The Gamergate article on RationalWiki (if that's the "lefty Wikipedia" you're referring to) is full of old drama since it was written by people like Ryulong (aka Michael Dustin Cohen, who has a thread here) who were topic-banned from the Wikipedia Gamergate article for paid editing among many other things. Wikipedia doesn't seem nearly as bad. Judging from the thread, there are definitely a decent amount of users and moderators who are nakedly partisan and actively try to control the narrative around certain subjects, however they seem much more limited in the amount of articles they're able to control.

The thing is that wikipedia has much greater credibility to the general public than Reddit does. So while the bias is more blatant there, it's much more nefarious on Wikipedia. They have a significant role in controlling the narrative in some events. It's akin to the "idea laundering" concept.
