Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Administrator noticeboards are a great place to dig up some incredible wikidrama. Case in point, this little kerfuffle.

What started as a user (Kalidasa) complaining about another user (Iryna Harpy) being a bully blossomed into a ten and a half thousand word argument that pulled in a handful of spergs to discuss things like who the bully is in this situation, who is violating good faith, and whether or not this is even the correct board to discuss the issue.

  • Kalidasa 777 accuses Iryna Harpy of making personal attacks and reverting other users' edits
  • Volunteer Marek informs everyone that the users that Iryna were calling out were known trolls, tells Kalidasa to stop wikilawyering
  • Iryna tells Kalidasa off
  • Haberstr, one of the victim editors, rambles about good and bad faith edits, gets told off, tries to get off the hook on the matter of his personal edit history by claiming ad "homimen" (sic) attacks, is told to shut up again
  • Haberstr posts a huge brick of examples of Iryna being a douche to him because he's a douche; another editor, Rob, muses that this is a classic case of WP:BOOMERANG for Haberstr and Kalidasa 777
  • Haberstr tries to reroute the discussion back toward hating Iryna Harpy, is given a bulleted list of his fuckups; Haberstr desperately trollshields
  • Meanwhile, Iryna and Kalidasa get into a slapfight; Kalidasa is extraordinarily buttblasted that nobody will take his side
  • RGloucester, a senior editor, provides a comprehensive list of times Tobby72, one of the trolls Kalidasa is defending, edit warred certain articles
  • Tobby72 accuses a whole lot of other members of the debate of a whole lot of stuff; nobody listens to him
  • Pro-Kalidasa side continues to whine and muckrake, pro-Iryna (who has not shown up since the beginning of the war) side mumble about how pointless this discussion is for the better half of an indent block
  • Volunteer Marek aptly sums the entire situation:
Volunteer Marek said:
A couple users with a history of disruptive editing - Haberst, Tobby72, and Kalidasa 777 - are upset that they're not allowed to push their POV in peace. So Kalidasa 777 starts an ANI threat making nonsense accusations against a well respected and long standing contributor, Iryna, and engages in bad faith'ed canvassing to make sure his buddies show up. They do. And they join in the screaming and crying and hysterics. Haberst, who almost got indefinitely banned for going around accusing other editors of bigotry, and who as a result lay low for awhile, but now decided to come back and restart edit wars from long time ago. And Tobby72 who has been trying to stuff the same text over and over and over and over and over again against consensus for more than a year now and who uses purposefully misleading edit summary to try and mask what he's doing. That's about it.
  • Tobby72 continues to push his weird fetish for a specific bit of information people keep removing as not neutral
  • Discussion winds down as even the people involve can't muster the energy to give a shit
  • Some uninvolved idiot necros, posting his own unwanted two cents

With that said and done, Haberstr seems like he could be worth a few laughs and it might be fun to keep an eye on him.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheep_shagger

The insinuation of the insult is that a person engages in sexual intercourse with sheep.[

Since it was featured on DYK, someone has been trying to remove this: "Unlike in Wales, however, the phrase is not viewed as offensive in New Zealand"

It's a famous (or, rather, infamous I guess) political ad.
One autist decided to make an in-depth article for it five years after it debuted due to a few 'reliable sources' deciding to dredge it up: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Demon_Sheep&diff=prev&oldid=680862923

Surely there should have been a lot more discussion about it back in 2010, and the 2010 wikispergs just redirected 'demon sheep' to a one sentence description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_California,_2010#Fiorina

The references section is horribly formatted as well.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedgie
That's one hell of a creepy article. The talk page is a trainwreck as well:
Really? This is an article I'd expect to see in, oh, maybe, Urban Dictionary, but Wikipedia? Such a scholarly article to describe what amounts to a slang term which most of us learned at summer camp, and which few of us have used since growing into adulthood. --134.174.110.7 (talk) 16:16, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

There was a recent modification under the "Dangers" tab of this pg. It contains information about an Oklahoma man, (St. Clair), that was murdered by his stepson, (Davis). St. Clair is my stepmother's ex-husband. Her and St.Clair's daughter, my stepsister, (along with the other family members), have been through quite a bit with all that has happened. People laughing and making fun and light of St. Clair's death. The media has totally blown this whole "atomic wedgie" comment by Davis out of proportion!!! They have suffered a lot of humiliation from it as well. The news of Denver's death was hard enough to deal with and has hit national news all because the murderer decided to pop off like a juvenile. The so called "atomic wedgie" did not kill this man!! The family is trying their hardest to try and express their disgust with every report of disrespect. However of is almost impossible to reach everyone out there who has reported on this. The family has asked me to report to them anything I see reported on or written about or to contact the source directly. This is NOT something they want on Wikipedia much less anywhere else. So please out of respect to Denver St. Clair and his family please remove the reference to the article about him and his death and any other mention of him and his death from any and all portions of this article or any other article on Wikipedia. Please think if this were your father, would you want everyone in the nation disrespecting him, you and your family? Please let him Rest In Peace?!?!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Luckyladynok76 (talkcontribs) 08:03, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

If you dont like the article simply dont read it, but other people actually liked the article just the way it is. whats the point of making a page on a website that everyone can edit if you have the option of locking it from the public. Some of you say this article supports bullying. Are you really serious one article does not make a person to bully and deleting it or shortening it is not going to stop them from bullying. some people actually like giving/recieving wedgies. there are many sites such as wedgienation and wedgiehaven where all they talk about is wedgies. stop shortening this articel and unlock it.its not fair to those who wish to edit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.14.79.239 (talk) 18:14, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
