Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

Don't forget the long-dead forced "memes" that were painfully forced by a couple of leftoids nobody ever heard of.

These memes are clearly extremely notable and need a lengthy article.
This article has one slightly useful section outing "Sealioning" as a cope by leftoids who want to avoid losing arguments. How long until this part is edited out?

The absolute worst was this forced 'meme'':

The campaign for the neologism "santorum" started with a contest held in May 2003 by Dan Savage, a sex columnist and LGBT rights activist. Savage asked his readers to create a definition for the word "santorum"[1][2] in response to then-US senator Rick Santorum's views on homosexuality and comments about same sex marriage. In his comments, Santorum had stated that "n every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That's not to pick on homosexuality. It's not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be."[3] Savage announced the winning entry, which defined "santorum" as "the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex". He created a web site, spreadingsantorum.com (and santorum.com), to promote the definition, which became a top internet search result, displacing the senator's official website on many search engines, including Google, Yahoo! Search, and Bing.[4]

I'll give that one credit that it's almost 20 years old, was coordinated back when the internet was very different, and actually managed to fuck up search engine results (like the George Bush Miserable Failure thing from the same time period). Nowadays that's shit that goes on every week on Twitter.

The absolute worst was this forced 'meme'':

Savage always has been human excrement. Here are some of his exploits outlined on his Wikipedia page:

Trying to get random people sick because they disapprove of gay marriage!
[He] was so angered by televised remarks in opposition to same-sex marriage by conservative Republican presidential hopeful Gary Bauer that he abandoned his original plan "to follow one of the loopy conservative Christian candidates around—Bauer or Alan Keyes—and write something insightful and humanizing about him, his campaign, and his supporters".[42] Instead, he volunteered for the Bauer campaign with the intent to infect the candidate with his flu. He wrote that he licked doorknobs and other objects in the campaign office, and handed Bauer a saliva-coated pen, hoping to pass the virus on to Bauer and his supporters (later he said that much of his article had been fictitious). He also registered and participated in the caucus, which was illegal, as Savage was not an Iowa resident. He was charged and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of fraudulent voting in a caucus, and was sentenced to a year's probation, 50 hours of community service, and a $750 fine.
He tried to make lightning strike twice in regards to turning an innocuous name with something gross out of spite:
In 2009 Savage invited his readers to vote to define saddlebacking as "the phenomenon of Christian teens engaging in unprotected anal sex to preserve their virginities."[49] He was protesting the vocal support given to California Proposition 8 by Rick Warren (pastor of Saddleback Church), and President Barack Obama's invitation to Warren to give the invocation at his inauguration.
Here's his view on NAMBLA:
We live in a culture that's hysterical about children and assumes they have no sexual agency or desire. But anyone who can remember what they were like when they were 11 knows that kids are sexual, and whether it was messing around with their cousin, playing doctor with their neighbor, or making passes at people 10 years older, they were horny. So NAMBLA steps out to articulate all this, albeit in its usual highly dysfunctional and creepy way, and because we know what they say to be true on this issue, we've got to label them as insane perverts. Any attempt at rational discussion about youth sexuality and intergenerational sex is simply shouted down.
"Guys the North American Man-Boy Love Association doesn't want to bugger kids, they're just bad at expressing the fact that little kids are sexual creatures!"

On an aside, Savage had a project called "It Gets Better" aimed at gay youths. Guess who made a guest appearance one time?
That's right, every leftist's favourite do-nothing president Barack Obama once contributed to a project helmed by a vocal defender of NAMBLA! What an inspirational leader of America.

From the 2020s article. Wtf is this? Could you not have waited until 2030 at the latest to put a photo comp of the decade? Or did the world end some time ago and this is all of the 2020s?

And Jesus Christ, can't the caption for that be any longer?
Francis Fukuyama heralded the globalist victory with one phrase: The End of History. There is no past, no future. Only a long, interminable present.

There is currently a small edit war about whether Dayton Hypernova Daniel Quasar (creator of the Progress Pride flag - and I can't be the only one who thought the names sound similar) should be referred to by Wikipedia with xe/xyr/xem pronouns.

Currently the article avoids pronouns altogether by repeatedly using the surname, although a note remains at the top of the page declaring this individual uses xe/xyr/xem pronouns (shouldn't that be xe/xem/xyr?) and links to a source.

The source is just a link to his website, progress.gay. And the only two paragraphs that aren't written in first-person refer to him with they/them.

I guess by the end of 2025 that will take up the whole page. That or Wikispergs will start a war over what deserves to be placed in it.

Do we really need an article for a literal who catlady?

Hell of a crucial article when you can't even give a synopsis. Also Obama's first page has no right to exist the way it does and makes me wonder if he was propped up or some shit seeing as a literal who's page wasn't nuked immediately.

I think it's rather optimistic of them to assume that all the shit hitting the fan for the decade would have stopped after the first 2-3 years and thus not need the rest of the decade for highlights. Or maybe they've decided to do a "post as you go along"-type of deal.

Random Chewbacca meme lady no one outside of TikTok or whatever heard of is more important to the timeline of history than Hans Kraut, German tank ace.
Wikipedia is devolving into emotionally driven "yes but I like this thing so it's important" vs "well I don't like that so it's not important!". Weird how that happens, repeatedly, across platforms, mediums, social circles, hobbies...

Gatekeeping is essential in any sort of community. I'm just glad lefties stay away from antiquing, because you just know they'd stir up shit when they see Nazi memorabilia, Jim Crow cartoons, or other 'problematic' shit being sold.

That's just a shitty article. State legislators like Obama was at the time all have articles so if you're American you can find your local politician on Wikipedia (and if you aren't you can probably find your country's equivalent).

It should be a section in Dan Savage's article, perhaps with a redirect, because he is somewhat notable himself, although this meme is not separately notable. That's how they used to do it before Wikipedia turned into some knockoff Know Your Meme.

They'd probably be too vapid to actually spot anything but the most obvious really. I've got Nazi magazines from the prewar area and a combination spoon/fork from the Wehrmacht from an antique store. Only thing that tipped me off was the dates (helpful to know German lol) and the the font of a marking respectively. A pocket atlas had a boatload of swastikas in it, but they never knew what they had.

Owner of the store gave me the spoon/fork for free because he thought it was just some old camping gear and there wasn't a price marked on it.

Militaria sellers deliberately scorn libs on this question and openly sell vintage nazi gear, but it isn't modern shit for wingnats - anything 'new' they make will be gear and flags for military reenactors. Gun Brokers is known mainly for being a gun site (the last rifle I bought was off Gun Broker, good site), but they also sell boat loads of militaria and you can sell 'hate' ware to your hearts content.

That edition was before Obama was even Senator, just a literal who. I have a lot of gripes with Wikipedia feeling the need to document random mayors or representatives from who gives a shit county no one has ever heard of outside of a ballot.

It was literally edited 25 minutes after that.
