Hey can we go back to the in-depth discussion about China's flag and the Romans? This video game shit is so 90s.

but thats the "inifnite blade" glitch or something like that; Its not a third sword Sheik gives to you after you do a ton of convoluted stuff like getting the Kokiri sword as an adult
Oh my bad, I got them mixed up. Shiek will give you the fire sword after you get into the Fire Temple as a child and leave the Kokiri sword at the top of the pillar that hangs before the boss room. Once this is done, you give the Fire Temple the "holy seal" which is actually the spirit of the Great Deku Tree (but only the Goron Chieftan knows that) and this prevents Ganondorf from resurrecting Volvagia, allowing what amounts to a Fire Temple skip without employing glitches or other exploits. This is programmed into the game. And as a thanks for your efforts, Shiek will give you the fire sword once to return to the top of the hanging pillar as an adult.

I'll hammer this home time and time again because it will never stop being true, the second half of the 7th generation was a terrible time for games. It was full of Wiimote waggle and Kinnect non-games, Japanese companies going under or focusing on handhelds or focusing on Japan only phone games or focusing on cute girls doing cute things, Microsoft dismantling its gaming empire, pre-smart phone phone games and Facebook gaming, no PC ports, PC ports with no mouse and keyboard optimization, PC ports with no graphics options or enhancements, Nintendo failing to support a handheld system and home console at the same time, Microsoft refusing to let developers put free patches or DLC on XBL, entire genres being declared dead and, worst of all, the 8th generation being delayed and cheaped out on because of financial issues. The only bright spots were Fromsoft breaking out with Dark Souls and Sony building what would eventually be their murderer's row of western studios.

If you think where we are now is bad, you have no idea how lucky you have it.
I agree, it was a very lame time for gaming, things have in many ways (save for most recently of course) got better since then, despite the rise of Woke in gaming, but overall I would say more interesting games came out between 2014-2019 than 2009-2013.

However I can still name plenty of good games that came out during the span of 2009-2013, it wasn't that bad, but now Woke really seems like it's finally draining the life of out of gaming, at least in the west.

Moylneux totally wanted that to be a real game, sunk a ton of time and money into it and then quit Lionshead over it when Microsoft pulled the plug. It was going to be, basically, a minigame collection tied to a generic boy and his dog story. There was a massive deep dive into it in one of the longer-form gaming mags and a few builds have leaked out. Even if they had wanted to make it a full game they would have had to cut or rework loads of stuff because they downgraded the original Kinnect from a pre-release version which could read finger movements to the retail build which couldn't.

Actually, mega-boomer Tony Hawk pushed the board hardcore and to this day things it was a good idea. He is not a gamer and still doesn't get why people didn't want to pretend to skateboard on a skateboard.
Huh, I was not aware of both of these things, I honestly thought Milo was a fake game, but it explains why Molyneux fucked off from Microsoft I guess.

don't forget the granblue action game where platinum was silently removed from and no one ever heard from the game again.
Man, I did forget about that.

Yeah but those same people are also to blame for caring about the story in sonic, which then brought us shadow the hedgehog and now I AM HERE TO KILL CHAOS

I salute to the autistic that brought us these trainwrecks
shadow came out before the people started caring about story in sonic though, ironically people all being like "sToRy DoEsN't MaTtEr" it's what gave Sonic the Paper Mario syndrome.

Honestly, I'll be frank, we are currently in a gaming renaissance. Every console has something going for it (even if Sony is in the middle of shooting its own feet off for no reason,) more genres than ever are viable, any franchise that goes dormant gets replaced with an indie one so at least people have something to play, there are so many ways to play older games (Xbox bc, NSO, classic editions, more compilations that you ever thought possible, Steam and GOG and of course pirating,) physical releases have more variety than ever due to LRG (and similar publishers) and people who want digital can get it for any game or on the monthly streaming services, Japanese games are back in a big way, phone games are only sucking money from simps without taking assets away from real games (compare to the dearth of PC content 10-15 years ago due to publishers focusing on the PS360, for instance,) handheld gaming finally dead, the rise of sim games, the return of platformers, massive open worlds, tight scripted shooters, online fighters that actually work well and are financially viable, more graphics options than you can shake a stick at, even the annoying kids games are way better than the shit we've seen in years past. And most importantly, Nintendo is fucking back.

As for woke. They can eat shit, you have plenty of other choices to play.

This is what it comes down to is the market is way more diversified than it was circa 2010, what's bad today is worse than it was in 2010, but there's just so many more options, markets, choices, this isn't the days of things being limited to what's on the selves at your local Electronics Boutique or GameStop anymore, which offered a good amount of interesting diversity circa like 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 but by 2010 a lot of that had dried up, but then the digital marketplace age took over soon after.

That's the good news and why in the grand scheme of things gaming is going to be ok, we just might be witnessing the death of the western AAA market, but we don't have all of our eggs in one basket like we used to.

Nintendo was the best, but in general this E3 was just really bad.

Microsoft did fine with them now whip chaining Toddy boy, and they focused on a plethora of games which is good cause they want to do general appeal like Nintendo. They're SLOWLY getting their exclusive game up with games like Redfall and Starfield but are also suffering hard from no actual gameplay, which trailers like Outer worlds 2 (from their own studio) fucking ripped them on. Lmao.

Nintendo did good between smash reveal, new zelda coverage, some hidden surprises with Advance Wars and Dread, but are still for some reason leaving behind things they announced and never got back to. Bayonetta 3 was revealed back in like 2017 and we have YET to see anything about it past it's being worked on and that one single direct I think Kamiya talked about it. Nintendo should focus on getting those games in the spotlight (Prime 4 as well) just to let those people actually chill instead of actually considering the game to never exist for meme stock. I'm happy they still are covering so many areas for people since it's the most popular console out of the big three rn, so getting games like Advance Wars is a great way to hit up that Fire Emblem crowd.

The worst one by far was Bandai Namco. Who in the holy fuck thought a great idea would be to just only talk about the new Dark Pictures game and have it be the ONLY thing you're talking about? We joke about SE and Capcom, but my fucking god looking at E3 countdown in retrospect and seeing Bamco there as an actual company is a joke. Hell Capcom just fluffing with Ace Attorney was better then what Bamco did

/v/ is having a interesting boildown, it's chaospost and/or doing the baiting threads about nintendo owning everyone at this E3, which they did.

God damn what a message lol. Nintendo is the fucking best, I'd say this was probably the best direct in along time. I've only ever played Nintendo despite owning s PS3/4. I don't see myself ever owning a PS5 but I'll stick to Nintendo for sure!

Also damn, Nintendo got some cute gals. Unlike Fat Aloy and Buff Abby...

You might have a point if they actually showed games instead of complaining about white people or something.
True, though this has been going on for at least 2-3 years/E3s for me. Open world manshoots with whispy hipster covers of songs from the 1980s. Rerelease of a remaster of a port. The woke kabuki theater + COVID drought certainly isn't helping , but its not all that for me at least.

Hell, I have a new PC and I'm using it to play hyper modded Skyrim and Paradox map painters. Nothing interests me and I'd rather play old games. Or get into other hobbies.

The more I think about BOTW2, the more I think it's going to be a disappointment.

I'm getting the feeling that they're not going to change much if anything about the weapon system. I really get the feeling we're not getting dungeons.

I hope I'm wrong, but it's just the feeling I'm getting. I don't think it will be bad persay, but I think a lot of people are going to be wondering why it took 5 years after it's all said and done.
