If this shit doesn't become a scandal I'll be disappointed. There's a lot of sex freaks on Wikipedia, but usually they stay confined to their own little corners of the site. Having the article is one thing, giving it an image showing it is another, and MAKING YOUR OWN IMAGE for it is somehow a step worse.
 
Went down the full rabbithole of the degeneracy of this image, it gets MUCH worse.

The featured picture had a deletion request back in December, primarily due to licensing reasons. One user who championed the image was Dabmasterars who described the potential deletion of this image as " a great loss." His Wikimedia user page contains loli images that he saved as 'cool stuff I found on Commons'

This is not the first time this user has come to the attention of the Farms, as they also created the page for the Stop Killing Games movement. @The Mass Shooter Ron Soye has done an excellent writeup of their degeneracy, which should have been posted in this thread long ago

Also in the discussion for the deletion was a reference to an image titled LoliWikipetan.jpg which features a sexualised depiction of a clearly underage Wikipetan in a swimsuit. Dabmasterars boasts that he personally got the image undeleted from the website a few months ago, after the image was originally deleted by Jimmy Wales 18 years ago, with a large portion of the site in agreement with Wales.

I wonder how long until schools and general child safety filters start blocking wikipedia because of shit like this.

They can get away with it as long as they keep it hidden (and there's no pressure campaigns targeting them and highlighting all the porn on Commons), but when they start putting it front and center their position is considerably weaker.

Especially in e. g. the UK with Ofcom, with their local chapters/officially endorsed sub-orgs they don't even have the excuse that they're a purely US based organization.

Kind of shocked the New York post or Breitbart hasn't done a writeup on this. Seems ripe for the picking if you ask me. I know Breitbart has written articles on Wikipedia in the past.

What would be hilarious would be if one of the british yellow journos searched up all the homemade porn on commons and wrote about it, considering Wikimedia UK iirc lost their court case. Would force ofcom to classify it as an amateur porn site and wikipedia to enforce the strictest age gating.

This is true.
