A sturdy plastic bag, canister of nitrogen gas, and some tubing. These are the instructions on how to construct the device. The nitrogen is easily obtained for beer brewing at home if anyone asks.

You pass out within a few seconds and just go to sleep. There is no choking sensation like with CO poisoning.

Your heart keeps pumping. It doesn't need any signals from the brain to continue operating. Head shots bleed like you wouldn't believe, so you exsanguinate enough for it to finally stop. Seriously, it's like a fountain/river of blood spewing out.
