Microsoft used to be better than Sony, now they're the worst console company ever to have existed in the space. A real shame.

Sony makes single-player games that the fans like. They know what works, and have done it for 5 generations. Microsoft have no idea what works anymore, so just pander to whichever flavour of the month it is. Right now, it's ftp, streaming, subs and mobile games. None of that is good for the industry.

At least Sony tries to innovate with new pad ideas, new architecture and taking a huge fucking risk with VR. I've always prefered MS over PS but i have to hand it to the japs; when facing bankruptcy and rumours of the PS4 being the last Playstation console, they threw a huge chunk of money and took a big risk with VR. Because they knew the traditional gamers want it.

I think the problem with Microsoft is how reactionary they are to anything Sony does and generally just agree with it rather than taking an opposite stand or doing something new.

Instead of reminding everyone that games are a space that should be largely apolitical for maximum enjoyment, they say, "Ummm, we support BLM too, Sony! Thanks for letting us chase your coattails!" Instead of focusing on universal concepts that make games timeless and enjoyable to everyone, they'll promote games purely on the basis of being a tranny simulator, or that ridiculous GamePass banner in this thread where they give preferential treatment to streamers depending on how gay they are. Instead of reminding everyone that the mute option has existed for nearly 14 years, they police the behaviour that was actually appealing and more carefree to XBL so now it's all sterilized, boring shit that might as well be the room for a university lecture.

Meanwhile I may not like most of Sony's Western creations, but their Weebland creators mostly seem to not give a fuck and make things as they should be - free of gender studies lectures and needing to run your shaders over every character for representation's sake and just making a good game.
