Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

Gender stereotypes are oppression, motherhood is patriarchal, abolish the nuclear family [yoga teacher posts a lock hillary up meme on facebook] MATERNAL INSTINCTS ARE MAKING YOU DO THIS

I still say QAnon is 99% moral panic (not unlike the satanic child abuse stuff from the 80s-early 90s). I never heard of them until the media told me that they were a BIG THING among the FAR RIGHT sort of out of the blue in mid 2017. At best, it was a fringe of a fringe thing the media elevated for political purposes.

They don't even name any examples of people who are using 'pastel qanon' in the article. In the sources, it is a few social media normie tin foilers.

qanon shit is dumb, it's just ironic that these people who fancy themselves feminists can't handle women questioning the narrative and have to pathologize them and give them their own name and wiki article

The problem with QAnon after you research it, is that it combines actual real child trafficking cases that happened in the past, along with Xenu and reptilian asteroids, and body doubles. I wonder if the whole thing is actually designed to poison the well.

It's not even a question that this was it's entire purpose. So much crazy shit has happened that is undeniably real, of course you'll do whatever you can to tie it with alien bullshit.

This kind of super specific categorizing autism is the one thing still wholesome about wikipedia. Surely there's more of these categories for other countries.

The better parts of Wikipedia are areas that are run like a fiefdom of perhaps a couple dozen editors who have an interest in an arcane historical subject. There are some fairly well written religious articles, various parts of British or American history, and for a long time, even the militaria guys were left alone (until the Nazi hunters found out about them and their too-neutral generic descriptions of German officers).

The general trend is that along as it doesn't brush against shitlib interests, you will mostly be left alone. So the Catholic editors will be able to write about Vatican I or the Investiture Controversy or Modernism in the Catholic Church articles - but the fedoras will not allow a quiet article on transubstantiation. Military guys can sperg to their hearts content on the mechanics of various military vehicles, but accurately describing the battle field record of a German General, fuck no.

All the articles on Eastern Bloc military hardware from the late Cold War are getting hit hard right now by that *sigh*

I noticed Wikipedia progressively becomes more woke as the days go by, not saying there was a time when they're not. Eventually Wikipedia deletes articles that don't meet up to their criteria. There are sites dedicated to archiving deleted Wikipedia articles. Here are a few examples.
  1. Jews and Communism
  2. Jews and money
  3. Criticism of the Talmud

Did he just dump every single userbox in existence in there?
Yeah he is one of those people likes to put unnecessary shit in their bios

Can you add more of those deleted articles

I donated $10 to Wikipedia a few years ago. Now they're sending me emails asking me to leave them money in my fucking will. What the fuck?

This happens almost every December when the English Wikipedia holds its fundraising campaign. If you check out the talk page for fundraising on the meta wiki, you'll see a smattering of pissed-off users there and in the archives. This is similar to what you received. The next time I see intrusive banners I'm going click-happy on uBlock.

I think it started as genuine shitposting and then glowies caught on to it and started using it.

I just kill javascript on Wikipedia. Site works OK without it, and can't be trusted to run it.

True; alas I edit quite frequently on Wikipedia, and there are many handy tools that use Javascript. Still, at least the fundraising banners can be disabled if you have an account.
