Duke Nukem Forever 2001 Build Discussion

Neat.

It seems like the game isn't nearly complete as we thought but more like 75% there-ish. All they needed to do was add enemies, missing textures, voice lines, objectives, and most likely boss battles. That's still a lot but the skeleton of the game is here.

George turned out to be more insufferable than Randy, holy shit.
You had your chance with Duke. If anything, YOU'RE the reason Duke has regressed from its past glory. Stay salty.

"ERROR: Unsupported Method"
You unzip the first rar file and your extracting utility should search for the other rar parts.
George Broussard has always been a hack, for starters he didn't even created Duke Nukem as a character, his early games were just simple CGA stuff for DOS that not even Apogee fans remember very much (with the exception of Crystal Caves), he was only a producer on Duke 3D, and only became Creative Director for Forever after being the director for the Atomic Edition expansion, of which he only did partial design for one of the maps, they could have chosen anyone else in the company, and we would have ended up with a game without the years of development hell.
Who got rid of Bombshell? Apparently Ion Maiden's protag is what Bombshell turned into. The designer was some weird social justice guy who thought she was too sexualized and made her into a nondescript bomb disposal female.

Zoomers are learning about good old Georgy I see lol
George is a prick, but at the sametime, the guy was super nice according to those that personally worked with him. He was passionate to a tremendous flaw that caused the game to be eternally delayed. The game should've not come out in 2001, it should've come out with the original Quake 1/2 engine in 98...then the 2001 trailer game. At least duke 3d fan 9 year old me wanted.
Oh also...
Look who's snooping around the Duke4 discord with some stunning revelations like the parasite he is.

God in heaven, I never thought I'd see the day...

My father is a huge Duke fan, and and he made me one too as a kid... and now, both our dreams are gonna be completed. Holy shit on a stick.

The best thing about all this stuff? Mod support is right out of the gate, and so is map making. The Duke Nukem community will finish what George and Randy failed to end.

HAIL TO THE KING, BABY.

So while I was looking for some info on what's George been up to, ran into an old thread from the duke4 forums from back in the day. No praises for him on there.

Also, looks like he's had a stroke sometime in 2014. Being a fat bastard doesn't do him any favors.

Also, in one of the comments, I've found a very scathing letter from Mike Wilson (posted on Kotaku), former Ion Storm CEO who parted ways in less than savory ways with Romero over the development of Daikatana. You absolutely have to read it.

Holy mother of sick burns, Batman! :story:

Yeah, he's been out of the game industry for over 12 or so years. I still remember when the sale was completed and he mentioned after the agreement at the negotiating table in 2010 with Gearbox that it was the worst thing to ever happen to him. I always wondered why and today its starting to make sense.

Cool the real version of Duke nukem forever is actually out there in the world. I dunno what the fuck that atrocious pile of shit that was actually released was, but it's cool to see what could have been.

I remember playing Duke nukem 1&2 when I was really young and somehow, I was actually allowed to play Duke nukem 3d when I probably should not have been. That game blew my mind as a kid. Also used to play the fuck out of zero hour on the 64.

I miss the days of games like Duke nukem. Video games these days take themselves too seriously. I miss the days when the entire premise of a game could be 'aliens came to earth, put a bunch of babes in some slime capsules, so you gotta kick some ass and chew some bubble gum and just shoot a bunch of aliens in the face with no rhyme or reason to the things happening other than kill the aliens, save the earth and get the babes.'

Yeah, it's a real shame what artfags have done to the medium.
