So, guess there is some lore drop from a recovering, former pokemon fag who (unlike Duncan) was able to leave the community a while ago. Smogon was founded officially at the end of 2004 as one of a multiple different ways to play pokemon competitively through simulators. Since back then, there was no wifi, this was considered the easiest way to play. However, there were multiple different ways to play as pokemon didn't announce an official format until 2009. There were many different ways to play online back in the day and it took a long time before Smogon became the official, unofficial way to play pokemon. So this entire thing is based on a shit post from 2004 and nearly 20 years later, its hurting Duncan's feelings.

Verlisify, the only guy Duncan came close to beating in a debate (2 lolcows attacking each other), came to fame because he attacked smogon. He had tried to initially become a youtuber with whacky sets that were going to shape the metagame but ended up looking like a retard (anyone in this thread could take 30 minutes learning about competitive pokemon and making something better than what he made). So, like any lolcow not being taken seriously, he started attacking smogon for the way they run everything and not allowing him to run his true uncompetitive set. Coming to the defense of smogon was every popular youtuber and every youtuber trying to get a ton of views. Duncan was one of those youtubers trying to get a ton of views and, as the op states, he was the most vile which got a response. So this revelation means, Duncan attacked Verlisify to defend a Nazi shit post. Probably the first instance of Duncan ever being based in his entire, soy filled life

Honestly I have no idea how he didn't have one before. He was married to a US citizen for like 3-4 fucking years. Considering his house still hasn't sold yet, I am guessing his income was so fucking low that they were seeing if there was any way to keep him out of the country but ultimately couldn't
