Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotnik

Here's how the entry for "Robotnik" reads on the Wikipedia disambiguation page:

The Robotnik Family from Sonic the Hedgehog video game series

  • Doctor Ivo Robotnik, also known by the alias Doctor Eggman, the main antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Professor Gerald Robotnik, the grandfather of Dr. Ivo Robotnik
  • Maria Robotnik, the granddaughter of Gerald Robotnik, and the cousin of Doctor Eggman
Seriously, calling it the "Robotnik family" as though these are some real-life people? Not to mention the fact that the only remotely notable entry for "Robotnik" is Dr. Robotnik/Eggman, no one with a life knows or cares who these other "Robotnik family members" from the awful 3D Sonic games are... geez...

Off the top of my head, I recall at one point Wikipedia decided to feature an obscure individual Family Guy episode as the featured article on the main page.

Another time they featured an article on an obscure minor Pokemon character "Torchic" as the main page featured article; eventually they decided that 90% of the article was just fancruff and deleted it entirely, and just merged it into an article about "Lists of Pokemon characters".

Did you ever want to read 1300 words on the high school football career of a guy you might have heard of a decade ago? Yes? Former marginal NFL player and prolific wikipedia autobiographer Tai Streets has you covered:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tai_Streets

Painstakingly sourced with 185 references (only 26 fewer than Tom Brady), Tai has made sure you will know everything there is to know about his life.

It has this:

This article about a political term is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it.

This is not true. It would be more accurate if it said

This article is utter crap. You can help Wikipedia by deleting it.

Apparently there was a movement called "deletionists" on Wikipedia at one point. They really should have gone a lot further than they did.

I know it's to be expected, but the pictures on this article are revolting.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hentai

At least the article itself is right that "hentai" just means "depraved" and isn't a genre, but we don't need proof of concept in suggestive drawings of children. At least put them behind a spoiler like people do here.

They do that with tons of articles about shit they shouldn't do that with.

I don't think having a picture of a sex act on the page for that act is a bad idea, but it should be under a spoiler.

That "Wikipe-tan" is pure :autism:, though. Apparently TV Tropes has one too. Of course it does.

There have been big dramafest edit wars over Wikipe-tan as well, sometimes including lolcows like Ryulong.

It kind of astounds me that no one, at any point in the Wikipe-tan drama, decided to Google Kasuga39 to find that he primarily draws really fucked-up porn.

Except me.

(:_(
Yeah, I remember an old Wikipedia review thread where it was discovered that the artist of Wikipedia's "mascot" draws "loli porn" of prepubescent girls being raped. To be honest I'm not suprised given how Wikipedia seems to draw in fucked up times in general; I'm just surprised that the dysfunctionality of Wikipedia's community has never really made much media attention and that the website is still viewed as credible, but then again so is the US federal government.
