So in essence, the only way out is to end EBT/SNAP/whatever (food stamps) due to severe abuse, thus screwing over people who actually need it

But you can't keep it either, because, well, it's abused to hell and back and a infinite money sink.

My dude, I am way more left-wing than the average KF user and I don't think SNAP (or Medicaid/Medicare, SSI, or TANF, or Section 8, etc.) should exist either. Go far enough left and you arrive at 90% of the same socio-cultural-economic positions as the right, just through the lens of critiquing bourgeois capitalism rather than the lens of traditionalism/Christian work ethic/laissez faire economics. Even Lenin (who was, to say the least, not exactly a 4chan groyper or a rich Fox News boomer) believed this, writing in The State and Revolution, "he who does not work, neither shall he eat", which he directs at both the bourgeoisie who don't physically engage in labor, and at workers who "shirk their work" and refuse to engage in labor for whatever reason; this is codified in the 1918 Russian Constitution (the world's first Marxist state constitution) and the Soviet Constitution of 1936 as "In the USSR work is a duty and a matter of honor for every able-bodied citizen, in accordance with the principle: "He who does not work, neither shall he eat".

In every economic system, from the furthest left revolutionary Marxist worker's state to the furthest right AnCap libertopia minarchy, the idea that people should just be freely given everything needed for a comfortable life and not be expected to contribute to society in any meaningful way is typically frowned upon. The only politico-economic system where free housing/free food/free phone/free healthcare/free utilities/free school/free transit/free childcare/etc. are viewed as not just acceptable, but as so fundamentally necessary that they constitute a moral imperative are neoliberal social democracies (the same system that has resulted in such hits as "women can have penises", "mean words are violence", and "you are personally guilty of the things your ancestors did and must spend your life bending the knee about it"), the most fundamentally cucked and retarded socio-economic political system to ever exist.

If those people took over, we’d have South Africa 2.0, with nuclear weapons.
But then again whites were like 10% of South Africa or something, in America it’s something like 50 ish percent and blacks are about 13%. Plus Hispanics and Asians won’t automatically ally with blacks either.
It wouldn’t go down nearly the same.

Can confirm. I worked at a Target for years as a teenager and the amount of people who were dressed up and well off on Food Stamps was astounding. People would just apply for it and get it. This was an affluent area too. My favorite memories were when people would buy expensive electronics and then demand a separate transaction for groceries so they could use the EBT card.

Taking charity away from Churches was a mistake and this dates all the way back to the English reformation when the English government had to take over the duties the monastic organizations provided when Parliament dissolved the monasteries. At least in the old days when the government secularized charity or later on introducing the welfare state of Otto Von Bismarck, they could at least make the populace pay it back through taxes or as levied labor, perhaps as military service. Now that we don't draft people anymore and decided half the population is too poor to contribute, people grow up with no notion of giving back to the state and have this entitlement complex. Combine this with historical victimhood narratives, we have a lower caste that will never feel shame or embarrassment for being on benefits, let alone taking advantage of the system.

Not to think churches would fare much better at times. I've also done service hours back when I was in Scouting and one of the biggest wake up calls I ever got was at 12 when I volunteered at a toy drive for Christmas at some local protestant church. We had to deliver a bike to some single Mom and her kid, we arrive, there is already a bike in the front yard just waiting to get yanked. We deliver it, the Mom thanks us, the kid just looks at it without saying a word since he already has one, and then I notice they have cable television. It's all a fucking scam helping some people. I had an engineering ethics professor who flat out said only in America where the people below the poverty line have running water, electricity, and cable television. We made a mistake defining a threshold. I do genuinely believe there are truly impoverished people who need help but they aren't in cities, they're in the sticks or out on Indian reservations. The best thing the government can do is give them power, water, and ISP access so they can at least attempt to get an education. COVID definitely highlighted the need for ISP access.

Im fine with paying for gibs. If I weren't paying for gibs I'd be donating gibs to charity. What I dont agree with is those recieving the gibs being able to vote for me to give them more and more gibs until I need gibs too. Which is what has happened. I dont remember who it was but I heard someone float the idea that if you accept Universal basic income you shouldnt be able to vote. Honestly that should be extended to ANYONE receiving ANY KIND of welfare.

The rule should be no taxation without representation, and no representation without taxation.
You weed out all the people who don't contribute while a 15 year old who has to work to provide for their family gets the right to vote
