The main reason "Just be yourself" does not usually work is because it's supposed to only work for normal people who happen to be shy.
Not people with major issues in their life.
So don't be yourself if you have problems, don't date either.
Go get therapy to ensure that you're someone who can function in society, and by themselves. Noone likes needy lovers or people that need to be "fixed."

If by "Chad" you mean exceptionally socially skilled, then i somewhat agree, but if you're going by physically attractive, I very much disagree. Some of the biggest spergs i have ever met were natty, but still jacked to high hell and would have no trouble getting a date. I think this might have been more of an issue back in the day when the internet wasn't or at least was less of a thing. Nowadays, most people enjoy very niche things, even if normie interests still dominate most areas. I think it's a case of people being afraid of going out of line and being judged for their niche interests, so they just default to what everyone likes. I'll be honest, salary has never come up in any date I've ever been on. Maybe it's about the country I'm from, but none of the "incel walls", like height, cock size or salary has ever been discussed with any date or partner i've had. This seems to be the general consensus from most incels. In reality people just settle down with the people they enjoy being around the most.
