This happened on the weekend, but since nobody reported on it, I guess i'll do it myself:
A reddit user sneedlingg has published a google
doc about the cut content from Dying Light 2, predominantly, from the early stage of development, when Chris Avellone was still onboard.
His nick and the gamut of pretty detailed information about the game development tells me that:
1. he is most likely Polish and has an insider in the studio (or maybe was a Techland employee at one point)
2. he is VERY likely a user/reader of this site, and if so, i would implore to reveal him/herself and put in his own 2 cents.
This doc, in a way, confirms the info from an old (and now deleted, at least i can't find on the clearnet, as well as google archive) game/technology blog, by a user Monk of War,
that was published around June/July 2020, some time (i think around 2-3 weeks) after Techland cut-off ties with Avellone, following the sexual misconduct allegations. By that time, the development process was way overdue and the premier date was pushed to an unspecified, future term. The blog went pretty deep into the development process and the conflict between game's lead designer, Tymon Smektała and the creative team, responsible for, a.o. story and setting. Allegedly, Avellone had many interesting ideas (as you can read in the doc) but the creative team was unimpressed and, behind the lines, was accusing Avellone of "creating a just another Fallout:New Vegas". When the allegations dropped, so was Avellone, along with his ideas and the team decided to create their own vision of the world, story, dialogs etc. How it ended up, you can see for yourself.
As i wrote earlier, i can't, unfortunately, prove any of this, without the blog page, but if any Polish kiwi will be able to find it, feel free to post it below (the blog was in Polish).
Personaly, to this day, it boils my blood when i think, that some arrogant, wanna-be creative "talents" at Techland, had the audacity to accuse Christ fucking Avellone of repetitiveness and lack of new ideas, when they themselves had created something even more boring and unimaginative, then what was considered a "copy of Fallout:New Vegas".
