What a terrible scenario awaits the US. 13% of the population might, in their desperation, become responsible for as much as 50% of all crime. Truly unthinkable.

I'm on snap and Medicaid but not really ashamed of it since I'm the exact sort of person the program was created for.

I wonder what would happen if SSI and Medicare shut down. What I do know is that maybe the government might finally turn a budget surplus once 'defense' spending is also reined in

Some of them do work, and I have no issue with folks temporarily getting state assistance after job loss/hours being cut/ or having a new kid or w/e. I do have issues with these entitled and always fat people acting like its their right to have their unsustainable families cared for by others for life.

Agreed. The issue what is supposed to be temporary to help people deal with unexpected events in their lives has been abused. I support SNAP, but not as its currently implemented/run.

I think you've already been answered but:
The US government is in partial shutdown because new funding isn't approved, so things are continuing with existing funding commitments and new tax revenue. The government has shut down all non-essential functions.
EBT is deemed non-essential.

The thing is, poverty is very tricky. Most people I grew up around never got out. Some by choice, others because they just can't get out of that trap. Then there's disability, which when you rely on that, you're expected to stay low income by government rules.

Then again, I have seen women have kid after kid all so they could stay on welfare longer.
 
In what world is welfare stopping because your government can't govern a good thing? It is embarrassing that a giant world power like the US has an issue so far reserved for dysfunctional African niggerholes and the joke that is France

Fewer people get out because there is no incentive to do so. They live their comfortable life as leeches because that's all they know and were never taught aspire to more. Niggers of all skintones always chimp about 'respect' but never respect themselves.
There is also a lot of """"Disabled"""" people leeching benefits. And as you say, people who have kids.
also "for-profit" fosters who I have very mixed feelings about.

I'm really not sure what the right solution is. I am very in favor of opportunities for the "working poor" to elevate and improve thier lives, but a lot of "working poor" are also fucking retards with zero impulse control and seem intent on making the worst life and financial choices they can.

I think EBT should only be valid for staples, but then what if its someone who works? Yes, everyone has time to load ingredients into a crockpot, but then you have to store, freeze, and clean up all this shit after and that's a big burden. So if some one has a job and wants to get frozen dinners/lunches I don't see any issues there. But you see on the first and 15th people loading up steaks, candy, chips, etc.

I guess the right solution would be different pools of money - this much for staples, this much for convenience foods - but given the IQ of the averae EBT recipient there is no way they'd handle such a "complicated" system.
