What if I told you, E621(.net), THE furry porn site, is threatened by this bill.

History Lesson:

In 2010, e621 was about to shut down because people rightfully started harrassing it as a degenerate cesspool, then, Jan "Varka" Mulders, CEO of up and coming "toy" company, Bad Dragon, stepped in, personally took over the site, and merged it into a Bad Dragon subsidiary: Dragonfruit Ventures. Bad Dragon is based out of Arizona, therefore, Bad Dragon is liable for any and all happenings of e621.

I believe that, since furries produce what they do, Mulders realized he made a massive mistake -- especially as his company grew and entered the mainstream. He's been trying, or really, praying, for a law to pass that forces e621 to shut down -- so he can get rid of it without attachment. Why not just trasnfer it? Because a legal transfer of something like e621 is way too risky and would compromise the secrecy of e621's ownership as-is.

Now, e621 shutting down like this isn't bad in of itself, but Bad Dragon and E621 administration have done a good job of hiding everything I've talked about here and getting people to blame the GOP instead. But they made one critical mistake: they kept using the same tactics to suppress this for at least 6 years.

I think it would be far better if they fought each other. This is why I'm sharing this. This story must be broken and cause as much chaos as humanly possible -- imagine all furries knowing their time is up and them blaming their own.

1. Furries, as part of the broader left, are very vindictive in their drama and are prone to purity spirals, pinning the loss of their site on BD will lead to implosion, zero doubt

2. e621 has been attempting to astroturf against the GOP for at least 1.5 years now [1] (note Feb 26 2025, April 10 2024, Dec 31 2023). Linking to letter sender sites that, ironically, ask users to dox themselves to protest against the bill. They also pressed users on May 7 2025 to protest against the bill again, but deleted it after the bill's passage ~May 15 2025 [2].

3. Furries have changed a lot over the years, around 2020 they became a lot more about grooming minors and groomed minors becoming groomers. Their brand is so toxic that left outlets refuse to defend them anymore, which makes them perfect for lolz or a takedown come the shutdown or compliance to the law.

Varka owns outright or has a stake in so many bizarre shell companies and LLC's that he could very easily obfuscate who "owns" e621 and where that company's nexus actually is. Dude bought a house in the middle of nowhere that is owned by a trust he is an owner of but still multiple steps removed from just so no one can find out where he actually lives. He isn't secretly wishing for the death of e621 in the slightest. He doesn't give a shit. e621 is in the same boat as F-List and AGNPH and all the other explicitly pornographic websites his company owns. None of those other websites are "at risk" of dying, if they were there'd be more rumblings than just idle chatter on the Kiwi Farms.

Maybe "insider" was wrong word, but you know just how damn secretive this information is. And the e621 response is far too aggressive and coordinated (in anything but addressing the bill) for it to just be "Varka not caring".

None of this changes that Bad Dragon, being based in Arizona, and all it's subsidiaries, are bound by Arizona law -- no matter where they are. If there was nothing happening, then e621 mods wouldn't be silencing and dismissing discussion of the bill. I can link forums where staff basically say the same thing over and over, but that would be very NFSW, I'll look into spoilering and linking them later.

Judging by how this was two months out, yet the suggestion "has this already been posted" bar only had the link shared at the top on HB 2112 -- to what I can find, nobody's probed the idea of e621 being at risk. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If this bill renders Varka's business strategies toothless (heh) then he can always just migrate things out of Arizona (edit: I mean this physically, not just shuffling names and titles around). This is a guy who had the connections/capital to emigrate to the US from Scotland. He was literally funded through illicit means.

In the worst case scenario (for Varka) if the situation is completely untenable and e621 et al have to shut down, there will be a "fall guy". Varka always has an unwitting fall guy set up who will be hit the hardest by whatever happens so he can skate away. The reason he's so bulletproof is because he has a million mechanisms in place to ensure his own survival at the expense of literally everyone else, even the people he considers his friends. He collects blackmail on everyone around him.

That is incredible if true, I'll take your word for it. And I think we are in at minimum agreement that Varka is above everyone else in this. It makes a lot of sense.

Honestly, I don't think hitting Varka is worth anything -- but doing something with the chaos that should be happening from this is. Even if it's just a fall guy. Furries are ruthless with drama, and every furry has some experience with e621. The "fandom" is built entirely on porn, down to the economics.

Thanks for the complement. Age verificaiton would kill the site and introduce a way for anybody to get doxxed as a furry -- really funny, but at that point better to shut it down. He can't just relocate it so long as it's owned by Bad Dragon, becuase AZ law still applies.

The main point here isn't what specifically happens, could shut down, age verify, strike a fall guy, transfer ownership, anything. The point is in the near future, the entire thing of "furry" will be a chaotic and very exploitable mess.
