You typically can't get prepared food with EBT, only groceries.

So it won't impact fast food.

It is too lopsided. My anecdote relates to a poor relative I have making "too much money" at 670 dollars a month. The means testing of the system is a joke where the only valid question is if you're part of a demographic minority that gets lip service.
Let it burn. Only people I care about (white people mostly) deserve benefits.
 
Question: When the gibs are switched back on, will they be backdated or is the period when gibs were switched off just voided?

I think this is a big problem with modern society. People are fine taking handouts from the government. But they aren't as fine with taking handouts from charity. Because they see taking the money from the government differently.

The way I see it, it should be the complete opposite. People should realize, at the end of the day they are taking money from other people in our society. With the government, it's money taken by force, through taxes, tariffs, and other means. And with charity it's from people that have extra to give, and do it out of the kindness of their hearts. I hope people at least some amount will stop looking at the government as the answer to their problems. It's not just endless money coming from nowhere. It's money even coming out of even THEIR pockets when they pay various taxes, through the chain of the item they are buying getting to them.

I also feel like with food banks, people need to actively look for places that are giving out free food. They need to be a little more proactive. Which if you are going to starve otherwise, shouldn't even be an issue.

I know for sure when communists and lefties cope about how black people actually need to steal from stores, and that's why it's actually a good thing they are doing it. They conveniently leave out that food banks, and charities exist all throughout the country. I've talked to people and they literally think if black people didn't steal from stores they would starve or something. No, they just need to put in the minimum effort to find places that give out free food to make sure people aren't going to starve. But idk, I think most of the people that think like this have sheltered, lives the whole bigotry of low expectations thing.

Is working 20 hours a week really alot?I mean even for a mom it seems reasonable.
 
so ive been on foodstamps. forever. i was in kansas and we couldnt work enough to make enough to get off foodstamps. like you can but those jobs are full or the meat packing plant and that job is not for everyone.

so at some point i had a breakdown and stopped working, i worked on my mentals as intense as you can. we made the move to a new state and weve been here maybe 2 years and have gotten enough income we were taken off food stamps and are now paying for health insurance.

its not perfect but i am hella glad to be not dealing with this for once.

i do buy soda, but the rest is cheaper bulkier good. and ive never sold or traded my ebt cause its only worth 50cent on the dollar and id rather get full cash value at walmart/aldi/whatever
the thing that makes me insane is how in denial people are about being poor?

like if you all have the poor card you are poor. stop paying for 300 cable bills and 2k phones. why are you nails done for 35 a fill and 50 a set if you can make 3 meals a day ???

the priority on excess before basics kills me. may those who need help get it and the fakers get what they give.
and food banks and church suck ass. food banks are a pain at all angles, weird hours and days, not great for folk with transportation issues, and churchs just wanna pay you off to join their church.

food bank will be like here is 2 bags of almonds, a can a cranberries and a 8 pack of tiny energy drinks, that no one but army dudes who went to the middle east have heard of. tho maybe i went to really fucked up food bank or my mom did drugs and picked stupid shit.

also i think we should have a separate store that sells basics only maybe a government fixture. instead of allowing walmart to syphon tax money like that.

My struggle meal before I learned how to cook was pretty regularly just ramen with an egg, a spoonful of peanut butter, and some extra spices mixed in and I'd take a chewy vitamin with it. Some people really have no desire to learn how to feed themselves and live on microwave shit, fast food, and like gas station hot bar slop until they die early.

Now I just get all my veggies local and buy whatever meat's on sale at the store when I go. If it's the tougher cuts, I'll smoke or stew them.

What do you think is going to happen when the mainstream media airs a recording of a Black woman getting arrested or beaten for "Jus tryin to feed dem keedz" even if she was in the wrong?
