggest problem with the megathread (other than all the power leveling) was all the times conversation from other threads (SoK, Fred Fuchs, BSV, etc) would spill into it instead of their respective threads.

I made the initial suggestion about breaking down the megathread not because there's anything wrong with it, but since he has a subforum now, it just makes sense. If all new content goes into the megathread with the exception of threads on his followers, there's not much of a point for the subthread. I'm okay with it either way, it just doesn't seem necessary to have both.

I will agree that having a Cult dedicated to him will make archival of past events easier to look back on if it's separate into years and topics.
However, DSP is a special lolcow as he puts shit out (vids, tweets, forumposts and what not) on a daily basis. often 5-10 each a day. It will be a pain to track and cross examine shit between threads, not to mention jumping threads amost daily to keep up. So I think the mega thread is the way to go, with maybe a few special threads dedicated to the side shit that goes on.

It's extremely unsurprising to me that keeping things more or less the same is getting the most votes, people in general dislike change. But the way I see it, things changed the moment it was decided to make a subforum (which is a good decision IMO). I am of the view that if we made a big change like this, we might as well go all the way and give it more of a try.

Because if we leave the general thread the same way it was. Then we might as well just close the subforum, because all kinds of content is just flowing there with no categorization at all and the other threads are completely ignored. It almost feels like a discord server. It also encourages shitposting & A-Logging since there's a decent chance their shitposts would go unnoticed in the sea of posts. Breaking it down into multiple less vague threads like we have done in the CWC board (Random thoughts..etc.) is more than sufficient. We are only missing a social network thread (IG/TW..etc) to completely replace the old thread, IMO.

On the other hand, we don't want to have thousands of small threads with no actual participation either. I think we only run this risk if we make a Twitch stream thread every day..

For me, it's all about how the content stream is arranged & managed. That is what will determine the quality of discussions here IMO.

I voted for the second option, keep the megathread and have some threads for special events like the EMERGENCY situations Phil is running every once in a while. There is no need to kill the megathread, as well as locking it for this poll.

Sure, I can understand that. I think the megathread really has an obvious need/demand, however Phil is such an extraordinary person that there is definitely enough content for a few other dedicated threads about some parts of his life (like his psychology, spending habits, documenting his income, his healthcare/diet and his Twitter account/forums).

If there were no subforum, then I'm sure the megathread would just get shitted up with the same questions/answers/observations over time about certain stuff, but with the subforum people can at least have a dedicated place to read/discuss aspects which extend over hundreds of pages.

The locking it part was really just a way to kinda 'force' people into giving some form of feedback, otherwise I doubt as many people would've voted etc. It also could've worked if people really took to making individual threads about each stream etc (such as how Chrischan's subforum seems to go). But people have said what they want and da megathread is back open.

Ok I'm locking this now, if you have any feedback please use the metathread: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/dsp-board-meta-thread.35727/
