Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

I came upon another article which is a gold mine.

Drag panic

For context, many complaining about drag exhibitions in the presence of children have provided photos and clips showing performers clearly engaging in sexual or quasi-sexual poses and suggestive acts. That is in addition to drag being generally sexually charged in the first place, and there's a good argument it is not age-appropriate even if fairly subdued.

The term "X panic" usually refers to a phenomenon which doesn't exist. For instance, the Satanic panic is so called because there are hardly any Satanists (there are a few weird spergs who claim to worship Satan but they are irrelevant hobbyists). By contrast, Drag Queen Story Hour is very real.

The article includes compulsory references to harassment. It's likely there were a few minor incidents as there would be for any political controversy. I'm sure bakers who wouldn't prepare gay cakes suffered "harassment" as well.

Indeed, on the talk page, when it was proposed to use a more neutral title "Criticism of drag" one editor's rant went further with threats and, yes, terrorism:

The article includes obligatory references to "white nationalists" and "neo-Nazis" and other perennial boogeymen.

But, wait, I haven't gotten to the best past. Do you want to know what really kicked off drag panic? Would you believe it was the greatest trauma in history, the January 6 unauthorized Capitol tour?

See, it all ties together!

The article does explain that the "panic" is international. For example,

No details are given as to what makes them extremists. Presumably it's their opposition to child-grooming.

O/t but boy, Satanic Panic itself is due for some major revisionism. I was alive for all of that, and by and large the main drivers of it were not 'fundies' (though they for the most part believed it, they never had that kind of media power) but the 'anti-cult' movement that sprung up in the wake of Jonestown. Cult Awareness Network is the most remembered, but there were others - anyone remember seeing 'deprogrammers' on TV? My recollection is that the main pushers of it besides the deprogrammer conmen were media talking heads and talk show hosts like Geraldo and Oprah.

As is tradition at this point the progressives go back and retcon reality to try and keep their "inexorable march of progress" narrative going in accordance with their marxist historical determinism shit that insists that true communism is just around the corner.

They ignore how the "satanic panic" got big because of Jonestown, which was a leftist utopian cult that started in San Francisco and got a bunch of retards roped into it to literally kill themselves.

In this interview there's a section titled "Wikiepedia editing" where Keri Smith talks about her time spent on wikipedia and the articles she worked on. I've timestamped it below.

She says she was obsessed with Christopher Columbus for awhile and admits to putting a slant on stuff she now regrets.

Maybe the anti-cult movement, but the Satanic edge came from the allegations by fundies that Satanists were running day cares to molest and abduct kids.

Although Jonestown itself is pretty great since it had very, very deep links with the Bay Area Democrat Party, especially Harvey Milk. Harvey Milk remained a huge fan of Jim Jones and People's Temple until they decided to move to Guyana. This was months and months after plenty of articles came out in the media from former members saying that Jim Jones was actually a pretty bad dude.

They're a bit behind now on the drag queen story time. Maybe they should update the article. We're already at drag kid dancers at nightclubs and halls.

Wikipedia proving it's own idiocy. Granted this is on a relatively obscure event in mafia history and I don't know how many mob autists there are on the site. Idk if picture will load or not so adding quote.

On August 12, 2008, an anonymous user edited the Wikipedia article on the scandal, naming former player Joe Streater as an accomplice in the point-shaving, claiming he had been recruited by Kuhn alongside Sweeney. No source was given for this claim, with Streater's last appearance for the team occurring in the 1977–78 season, but the claim remained for more than five years, resulting in a number of media sites including Bleacher Report, ESPN and Yahoo News erroneously naming him as a point-shaver.[5]

Turkey is par for the course for developing nations in terms of archaeology. It's not much different than, say, all the US hydropower projects in the 30s-50s flooding precolonial Indian ruins in the South or all the Civil War battlefields turned into strip malls and fast food (oh wait never mind, that's the most American thing ever).

Covering up old church murals and icons with plaster is actually a good thing BTW since if done right (key word) it protects it from the elements. Look what's happening at Pompeii to see what happens to murals left exposed and open to the public.

Ah yes, because someone named "A Socialist Trans Girl" is exactly who I trust to tell me what a woman is.
The spread of the suburbs after Urban Renewal post-WWII has resulted in the destruction of countless archeological sites across the United States and Canada. In Ohio they would just plow over burial mounds for new subdivisions. In Albuquerque they've been building suburbs within spitting distance of Petroglyph National Monument.

And then there's Egypt.

I can attest to this through some personal history. Way back in colonial times part of my family was given a shit ton of land to farm on. Stumbled across a few articles doing family research and these land plots have been completely turned into housing and strip malls now. It's terrifying how much of every smalltown America was lost in those couple decades.

The Wikipedia article on the Sound of Freedom. The section seemed to appear reasonable but only due to enough backlash against gaslighting.

However the category of the movie page.

Lastly. Tim Ballard's Wikipedia Page (Whom this film is about) is full blown gaslighting.

Fundraising to stop human trafficking (a horrendous criminal activity) is now "illegal" and "far-right extremism". Anyone who makes such a ridiculous statement like this should be regarded as psychopaths never to be trusted by anyone (and be locked up).

Defamation and Psychological Warfare are the reasons why I hate Wikipedia so much. It's beyond cruel at this point.
