Have you guys heard about Kiryas Joel, NY? It's a whole town of Hasidics about an hour and a half north of the City. Well, I used to live up there and we all learned about the absolute disgrace they are. Almost every single person in that town is on welfare and EBT. And they all kick it up to the town Hasidic leader for him to spread around as he pleases. He's like an actual warchief outside the bounds of our legal system. All paid for by the American tax payer.

I remember older people talking about eating what their families could provide during the Great Depression and World War II. And some people’s grandparents were kids eating what was provided back then.

Their parents didn’t turn down food because it wasn’t frozen chicken nuggets or sugary cereal for the kids. The kids would get hungry enough to eat what was on the table. And they knew that there wouldn’t be any other food coming around to replace it.
A lot of that food insecurity is what spawned the wacky recipes in 50’s-70’s cookbooks. You made do with what you had.
